The capacity to produce social chaos is the last resort of desperate
people. -Cornel West, author and philosopher (b. 2 Jun 1953)
Spent
a couple of hours cleaning out the eavestroughs on the north side of
the house this afternoon. Filled with leaves and seed pods from Amanda's
tree. Not all the much work as I used a small whisk to clean out most
of the debris. Wanted to complete this chore before we have any snow and
a few flakes came down just as I was finishing. Nothing materialized
and it was actually quite a pleasant temperature for working outside.
Hi Judy Blue! Just a quick note to thank you for such a lovely, lovely evening! The dinner was absolutely delicious and the company stellare! Did so much enjoy chatting with everyone and it was a delight to hear about Wim's career as such a significant orchardist in the Okanagan. Please pass along the snapolas to anyone who might care to see them. Thanks, as well, for the wonderful mittens! What a gift! I'm sure I'll be able to sell them for thousands on eBay, instant collector's items that they immediately became once you'd finished knitting them! Lady Dar is green with Grinch envy! Thanks again, darling! Cheers, Patrizzio! PS: Please thank Santa for the pre-Christmas visit! Thx again for another delish entertaining evening😘
Hello, First,
many thanks for the folks who brought all that food to the picnic. It
was great! And, we probably have enough firewood for the next 2 or 3
picnics.
Dave Whitton thinks he left a pair of gloves somewhere near the picnic table. If you have an errant pair, please contact him.
Next…..no hike this Thursday, December 13th.
Third point….
Friday, December 21st
is the Winter Solstice. Our tradition is to toast the solstice in the
evening, upon ascending Green Mountain on snowshoes. Rick has
volunteered to lead.
You will: -meet at Home Hardware north parking lot at 1900 hours (1840 at IGA in Summerland) -carpool and drive to the trailhead for Green Mountain (the cattleguard at about km10 on the Apex Road). -snowshoe
to the top of Green Mountain, perhaps have a short snowshoe around the
summit, toast the occasion, and return to the vehicles.
-return to Penticton. Rick asks the following:
-Please let him know if you are intending to join in. -Please remember to bring something hot to drink, to keep warm and to toast the occasion. -Dress warmly and bring extra layers. It is usually very chilly!
Fourthly: Keep the date of Friday, December 28th open. We will have our (almost) annual Homecoming Snowshoe, where we welcome any folks who might be visiting the Okanagan
to join us for a snowshoe (we usually try to keep it fairly gentle). There will be more information to come soon. And I will finish with a wish to all for a Merry Christmas. Cheers, Jim
