Lurchesca and Grogg and the Naramata Bench Blues: Sunday, June 9th!

No race can prosper till it learns there is as much dignity in tilling a field as in writing a poem. -Booker T. Washington

Up at 6:10 am as Duke knocked a small tube of hand lotion off my bureau to let me know it was time for breakfast! Went into the kitchen to find that they had eaten almost all the crunchies, leaving nothing but "dust" as Chloë calls the remains. This being the case, they certainly appreciated their "wet" food and proceed to lick their dishes clean before heading outside again. I decided to stay up and zapped my java, putting way some of last night's dishes as I readied it.

Another busy day as Lurchesca and Grogg, [Staying with friends in Kelowna, last night.], will drop by around 11:30 am to collect me and head out for a bit of wine-tasting. Lady Dar is busy with a church event after service and won't be available until 1:30 pm so we'll let her know where to meet us for lunch. Must away as I want to have a bite of breakfast before I get ready to go to the pool. Lady Dar will drop me off there before she goes to Oasis. I want to get in another session of deep-water-walking before I meet up with L/G. Deep end is usually very quiet Sunday mornings so an ideal time to exercise there.

Well done walkers! Did submit a donation and probably will receive an email receipt haven't so far. [Receipt received and lovely thank you email] Thanks for the update and pictures--loved the group shots, shot of deer and cute puppy and of course Etta. Have been busy today finishing up some work for Big Sisters and for Bangladesh Conference Proceedings trying to help edit some of the papers. Tried watching some BBC mystery thing last night and found it very dull. Colin's eye appointment went well so he is much more positive. He has gone off to watch a baseball game--featuring a kid we know. Don is coming over for a barbecue tonight. Yes let's hope the China trip goes well!! Anyways if you don't hear from me then you'll know we have had problems. Cheers for now Jo-Anne

Hi again, BBQ Woman! Thanks for the donation! Much appreciated. If you need legal representation in China, Lady Dar said she would release funds raised by walk, [$12,500 with more donations still coming in! What an impressive amount raised! Bravo!], to pay for lawyer! If convicted on spying for the CIA, look on the positive side: you won't have to do any spring cleaning for fifteen years or more! Tell Colin I'll take care of his malt cabinet as well!

[Memories of youth.] Around noon, today, friends Lurchesca and Grog, [aka Francesca and Gregg], came by to collect me. They stayed overnight in Kelowna and were en route to Burrowing Owl to stay for two nights. Lady Dar was at a church picnic until 1:30 pm so Grogg had arranged a tasting at Little Engine, quite a high end winery, [owners are from Alberta!], off Naramata Road. We enjoyed a more than terrific tasting, on the very comfortable patio there, followed by a simply delicious lunch, washed down with a very tasty Cab Franc, at Bongo Bistro, part of Serendipity Winery. Lady Dar had read about their new chef and wanted to try food. Peanut soup was divine, as were Cobb salads, [The Sisterhood], and designer cheeseburgers, [The Brotherhood!] Waved goodbye to the Burrowing Owls at winery.Fondestos from Lady Dar and Chloë to you both. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Latest bouquet from our front garden

Hi Burrowing Owl Pool People! Trust it was sunnier off Black Sage Road than here. Wonderful to see you. Thanks so much for the more than terrific tasting at Little Engine and then the delicious lunch and Cab Franc at Bongo Bistro. Back home I finished off my shoulder exercises and Chloë dropped by just as I was finished. She and Lady Dar are chatting on back patio as I scribe. We invited her for dinner but she wants to go home to get her place and herself ready for a busy coming week.

Lady Dar was going to make turkey burgers for dinner but after the great burger at lunch I think I'm happy with a large salad. We'll probably watch the latest season of Elementary tonight, perhaps something else on Netflix, maybe Season Two of Ozark with Laura Linney. Anyway, more than plenty to watch as well as piles of books by our bedsides. Claire Lynch is appearing this coming Wednesday so I'm going to see if there are any tickets left. Enjoy your stay and travel safely. Fondestos from Lady Dar and Chloë to you both. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Duke; Etta; Little Engine; The Sisterhood!
Hi Burrowing Owls! Managed to obtain tickets for Claire's show! Thanks for the tip. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi folks! Again this Thursday and likely the next one (20th) as well, I am unable to be there. Soooooo….does anyone wish to lead the troops? Let me know soon. You can choose your own destination and I will put out the notice for you. If you are willing and able, let me know asap. By the way, Carol had surgery on Wednesday last week. She is home and seems to be progressing well. Thanks to those who have sent their regards. It is much appreciated. [Dearest Carol!
So pleased to learn all went so well with your surgery! Much Love from Corinne and Patrick] Cheers, Jim
