Robbie Burns and the Whisky Tasting Blues: Sunday, January, 27th!

There is a point beyond which even justice becomes unjust. -Sophocles, Greek dramatist (495?-406 BC)

Mom’s birthday It is tomorrow she will be 94. Can you please send her a fab ecard. Thanks Love Cora Lee Good Morning Pushy La Peñitan, et al! You are just as demanding as The Boy. I just heard a thunk from our bathroom and he was waiting by the sink, having flipped a small sack of cosmetics, I assume, and a container of some unguent onto the floor, his look asking why I had taken so long to respond. And this after he had already had a drink from kitchen sink!

I gather you are upgrading our Netflix subscription. Pushy Mother, Pushy Daughter! Furthermore, when I went to collect six bottles of wine, Altitude, at UB, I was delighted to see that your card had been charged! Just feel pleased that I didn't order a dozen! However, might have to go back for another six at the rate that Chloë demands wine with most meals I prepare! On the bright side, your new Capital One card arrived so you'll have unlimited credit when you return.

With respect to Rosita's card do you want it sent from the Durston Clan or simply our immediate family? Let me know and I'll select something. I can also send you the message, before posting card, so that you can edit it!

Finished Dogs of Berlin last night. I thought there were two more series so another cliff-hanger. Chloë has very kindly offered to drop Norm and I off at malt tasting, this afternoon, and collect us afterwards so we won't have to worry about driving. Another sunny, sunny day but crisp enough so that snow isn't really melting all that much.

Please tell Olga Polga to give me a shout when she is back and settled so that we can arrange book exchange. Chloë would like to read it afterwards. She is hosting her next book club and is having an Oscar party. Think Robbie is flying up in a week or so. Social whirlwind at Sendero! Grogg and Lurch arrive this coming Thursday for two nights. Busy time although I have finally managed to read installation instructions for printer. Might have to fly Ragin' up. If I do, will use your Capital One card! Must away as I hae to figure out what to say to Jean! Fondestos to Rolly Polly and Buona Fortuna with her packing. Trust your dinner at Aventi's goes well. Much Love, Duhlink, Patrizzio!

The card would just be from us. I have already sent a message as have Ayn and Patti to be read out at the dinner tonight after the book launch for the book Marlos friend wrote. Marlo is going to read them out.

Had a very loud wedding party across the street last night. Music stopped at 10:30 started at 3 pm but generator noise continued for another hour. They even had a huge bouncy castle for the kids. It was in the huge estate where we went to the fashion show, Agneta’s friend Thomas. I guess he rents it out for a big sum for events.

I miss the cats but have been visiting La Nochai Agneta’s cat who is an older Duke. He had cobwebs on his head yesterday and a leaf which I took off.
Went up to Margaret’s house for drinks before dinner in Los Ayala. They have a lovely place, great pool deck and courtyard.

Olly off for a nap before we go for a walk and lunch. Just finished another great book. And downloaded some more. Plus walked to Olly’s friend, Arlene, yesterday and exchanged 3 books with her library she has for guests at bungalow they rent out. Will have a quiet few nights until Carol and Bruno arrive on Thursday around 6 pm. But will attend Agneta’s book club on Monday afternoon and charity fashion show on Wednesday at 11 am which includes lunch. Love to you all, Cora Lee

Hi Wedding Party Victim! You seem to be fated to become involved with wedding parties of some sort, wherever you travel, India, Mexico, where next? You sound busy. Thanks for update. Here is text of what will be sent out tomorrow: Happiest of Happy Birthdays to our Favourite 94 Year Old Mother, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother! Hip Hip Hooray! For She's a Jolly Good Fellow! Fondestos, Love and Cheers, from Tinsel Town, Sendero and Burns Street!

Let me know if this meets with your high editorial standards. Just chatted with Norm when I was outside getting firewood and he'll pop over just after 2:30 pm when Chloë said she would be here. Love and Cheers, Patrizzio! Enjoy your Robbie Burns dinner and whiskey! Hi to Norm, C

Hello Mexico and Others! Had a grand malt tasting and lovely meal this evening. Chloë dropped us off and we walked home after event. Lovely evening, quite mild and I was warm without gloves all the way back. Fun chatting with the others at table. You might remember Darren, owner/chef of Bognar's. Karen, winemaker at Red Rooster was a next table. Dame Judith and Kevin are well although Judi has a very bad cold so I didn't smooch her. Off to watch next episode of Four Seasons in Havana. Fondest, Love and Cheers, Patrizzio!
Pics: Kevin in regalia; Simon, Colin and Dame Judith; Kevin and their son, I believe; two women at our table with Stormin'; Toast to The Haggis, very well done indeed! bread pudding for dessert, delish! piper; other lads at our table; Darren, Karen and an unknown; Shannon, from Black Widow, was there with one of her brothers.

Looks like a great event. Thanks for the pics. Olly packing, gets picked up at 11 am tomorrow. Hugs Corinne Lovely photos. Glad I had a good time. Dame Judith Glad you enjoyed it! Kevin Looks brilliant. But there is only one true Scotsman. I the 5th picture. Take care Patrick

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TASTING EVENTS: Please note the following changes.

1.  FOR THIS EVENT ONLY -  The new Riverside Caterers have not received their Interac/Credit Card machine as yet.  If it does not arrive by Sunday you have two options:  CASH - or allow Christine to take down your credit card information and she will input when the machine arrives.  PLEASE NOTE:  The serving staff working behind the bar for this event and also our pourers are not being tipped as they are the "Foodilicious" staff not the staff of the Breakfast Club Caterer's who are looking after our culinary needs for this event only.

2. FOR ALL EVENTS - There is to be no more tipping up of chairs to safe spots for your friends who have not as yet arrived.  You can use a jacket, or scarf whatever, but tipping up the chairs are a hazard.  This is at the request of the new caterers - an Insurance issue.

3.  FOR ALL EVENTS - If you have a full table of 8 I will reserve the table for you - not 7  -  EIGHT.  I will require the names of the 8 people who will be at your table.  We will not squeeze 9 onto a table.

4.  FOR ALL EVENTS -  Please remember that though you may request a guest and an invitation is sent out, that is not a guarantee of being able to purchase a ticket.  After the member's early bird ticket time period is up, invitations are sent out to the Guest List and the Membership Waitlist.  Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. So advise your guest to purchase their tickets immediately.  Also, ensure that they have the Eventbrite e-mail in their contact list.  Many of the guests invites are ending up in their junk mail.

5.  FINALLY, we are working diligently with the new catering company to make sure that all our upcoming events are a success.  Christine and Chef NeNe have literally bent over backwards to work with the outside catering company for this upcoming event.  All transitions are difficult, both sides have a lot to learn.

If you have any questions please e-mail me and I will do my best to reply.  It has been a busy process getting the Robbie Burns Event co-ordinated and I for one am looking forward to a great evening and some exceptional tasting experiences. See you on Sunday Judi Ritcey, Event Co-0rdinator SOWTS

Good Evening Malt Tasters! Thank you both, and all the others, for all the pageantry, grand malt tasting and lovely meal! Wonderful evening indeed! Chloë had dropped us off so Norm and I walked home. Lovely, lovely crisp evening, quite mild, in fact, and I was warm without gloves all the way back. Stay well until next our paths cross. Cheers, Patrizzio!
