Up at 6:00 am this morning even before the Feline Alarm Clocks! Had a terrific sleep, kept warm, for most of the night, by Miss Etta, who now seems to have found a way to sleep beside me that accommodates my restlessness. Am off to snowshoe with Bill and some friends at 9:30 am so looking forward to exploring some new routes at Snowflake.
GOOD MORNING PATRICK; IT’S TOMORROW I’M GOING TO PENTICTON………….NOT TODAY. LET ME KNOW IF YOU’LL BE HOME AM OR PM. HAVE A GREAT DAY. HOPE THE NEW YEAR IS STARTING OFF WELL. HUGS FROM HILDI 😊 I GOOFED. TOMORROW. I’ll call you later. Have fun snowshoeing. I’m off to Oroville today for my Garden Club Meeting. Hugs from Hildi 😊 Hi Von Bingen! Happy Orovilling! Weather seems like it will cooperate tomorrow so I'd like to go for a ride at some point. When do you imagine you will be in town? Let me know and I'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio!
How about if I come in the am………….say 9:30 for coffee. That will give you time to go for a ride. How does that sound…………😊 Hi Garden Club Goil! Great that you can come in the morning! Will have the java waiting. Had a fabulous outing today. Look forward to catching up. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Patrick, our email has been down for several days. Olly and I have been very good. To bed around 10 pm every night up between 7 and 8 and doing yoga 3 times a week. Very little alcohol as Olly cannot really drink due to her kidney disease. We made big salad for dinner last night after we did the Thursday market and had lunch again, a salad on the way home. Had dinner on Wednesday night with Agneta and Margaret who was on our Italian trip at Agneta’s after bocces on the beach. I loved up la Nochi at Agneta’s after Yoga and downloaded the last two days of emails. Hope this internet problem does not happen often as can’t check wedding business. Or connect with my loved ones.
I have seen Lynn several times but no invites. Have not yet found a 4th for bridge. Olly is out sweeping the patio and just got free big bottle of water from workman at next door unit who is painting there. We managed to find all the household things we needed at the market this time. Biggest thing was a stopper for the sinks. Olly is now reading Becoming and would like to come to the book club discussion on the 21st of Feb. Love to you all and the cats of course. Miss you, Lady Dar
Hello La Peñita! Pleased to hear that you are back on-line! I gather that you are really getting your money's worth out of the new salad bowl! The Boy will be jealous if I tell him that you are lavishing affection on his older brother! Glad you are finding all the household goods you feel you need. Send a snap of your bocces games. Great that Olga Polga will join us for next book club. I'll let gang know that she will be sitting in for you so you can send along all sorts of questions! Can't Agneta play with you two and Lynn? Barb played with us last time as well as at their place when we stayed in Enderby.
Had a simply wonderful time with Wild Bill and two of his friends, Harvey and Gord, snowshoeing out of Apex, along a logging road beside Keremeos Creek. Funnily enough, first time I went out with hiking group we followed much the same trail however once we'd climbed, gradually, to a certain elevation, we took off on a track I'd never been on before. It really was magical. Our destination was Moose Hut, about an hour and 15 minutes from parking lot. Small A-frame, log pole/plastic roof, constructed by people who hike and snowshoe thereabouts. Quite rustic but a great place to warm up and have a bite.
While we were eating our sandwiches, (both Harvey and Gord heated up their cheese sandwiches, wrapped in tinfoil, on stove top), it was fascinating to hear them talk about various things. Per esempio, I didn't know that Bill's father and a business partner had land at Cathedral Lakes. Bill's family built a house there and so Bill has a key to the gate across the road leading to the provincial park so he can drive right to the lodge there. He rents out the house to the lodge/park authority, [Apparently they look after all the maintenance as it is to their benefit to do so.], and simply lets management know when he wants to use it and it is made available.
I know that quite a few in the hiking group have done and still do overnight camping trips, (of various duration), in this area and say that the scenery is simply spectacular. Ask Rolly Polly if she has been there. Apparently it is a very arduous, long hike to lodge but you can take a shuttle, ($100 return, in high season), if you aren't prepared to do trek.
Harvey lives in town, [Al Tinka was his shop teacher in high school!], somewhere behind IGA. His family owned a large auto salvage business, (originally where Home Hardware is now), but he and his two brothers sold it seven or so years ago. Gord's family was in the large equipment business, (road construction and the like), and he moved to Alberta, where he started a number of companies, before returning to Penticton. He now lives on Apex itself and we picked him up there before we started our outing. Didn't go inside but Bill said it is a lovely home. Apparently, he built it himself, inasmuch as he was general contractor, given his construction background, etc.
Certainly a very, very interesting, welcoming, friendly group and they do much together, (hunting, fishing, snowshoeing, etc.), although Gord is only one, I believe, who is still a downhill skier. Back home to find Duke on your office chair. Not sure where Miss Etta was but she showed up to rub my leg and then, after eating, go outside. Duke is on the blanket on our bed now, resting up so that he can stay out until the wee smalls!
Had a call from Grogg around 4:00 pm. He and Lurch are on a month long ski holiday, starting off in Whistler and then heading as far as Revelstoke, with stops in Kamloops, to see Kaiya, and Sun Peaks, to see Trev. [Have to find out dates as I'd like to see him as well. Need to coordinate with Chloë regarding cat care and feeding.] They will visit a friend in Salmon Arm on way back from Revelstoke and then will stay with me on February 1st and 2nd. Grogg said he had another all clear from doctor on last check-up, a week or so ago. Unfortunately, Peter Cook's wife, Carolyn, is undergoing treatment for cancer in three organs but apparently therapy is going well.
Von Bingen is coming for coffee tomorrow morning at 9:30 am so if weather is fine I'm hoping to go for a ride afterwards. Forecasts suggests it will be mostly sunny and wind isn't predicted to be overly strong. Roads are really, really dry, unseasonably so, of course. Then dinner at Lighthalls on Sunday so I might know more about their plans. Must away as I want to have a shower before I make my dinner, a large salad, à La Peñita! Fondestos to the Patio Sweeper, [Have you got her doing dishes too? Ha!], and warm love to you, my Absentee Darling! Cheers, Patrizzio!
