Hi Pat and Corinne, I'm sure you're having a wonderful holiday in Europe.
We'd love to see you this Fall and we're wondering when you will be back
from your trip. Ruth Hi Little White and Grumpy Ricardo! Lovely to hear from you and thank you for the invitation. I know that Lady Dar has already replied but I did wish to say hello and apologize for not being in touch sooner! No excuses, as always, but plenty of reasons! Hi Ruth We are back October 12 and busy the following weekend with AGM at Spirit Ridge. Chloe’s friend Mya is having a baby shower for her on Nov. 2 in Vancouver was wondering if you could come? Hugs, Corinne
As you know we are in Croatia at the moment, in Hvar, one of the lovely port towns on the island of Hvar. After Vienna we drove to Budapest followed by Ljubljana. Stopped for a couple of hours in Trieste on way to Rovinj, first town in Croatia. Next on to Split. Lovely drive along the coast once we were closer to Split. We were there for three nights and then to Hvar, by ferry, for four nights, before heading to Dubrovnik. We will be there for three nights, Flamin' and Sarge only for two as they fly to Rome for a couple of nights and then home. We fly to Prague and then wend our way, via Český Krumlov and Salzburg, to Zurich, to arrive on September 28th-30th, and then to Bern, from September 30th to October 5th, staying with close friends in both cities. Then to Valence for three more nights with more friends and then into Paris for four nights before flying back to Penticton on October 12th.
Chloë is now seven month pregnant and will probably deliver around the 23rd of November, doctor not wanting her to go all the way to term given her age and size of baby. Had this message from her a few mornings: Hi, came over to your place around 4pm today (Saturday) and Etta was there as soon as i got out of the car wanting rubs!! Found Duke on the front mat and he rolled around and gave me lots of loving. Just watching tv and being lazy as I’m not sleeping well lately. Just feeling uncomfortable and the baby is a night owl of kicks and moving around. Hopefully I’ll get some cat company in bed tonight. As indicated, she is cat sitting, at our place, [Just a few days after we left she moved into a new place closer to us in town. Yet another story!], for the weekend as lady who has been there since we left had a busy weekend. All goes extremely well with her tests, etc., so we are very pleased about this, of course, as you can certainly well imagine.
Do look forward to seeing you both, at some point in the not too, too distant future, [Perhaps we could arrange a whirlwind visit, week of October 27th-November 2nd when we are in town. I will be returning to Penticton on October 31st so it would probably have to be the night of Tuesday the 22nd as Lady Dar has Book Club on Monday and I have an appointment with my dermatologist on the Thursday before I drive home. Anyway, let me know what you think and we'll plan accordingly.], so fly to Prague and we'll read Kafka together!
All the best from Lady Dar, Flamin' and Sarge, just off to go island-hopping. One can be ferried to a number of the closer islands by shuttles which run all day. I'm happy to stay home alone, in the peace and quiet, [Broken only by the high-pitched mating call belted out by the male cicadas. While I knew that cicadas usually sing during the heat of the day I did not realize that in addition to attracting a mate, the loud noise actually repels birds. The cicada's song is painful to birds' ears and interferes with their communication, making it difficult for the birds to hunt in groups. Male cicadas in the same brood will stick together when calling in order to increase the total volume of noise. This reduces the chances of bird predation for the whole brood.], and spend the day doing my shouldares and catching up on messaging. As mentioned above, don't want too much sun anyway and will pop down to the beach, but five minutes from where we are staying, later this afternoon.
Around the promenade, from the tiny pebbled beach itself, there is a set of stairs which allow one to drop into the water where the depth is well over one's head. Walking into the water on the beach is hard on the tootsies as pebbles and small rocks are quite unforgiving. After I returned from the climb to the Fortress, on Friday, I more than relished the cool dip and bounced around in the swell, balancing on a large rock, every so often, to take a rest from sculling on my back.
Refreshed, I swam to the ladder and clambered out, aided by the swell which pushes one, if timed right, out of the water. Dried off in the sun and then made my way back to collect my possessions, left with the Upper Class Beach Chair Loungers. Today, I won't take anything valuable and will leave my sandals, shirt, hat and towel against the wall of the promenade while I bob and float in the wonderful, clear, not overly salty water. All the best from close to Paradise. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Pics: "Our" beach, spot where I prefer to enter water is at the tip of the promenade where tree branch protrudes to sea; views of harbour and town of Hvar from Fortress; side-street and tiny harbour in Stari Grad; Lady Dar cooling of at beach on Vrboska; Tasting begins and resulting spoils!
Hi Corinne, I would love to come and celebrate with all of you. Please send me the details. It looks like you guys are in a beautiful location. It all looks incredible. You are only missing our monsoon rains so enjoy your time. Ruth
Hi Patrick, Your trip to Hvar looks idyllic! How very wonderful to share it friends!
Also, it appears that you are indulging in very interesting wines for that region.
We'll check Rick's schedule for the 22nd, but week nights are not always easy.
Perhaps, Sat. Nov. 2nd after Chloe's baby shower we could share an evening,
if that's possible, as I don't know the time for this event or maybe the evening beforehand. We'll check back with you with regard to the timing. Ruth
Looks like you're having a wonderful trip The kids stopped by after I went to a great fall festival in Camarillo yesterday Including a shot from her first live NFL game where the Seahawks beat the LA Rams Love to all travelers Ayn
Good morning my 2 travelling friends, Thanks for the travel dialogue and pictures Patrick....you do it well and I am always happy when friends share their travel experiences...so happy you are enjoying yourselfs. I want to go to Croatia too...sandy is also posting pics of that area and it looks wonderful.
I had brunch with your lovely daughter yesterday and she cut Bennies nails. It was good to see her and I think she looks great...I have decided to stay on for the winter at the Shoreling and winter hours are reduced considerably. My new hours will be 4-8 Friday and Saturday. It is soo nice to have a breather and get caught up with friends and mundane necessary house stuff.
Mary Lee's mom died ( suddenly) so it was a shock for her. She is back i n Penticton now and we are getting together to celebrate a mutual friends newbaby tomorrow. I am looking forward to snuggling a new one (the circle of life) I have already told chloe I want to be an auntie. I already have some gifts but she wants to wait to receive them. Vanessa was home for a surprise visit and also brought her a gift from to,
The trip was a bit of a disaster. She had her back pack stolen from a friends car that had all her id etc, laptap, diamond earrings in it.....It was hugely upsetting and a big nuisance notifying institutes and getting replacements...so instead of having fun a lot of time was spent crying etc, We did spend a few days at sunoka dog beach tho and that was relaxing and enjoyable. Tom loved it. He also made friends with little bennie....now I miss them! The day Vanessas back pack was stolen I was in a fender bender in a mall in summerland. It was totally the other persons fault but icbc has deemed all accidents in malls 50/50 I have some minor damage to my back fender so am going to get it fixed.
The beginning of October I am going to Sparkling hills for a nite to unwind and relax in the spa/ Cathy and Ian are also away (England) so have an email to reply to them also So take care Enjoy the the new sites and adventures Judy xoxo love and hugs
Hi Hard-Working Judy Blue! Thanks for the newsy message. So sorry to hear about Vanessa's knapsack and your parking lot accident. On the brighter side, we chatted with Chloë, via FaceTime, and she said you had made an exceedingly delicious brunch when she was by to help cut Benjamin's nails. We were both saddened to hear about Mary Lee's mother's sudden death. She certainly has been through the emotional wringer of late. All the best, to you, Judy Blue. Fondestos from Lady Dar. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio!
