Love from the Felines and Laundry from the Trip Blues: Sunday, October 13th!

Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace. -Dwight D. Eisenhower, US general and 34th president (14 Oct 1890-1969)

A Happy and Very Healthy Thanksgiving to all our dear friends and family, from just around the corner, to the four corners of the World. We are ever grateful for your love and comradeship. We give thanks for these sustaining relationships and to Gaia for her bounty and beauty, as we attempt, as best each of us can, to protect and repair her threatened existence. Love and Fondestos from Chloë and Corinne and Patrick!

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well. Trust all is fine with you. We are fine and manage to keep busy. I was in Edmonton to celebrate Mom's 98th. Considering all the issues of this past winter (fractured hip, etc. etc.) she is doing quite well. Enjoy your day - will be in touch soon - when we get back from playing nanny to our granddaughters in New Jersey. Stay well. Cheers! Roma & Leonard

Hi Roma and Leonard! Lovely to hear from you and know your Mom celebrated her 98th! We are just back form six weeks in Europe. Really had a wonderful time everywhere, [Vienna, Budapest, Ljubljana, and Croatia where we ended up in Dubrovnik, travelling, by car, from Austria. Our friends, Flamin' and Sarge, flew back to Vancouver from there while we flew to Prague, then by bus to Český Krumlov, next, again by bus, to Salzburg, and then to Zurich and Bern, by train. Last two stops were in France, in Chabeuil, tiny village south of Lyon, with good friends and then by train to Paris for last four nights before we flew home. Close friends, from London, Penny and Mike, took the Eurostar to Paris and we spent two days with them, going to a fabulous production at The Moulin Rouge the first evening we were together.

Celebrated Thanksgiving dinner with Chloë yesterday. She was happy to have us home! Not sure If I ever mentioned that she is almost eight months pregnant! Happy to report that she is very well with on-going monitoring, pre-natal classes, etc. Delighted we are back, for many reasons, but also needs help with her new place, [She sold the new build she had been living in for just over a year and moved into another new build, closer to us, [on Winnipeg Street, of all things!], to reduce her mortgage payments and be closer to town so that she can walk almost everywhere.], organizing and hanging pictures, etc., setting up baby's room. Friends have been very generous with clothes and pieces of furniture, [crib, change table, and more], but some of the items need to be assembled. Also need to help her start work on getting basement suite construction underway as she'll need this income while on maternity leave.

For our part, we are both well, and will be right back into the swing of things here in Penticton. Always plenty to do around the house and garden and with various volunteer activities. Soon it will be grand-parenting duties, something you seem well acquainted with, even though we are already great-grandparents! Our youngest grandson, Alexander and his wife, Samantha, had Olivia Rose this past February. Fondestos from Lady Dar, out looking at a few pieces of furniture for Chloë's living room, to you both. Stay well. Travel safely. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Jungfrau and Alps seen from tiny village of Ortschwaben, just ten minutes from Bern, where some of our Swiss friends live; Chabeuill, at a local festival, Fête la Caillette. These caillettes have been prepared for centuries using pork and various vegetables/herbs, (cabbage, spinach, potatoe, parsley, etc.) and are shaped like a large "meatball". As well, it has its own brotherhood/guild, the Taste-Caillette, which meets on the the eve of the fair. Gorgeous home where we stayed; Moulin Rouge; Chloe's bump and Olivia Rose!

Sylvie Roy shared a memory — with Ayn P. Corinne Durston et Patrick James Dunn vous êtes toujours dans mon coeur 🥰 Corinne Durston and Patrick James Dunn you are always in my heart 🥰

Sylvie Roy is feeling grateful. The most beautiful memory I have thanksgiving is in 1988 when I was in Vancouver and I lived with wonderful people, Corinne Durston and Patrick James Dunn. Their 2 daughters Chloe Alexis Dunn and ayn p were there as well as guests! A table worthy of this family! Corinne was up very early in the morning to put the turkey in the oven and dinner she was in the middle of the table! It is very symbolic for anglophones to celebrate thanksgiving. In Quebec it's not in our traditions. Every year I have a thought for them. People of great generosity who welcomed me open arms.

Hello From Your Penticton Boy Friday! Yesterday evening we had a good flight from Vancouver to Penticton, dozing for most of the only 33 minute flight. Bump of landing woke me up. Chloë collected us. She was at a Thanksgiving dinner, to which we were invited, but by the time we were home all we wanted was to visit with a glass of wine in front of the fire. Not overly chilly but cooler than we have been experiencing for last six weeks, of course.

Happy to report that Chloë is very well with on-going monitoring, pre-natal classes, etc. She is happy we are home, for many reasons, but also needs help with her new place, organizing and hanging pictures, etc., setting up baby's room. Friends have been very generous with clothes and pieces of furniture, [crib, change table], but some of the item need to be assembled. Also need to help her start work on getting basement suite construction underway.

She picked up a turkey and we'll have it tonight. Think her close friend, Katie, and her two lovely children, Emma and Luca, will drive down to join us and stay overnight, with Chloë, as her husband is away on business. Might see if there are a number of other friends who don't have plans and invite them along as well.

Have done a bit of searching and come up with a few places that might be of interest. How large is your Airstream! Is it a Bambi 22'? Length, of course, figures in to storage charges. Since it is the weekend, and Thanksgiving as well, nothing is open. I called the facility, in OK Falls, that seems to best meet your needs, as outlined, and left a message so assume might receive a message on Tuesday:

https://www.easylockselfstorage.com/ 250-800-9918 Limited quantity of covered, powered units available, please contact facility for availability. Facility offers 200 units, 16 covered RV spots, 16 powered RV spots and over 150 open air RV spots. I think covered/powered is $79 month, although not sure if covered is powered as well.

Just a few of the other businesses I found on Web. If you take a look a their sites I can call them for more info if you'd like:

Must away as I have orders from Lady Dar to cut up acorn squash so she can get it started, along with her gluten-free stuffing. Chloë made two large dishes of her corn bread stuffing for last night's dinner and brought one here for rest of us. Mme Coriandre's version is very tasty as well as she puts in apple and plenty  of garlic. Let us know what you think about storage and we'll plan accordingly. Happy Thanksgiving, on the road. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Thanksgiving dinner preparation and, just for you, Donna Maria, Vampire Duke licking blood from turkey giblets!

We wish you and your family a most delicious Thanksgiving day filled with loving family and friends.  Dawn and Jerry Patrick, You are absolutely amazing. You just got home and already you have investigated potential sites for our Airstream. We traded in our one for a slightly bigger one going from 19’ to 23’. It was because we wanted a bigger bed that wasn’t so hemmed on. We will check the sites.

We are currently by Arcata and have spent 3 nights here wandering through the redwoods - so awe inspiring. Tomorrow we are heading to Sonoma. We will think of you at the Russian River while there. Hi all, First, thanks to Larry for choosing such a great destination for the hike last Thursday. It was a superb day from start to finish! This Thursday, Bill Therriault has volunteered to lead the hike. He is planning on doing the loop from Skaha Bluffs over the Rock Oven Trail to Heritage Hills and then returning via the Pictographs.

You will: -meet at 0900 (yes, Aart, you are reading that correctly!) at Cherry Lane north parking lot (0840 at IGA in Summerland). -carpool and drive to Skaha Bluffs parking lot -enjoy the hike. -meet afterwards for debriefing and refreshment at a spot to be determined.
Are you interested? If so, please send Bill a note and enjoy the Thursday ramble. The weather looks to be not too bad! Cheers, Jim
