It is not what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we are
accountable. -Moliere, actor and playwright (15 Jan 1622-1673)
Tummler, thanks for these wonderful pics. I cant wait to meet this bruiser. The Cudgel would be proud. This RJ kid looks ready for a hundred kms that's after a 5 mile swim in the Salish chasing Orcas. I'm in for the Movie Club, book club, snowshoeing, malt tasting... Budino Bros. might throw some plonk in. We will alternate between Penticton, Galiano, video conference and some exotic place in the sun... Will forward north Galiano snow-belt photos... sponsored by Budino Bros. By the by, Budino Brothers have just released the following for this very meteorological eventuality - Snowmagedden Ice Wine under the Zevarino Label. Pics to follow. Fond regards to all, G&J y morita

These 5 closet design tips will have you sorting and saving space in no time – just in time! Carol Hi Chooch! How did you know that Lady Dar belongs to Closets Anonymous! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Her excuse for not de-cluttering! Incredible photos! but where are the photo of the closets? xoxo Hi Closet Carolina! While neat and tidy closets are a priority for me, not so for Lady Dar, sad to say! Bit like Janice's office, as you well know! Furthermore, I have other, more pressing calls on my time at this point in the Battle Against Nearly Everything! Fondestos from The Burns Street Bistro Cats and Her Imperiousness to you and Brunello! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Lady Dar's closet in 2018 after I "attacked" it while she was lollygagging on the beach in Guaybitos/La Peñita de Jaltemba with you! Lady Dar's closet now: How she puts things away as opposed to Patrizzio! Happy now?
Hello Skating Rink People! Pretty chilly here, [Relatively "warm", -14º C, today and wind is only blowing out of the NW at 8 km/h so wind chill is not as cutting as yesterday. [I gather there were hurricane force winds forecast for Howe Sound yesterday, cancelling many ferry runs.] Two of our potted trees, under cover of louvres were blown over by furious gusts even though I had them attached, by a fairly heavy cord, to a support column! Yikes!
However, you seem to be in worse shape, at least from coverage on news last night. Vancouver looked like a skating rink! So far our Kona seems to be doing very well and Lady Dar loves it as it heats up right away. She screeches at me to start car before I even have my seat belt buckled so that she can turn on the seat warmer! Even Duke has taken to sleeping on cushion on couch in living room to keep cosy!
Over the past few days we put together four pieces of Ikea furniture, delivered last week. Tuesday we managed to assemble a bookcase for Rowan's room and a low set of shelves for under wall mounted TV off kitchen. Yesterday, two other separate pieces which rest underneath it. Quite proud of myself as these units have glass doors so quite a challenge for All Thumbs Patrizzio to attach hinges and level doors!
Will pop back today to put in three shelves in bottom units. I suggested Chloë wait to see what she wanted to store before deciding on shelf height. She was going to bring up "stuff" from storage bins currently in basement to see how things fit. Space will have to be emptied in next little while, anyway, to allow construction/finishing of suite. Must away to shovel sidewalks and then chop firewood. Fondestos from Teeth-Chattering Lady Dar to you both. Stay warm and well. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Yesterday, Flash Dance Boy sleeping on quilt, Doreen, Janet's Mom, made for Rowan James! Patrizzio's masterpiece! This morning, Pillow Duke!
After volunteering at the Dream Café, I swung by Winnipeg to collect Lady Dar and had a great visit with Rowan James. He was incredibly lively, [pushing his tiny legs against my arm], and very alert, watching me like a hawk, laughing and smiling all the while, as I waved Bob, his adorable Koala, in front of his face, at least until he started to hiccup. With Expert Grandmother directing, I managed to soothe him, by rocking him back and forth, until the hiccups stopped. By then he was hungry or wet or both so handed him back to Mom and we said goodnight.
Once home we watched the start of a new, for us, season, [5], of Line of Duty, a British BBC police procedural television series. It was ranked eighth in The Independent's list of the twenty greatest police shows of all time and third in a Radio Times poll of the best British crime dramas of all time. I think I'd have watched all of the episodes but Lady Dar was too tired to stay awake! At any rate, I decided I'd leave the dishes until morning and went straight to the bathroom to brush and floss. That's when I discovered there was no hot water! Went into the garage and sure enough the digital display was off so I knew something was wrong. Turned up the thermostat in garage, hoping this might solve problem if freezing was the problem.
Added to this, the thermostat in our bathroom which controls in floor-heating isn't working. Had to replace it this past weekend but needed neighbour, Norm, to hook up another unit this evening. Mr Fixit installed one I bought from Rona but it was a different model and didn't seem to work. Returned that one and bought latest model from same company, Nuheat. Chap at distributorship said he was amazed old one had lasted as long as it did!
We both played with controls after it was wired but were not able to initiate correct sensor setting so not sure if I'm doing something wrong or unit isn't compatible with wiring that is in place. Will try to find something on the Net that might better explain things for exact model we have. Hope it is something simple but will have to wait. Again, where is Dusty when you really need him! Lucky gas stove is still working as I'll need to heat up a large pot of water to do dishes! Maybe I'll win the lottery and then all our troubles will go away, Dear Reader! Lady Bug Boy, yesterday afternoon; Dream Café, last night, with Fred Eaglesmith and his multi-talented, soaringly beautiful-voiced wife, Tif Ginn. Back on Winnipeg with Plaid Boy and Koala Bob!
Baja2020 — day 9 (Jan. 15): another good day. We got up early, because we had gone to bed by 8 o’clock to escape the cold in our unheated rooms. (We know ... no tears being shed in snowy Vancouver or frigid Kelowna, Edmonton, etc.) After departing Restaurant Melanie, the first section of our ride was 37k of moderate terrain, leading past the inviting advertisement for the Cactus Hotel (Julia — it’s a chain!) and ending at Mauricio’s in El Rosarito. After a quick break, Tony (still slightly under the weather) took over driving from Ross and riders set out on the 80k second leg. This was for the most part almost completely flat and in one 40k stretch ran straight as an arrow. It was good riding — cool and overcast and roads new or close to it. As we entered Guerrero Negro we passed by the Half Way Inn and made our way to our hotel. A satisfying day, all in all, though perhaps not visually captivating.
