People forget years and remember moments. -Ann Beattie, novelist (b. 8 Sep 1947)
Hi Tequila Sunrise Girl! Thanks for the poncho full of Tequila! Will be dropping Lady Dar off at her Flatlanders' walking group meting spot, near the SS Sicamoous, this morning and then heading up to Spiller Road to haul more firewood. Need to work up a thirst for tonight's festivities! You still need to let Lady Dar know if she should plan to perform your wedding! Cheers, "We Don't Need No Stinkin' Mariachi Bands as We Make our Own Music Here on Burns" Patrizzio!
[Colleen Teahan Waldron Happy Birthday Patricio! Age is merely a social construction which tries to categorize us all but you are the youngest funnest 70 year old on the planet. Love you to bits!!!

#forhesajollygoodfellow Kathleen Crawford Happy Birthday Patrick!! 🎂🎉
Started out my 70th year by dropping Lady Dar near the SS Sicamous to rendezvous with the Flatlanders and then I made for Spiller Road. Hauled about fifteen sledges worth of firewood up the snow covered trail to add to the stockpile I'd accumulated, on Spiller Road itself, the day before. Friend Branko was arriving on Thursday and we had arranged that we'd collect the wood over the course of his stay. Was back home by just before 1:00 pm as Lady Dar needed the vehicle for errands and such. I had a quick bite of lunch and then headed out for a ride.
[Dear Patrick, Today is a day to relax, reflect, and recharge for the coming year. Spend your special day with the people you love the most, filling every moment with laughter. We hope the coming year is full of health and happiness for you and your family! - Your Friends at Penticton Dentist Enamel Dental Centre] Another
lovely day and the wind wasn't too, too bad, [It was out of the N at
between 13 kph to 20 kph over the course of the outing. First time it's
been blowing from this direction as it has been gusting, and fiercely so
out of the S for the last month, if not more!], so given my time
constraints I decided I'd stick fairly close to home in order to dash of
a fairly quick ride that would have me back on Burns in plenty of time
to ready myself for dinner. Did just that and as I followed my Hamster
Cage route around the South Okanagan Event Centre I marveled at the snow
covered hills and the snatches of blue sky peaking through the low
cloud cover. Had I not spent most of the morning hauling firewood I
would really have liked to have gone for 71 km jaunt, to celebrate my
age, but had to be content with my basic distance. Nevertheless, pleased
to have done both. Cheers! Map and Stats for ride:

Lynne and Peter were coming over for drinks and hors d'oeuvres at 6:00 pm so I was back in plenty of time to put on a fire and then shower and change before they arrived. Chloë had had a pedicure that afternoon so she was home just before they knocked on the door.
We had a lovely hour or so, chatting and sipping. I received two bottles of Portuguese red from them, [Had one on Thursday night and it was delish!], a fabulous pair of cycling pants and snazzy blue jersey, from Lady Dar, [tired of my homeless look!], and a gigantic bar of Marzipan, [my favourite next to Cabury's milk chocolate/hazel nut], latest Van Morrison CD and a handsome, zippered cardigan from Chloë, also despairing of my indigent fashion statement! Tinsel Town Folk had arranged, via Lady Dar, for a smashing bottle of Bourbon, Basil Hayden's, (suggested by Alejandro and Xaverino, Bourbon specialists in their own right), and Peter and I had a couple of snorts before we headed to Villa Rosa Ristorante Italiano. Had never been before, although Lynne and Peter had. Enjoyed a wonderful meal, [veal is their specialty], and three bottles of Pentâge Cabernet Franc so I was pleased Chloë was the chauffeur!
Hello Manitoba! Trust you are both well. Thanks for the birthday wishes. Unfortunately, we won't see you in January as we will be away until the end of February. All the best, Maya and Family Hi Maya! Thank you, so very much, for the birthday greetings and kind thoughts! Well, Sunshine Coast Lady, must away as I need to ready myself for bed. Hi Patricio, Great to hear from you. How funny - I was wondering about you and Corrinne just a few days ago. I'm sorry you're so far away now, but it sounds as if all is going well for you, and is very busy. Happy 70th! I hope you have another huge party after the Wednesday fun.
My parents and I are going to Vermont for Christmas, where my brother now lives. He has a little girl of 5, so we're really looking forward to Vermont fun. His wife's extended family lives there too, so we will have lot of family time. His parents-in-law live for half the year in an old homestead in the hills, with about 10 neighbours or so. Entertainment in Lyndonville is sitting in the sun room and watching the donkey across the street have disagreements with the wild turkeys that come out of the woods. It's quite a life! It's a very storybook Christmas.
And oh yes - a big range of interests from me - from royal family to labour representative! I'm still teaching in the English dept., but also doing a lot of work for the Faculty Association and for the Canadian Association of University Teachers in Ottawa, so I'm doing a lot of travelling within the country. Still haven't made it to the Maritimes, though. I would love to come and visit in the summer - wine country, here I come! All my best to you both, Sarika

Hello Rosemary Clooney! Say hello to Bing and Danny when you are staying at the Columbia Inn in Pine Tree, Vermont! [Interestingly enough, my Dad was born in Norton Mills, Vermont.] Trust you are all well. Storybook Christmas indeed! You do sound quite busy with CAUT. Keep up the good fight!!! Be terrific if you do visit this summer. However, if possible, make it after mid-July as I will be in Europe from mid-April until then, as I'm doing two bikes trips as well as visiting with friends in Oslo, Aarhus, Berne, Lyon and London. Until next our paths cross, Betty Loop, take care of yourself. Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year to you and family! Cheers, Patrizzio!
