This early evening, we enjoyed a traditional turkey done in a stand-alone, electric roaster, with squash, Brussels sprouts, whipped mashed potatoes, three kinds of stuffing, [Chloë's cornbread, corn and sweet pepper admixture, plus two of regular dressing, one gluten-free, made with Gala apples I picked myself!], and plenty of wine, of course. We had invited good friend, Linda Ervin, retired United Church minister, we first met in Vancouver, now living in Penticton. Everyone was so full from wonderful dinner that we had no room for Christmas pudding!

Hello dearest Corinne, Patrick and Chloe, somewhat belatedly, but better late than never, I figure! It’s the intention that counts, ha-ha! Besides, is anybody keeping track of the days? Especially you retirees (supposedly). Happy Christmas and Merry New Year from our doggone family to yours!! May your days be filled with lots of family and friends, bountiful merriment and joy, yummy foods and no post-dinner naps from over-food-exertion!! (ARNE!!) Sorry I have not been in touch much (at all). Mom is at the forefront of my life, not to mention work. I was at mom’s early November and have to go back early January (next week?) and move mom to a secured Memory Ward facility. She began wandering. My Christmas present from mom’s senior’s complex ☹. Hi Yda, thanks so much for the greetings. We had a quiet Christmas. Patrick and I will be leaving Dec. 27 to drive down to LA for New Year's and to go on a trip to Costa Rica. We will spend a month there and then come back and drive around the US visiting friends and then plan to be home in late Feb. Had a long talk with Laura recently and she mentioned your many trips to see your mother. It must be a worry for you. She sounded well and excited to be going to Germany for Christmas. My mom may come here for some weeks in March. It would be good for her to have a change. If she doesn't come I will fly back to Manitoba for a visit and to give my brother a break so they can take a short trip.

Homo Erectus! Merry Christmas Pat and Corinne, …and thank you for the clever e-card. We’re heading off to Kaitlyn’s in-law’s place this evening for din-din As we speak, I hear Sally chopping cabbage for “Apple Slaw” which we’ll bring to the party. After she finishes I’ll prepare “Best Green Bean Casserole”. I’m looking forward to working in the kitchen, especially since we have 3 electric space heaters fired up on the counter to warm the house. Our furnace conked out last Friday and can’t be repaired until Wednesday. Today the temperature in Winnipeg is -28C with a -41C windchill…the coldest Christmas here in 20 years! We are using 5 space heaters and our kitchen stove to keep the house at about 62F.

We’ll leave you with some recent photos of our 10 month old grandson Kellan. Several weeks ago he skipped the crawling stage of his personal development and stood up using a coffee table for support. He’s been doing this ever since and always shuffles around the table counter clockwise, never clockwise. We hope all is well with you and yours now and throughout the new year. At first I thought you were selling Viagra! We will spend Chistmas with Chloë, leaving her the day after Boxing Day, to house/cat sit, driving to Tinsel Town for New Year's with Ayn and Los Horridos. We will attend Alex's graduation from the LAFD on January 4th and then fly to Costa Rica on January 7th. Will return to Tinsel Town on February 4th to spend a couple of weeks visiting friends in Palm Desert, Sun City and Sedona, and then a week or so back in LA before heading north towards the end of February. Lady Dar is quite involved with Oasis United, in Penticton, and needs to be home for an important meeting in early March.
