Manning Park Compact Snow Blues: Thursday, December 21st!

I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is: I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat. -Rebecca West, author and journalist (21 Dec 1892-1983)

Fortunately, for us, the Hope-Princeton was even better than when we drove down on Wednesday. Compact snow 40 km before Princeton and then most of Manning was same. On return only Manning had compact snow and the rest of route was dry and completely clear so we were home before 3:00 pm, having left at 9:00 am and stopping at Costco, in Abbotsford, for gas, $1.17/l, and a few groceries/staples.

Hi Mariola and Michaelo! Thank you for the spectacularly wonderful Christmas card! What a phenomenal view, at any time, but for a White Christmas! Wow, indeed! Happy Christmas to you, Michael and Mariola, and family, from all of us here at Burns Street, and a Healthy New Year to one and all. Fondestos from Lady Dar & Chloë! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Burns Street Elf responsible for putting lumps of coal in naughty bidders' stockings so watch your point count Michael! Hello Famiglia Durston! This is the view from our friend's place in Summerland. Michaelo is in the hiking group as well as our bridge group! Happy White Christmas! Cheers, Patrizzio! [they are not having a good time with the fires up there this year. Patti]

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR: Have a lovely holiday season, celebrate in your own way. A week ago we had our picnic, here are a few shots to refresh your memory about that pleasant event. Good company, lots of goodies of every kind, singing carols by the fire and even a wee scramble up the canyon rim. Could hardly be any better. Cheers, A

Hello! Just sending out greetings for the coming holiday season and the new year ahead! Hope the holidays will be wonderful and the new year in 2018 the
brightest and best possible for you and yours! As usual, I've posted my Xmas card illustration online on my blog. The link below should take you to it! Deborah: <www.deborahsawyerart.blogspot.ca>

2017 Holiday Greetings! This year, for my Christmas cartoon/illustration, I took a different tack than usual. It's a combination of futuristic idea and wishful thinking: What if all those Xmas trees we grow and then kill couldn't be killed anymore, but instead would be used as living trees to help re-forest swathes of the planet?I know, I know... wishful thinking.

Years ago, my parents actually tried this. At the time, we lived somewhere where the ground didn't freeze in winter. So they bought a small potted fir tree, used it in the house over the holidays, then planted it in the backyard in January. This went on for a few years until the tree objected - and died to prove its point! In my scheme, we wouldn't dig up and re-use the trees, it would be a one-time rental before permanent planting. Not sure what I'll draw next year... but whatever it is, it will have to go on much brighter white photographic-level paper. The "white" of my sketch pad isn't white enough and, as they say, the camera (which I use to shoot the drawing) never lies! Wishing everyone a very happy holidays season and the very best of new years in 2018!
