When people are fanatically dedicated to political or religious faiths
or any other kind of dogmas or goals, it's always because these dogmas
or goals are in doubt. -Robert M. Pirsig, author and philosopher (6 Sep

Look forward to seeing you next week, and will stay with you on Thursday & Friday if still clear. Have the 2006 Rockford Basket Press Shiraz, and will also being along something from Walla Walla. Cheers, Grog & Lurch Hello Madroña Manor! Have booked you in for the nights of September 13th and 14th. Basket Press and Walla Walla sound fabulous! Hope to have The Burns Street Hot Sheets Hotel and Gin Joint ready by then, post-kitchen renovation cleanup and furniture re-arrangement. Big push, (literally), today is to move the large TV armoire, now in living room, into our bedroom. Lady Dar's desk and bookshelves are already in Rumpus Room. Did that yesterday evening. Once we have moved books from bookshelves in our bedroom, that stand will go into living room. Smaller than armoire so will give us more room for dining room table and chairs. Still want to paint a few walls but will take a rest for a few weeks, to live with new space and see what might work best.
We have weekend passes for Pentastic Jazz Festival this weekend. [Funnily enough, we stopped in at Caparone last February on our way back from Tinsel Town, and chatted with Mark, David's son. I knew he played the trumpet and his dad, the trombone. On last visit I picked up a couple of CD's by Mark's wife. She has a wonderful voice and we really enjoyed them so I asked if she had recorded any more. Unfortunately, she hadn't although Mark was at her to do so. At any rate I happened to mention Pentastic as music is similar to what they both perform. Mark said he knew all about festival, (One of many in a circuit from Oregon to Idaho, and perhaps beyond.), although he and The High Sierra Jazz Band have never made it to Penticton.
I also mentioned that we were most taken with Dave Bennett, a multi-instrument phenomenon, a clarinet virtuoso who also plays electric guitar, piano and drums. [He brought two bands to Pentastic last year, The Dave Bennett Quartet, (Reincarnation of Benny Goodman, playing swing, moody blues, and emotional ballads.), and The Memphis Speed Kings, [Sizzling Rockabilly and Rock 'n' Roll, the music of Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry and others! Wowsa!)] Mark replied that he had seen Dave, a week or so ago, when they were both playing on a jazz cruise! Looking forward to seeing Dave again and chatting with him about Mark. Unfortunately, Caparone is maturing in Portland!
Must away as Lady Dar is barking out orders to start readying Rumpus Room for more furniture! Stay well and we'll see you next week. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Tomatoes and peppers from our garden. The former are some of most delicious we've had all summer, rivaling those from Farmers' Market, while latter have a nice bit of heat! The kittens at the SPCA. Back home after an exhausting day! Lady Dar's daycare on Tuesday!
Hi Jodie! Thanks for notice of release. While we won't be able to collect wine, [Lady Dar, wearing her Wedding Officiant hat, has a wedding, at Poplar Grove, I believe, at 4:00 pm, Saturday, and we have weekend passes for Pentastic.], our daughter, Chloë, will be going down to Osoyoos, with a couple of friends from Vancouver, to stay/freeload in our suite at Spirit Ridge, (Nice life if you can get it!), so I've asked her stop in. Please put a lock on box! Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! Pic: For visual identification purposes: Chloë holding Duke, with Katie, close friend from Vernon. Check Chloë's fingerprints as well. See if her thumb print works on iPhone! Thank you Patrick, I'll put a note on your package that Chloe will pick up. I'll tell the staff to give her the 3rd degree LOL. Enjoy the Jazz Festival. Jodi B
Winnipeg - Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure Team Marlo is named for our friend and colleague Marlo Jurkowski. Marlo is a lovely young woman with a husband, two beautiful children, a great career, and a cancer diagnosis. Marlo gives so much to everyone around her and volunteers countless hours of her time for good causes like the Girl Guides of Canada and the United Way. We, her friends and family, want to honour her by giving something back. The Team Marlo "brand" was created with love by Marlo's children Emmett and Quinn. We're very proud of it!

Kitchen is "almost" finished! Flooring is still an issue but is fine
until transition strips between cork and tiles are installed and top
step lip, (to Rumpus Room), are put in place. [The trades-person is
supposed to come at 9:00 am, this Saturday morning to finish lip and once that
is done we can move books back onto the sectional bookshelf which had
to be lightened in order to move it away from steps so that work could
be completed!] Cabinets, sink, etc., are all now in use and we are
very, very pleased with everything, particularly the "island" surface.
Still need to figure out which drawers or cupboards should hold what but
initially just wanted o get things out of packing tubs/boxes and then
live with things for a bit to see what might work best, where, in terms
of efficiency, ease of access, etc.
Moved
last bit of heavy furniture today, the TV armoire from living room,
into our bedroom. Lady Dar's desk and book shelves are now in the
Rumpus Room but until the tubs and tubs of books are back on their
shelves, it is a bit difficult for her to really organize her new space.
However, think it will work well once she can fine tune everything.
With all the things we needed to do to ready the house for The Clan Sutherland Freeloaders, I wasn't able to suit up and ride until just before 5:00 pm. Sarge has mentioned that they were planning to leave Vancouver by 3:00 pm so he expected them to be in Penticton around 7:30 pm, +/-. This being the case I knew I wouldn't have time for a 51 km ride but nevertheless wanted to log at least two-thirds of the distance, part of my scale-up plan. Decided it was easiest to follow the tried and true route regulare so did just that and after I'd increased the world-wide Gravol sales by about 1000%, I made for home, hitting the back driveway at just after 7:00 pm. Had just stored my Trek in the garage when Flamin' waltzed in the front door and almost simultaneously Sarge barged into the garage with armfuls of food, not meant for us, Dear Reader, but for their coming stay at Spirit Ridge. Freeloaders indeed! Anyway, I was pleased to see them and pleased as well, with my ride, inching my way towards the first goal I'd set for myself, once back on the road. Cheers! Map and Stats for ride:
We enjoyed a 2009 Warrabilla Durif, Limited Release Parola's, 18%, from Rutherglen, Australia, last night. I had first visited the winery in 2003 and then took Michele and Wayne there when we were back in 2012. They brought it for dinner, Lady Dar's fabulous home-made, thin-crust, gluten pizza, garnished with zucchini from our own garden! We have one bottle left so will probably have it when they are next back. Although the alcohol is sky-high the wine really doesn't taste "hot" as it is extremely well balanced. [Although it obviously "unbalanced" Kid Chelene as he smashed a Poplar Grove wine glass after taking a few sips. Fortunately the glass was empty and he only required forty-six stitches!] Quite an incredible drop, indeed!
Pics: Please identify which individuals, (human or feline), had too, too much Durif! Latest furniture configuration!

Hi again,
Jodi! Thanks. While you are at it, shine a bright light in her face
while you are grilling her! Cheers, Patrizzio! PS:
