The Walking Wounded & The Bookshop Blues: Thursday, September 20th!

It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it. -Upton Sinclair, novelist and reformer (20 Sep 1878-1968)

Had a pretty good sleep, (almost finishing my book before turning out the light last night), so was up at 6:00 am this morning. Still very little discomfort but I walk quite slowly and carefully, bending down gingerly when necessary. Am planning to take a few naps throughout the day as we have tickets, (Penticton Art Gallery's Kitchen Stove Series), to see The Bookshop, (with Emily Mortimer, Bill Nighy and Patricia Clarkson), at 4:00 pm this afternoon and then Book Club at 7:00 pm. I have a small cow bell, (from Peach Festival Parade), so I plan to sit in a comfortable chair, during discussion, and ring it to summon Lady Dar to pour more wine whenever my glass is empty! Might be the Walking Wounded as another member, Judy Ritcey, fell, quite heavily, and broke her ankle when walking home for our Open House last Saturday! Fortunately, not on our property, so Tony Hancock will be pleased to hear that!

Ragin' was supposed to be heading back to Vancouver today but has postponed departure until tomorrow. Mick and company dropped by around 10:30 am to see kitchen and as they were having lunch at Liquidity we asked them to pick up our wine release at Noble Ridge. [A few minutes ago, Mick just delivered Noble Ridge release.] Other friends, Luise and Dave, now from Denman Island, along with couple, Heather and John, from St Johns, (both couples taught at Memorial), were to  drop by to see kitchen, en route to staying at Black Widow's rental cottage for weekend, earlier this afternoon. At the moment we are still waiting for them. Will have to give them a call if they don't appear soon as we will need to leave in about 45 minutes in order to find decent seats a the cinema. Just did and they are still in Oliver, wine-tasting so we have arranged to see them tomorrow.

Nice pics.  Will call you when on way. Glad all went well.  More like 10.30 ish . Ok?  Hope this gets you phone and wifi reception spotty Hi again, Polly! Glad you enjoyed the snaps. 10:30 am-ish is fine. Ragin' might not be up but Lady Dar just clambered out of bed and is putting on her Tour Guide Hat! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Corinne and Patrick, Thanks for making our time in Naramata so lively. Loved your kitchen renovations and wish you health and happiness in this lovely space. On this very rainy day in Vancouver, it's good to look at these sunny photos.

Corinne, you mentioned you had been to Argentina - if you have any standout suggestions about what to see outside of Buenos Aires, I'd love to have a few details. We've booked a flight for 3 weeks later in November and have definitely decided on Mendoza, and not heading south very far. We're also thinking about Uruguay, Salta and environs and perhaps the Iguazu Falls, and a few other places, but would be interested in what you enjoyed. Lynne and Peter showed us their itinerary, and they definitely enjoyed the above destinations. Thanks, Jocelyn

Hi Argentinians! I presume Lady Dar has replied but I just wanted to say hello as
well. Have a grand time in Argentina. Travel safely and hope to see you again, in the not too, too distant future. Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi to everyone, Phil and I could host next week but not on Wed or Thursday. Please let us know if you want to do a Monday or Tuesday bridge night next week. We are leaving to go south for the winter on October 18th and would like to have a farewell pot luck here at our place before that - with bridge to follow. Jos gets back October 12 so was thinking could we have a get together on Monday, the 15th. Who would be available then? Bye for now Gill Marlo was supposed to have chemo today but has a cold so the chemo was cancelled. Blood work Monday showed things still good & kidney functioning normally. On another note thanks for supporting Team Marlo in the CIBC Run for the Cure! Team Marlo has raised $24,600 as of today. This is only $400 from a new record for donations from a team in the Manitoba Run for the Cure.

Today Mark Chipman , Exec Chairman of True North/Wpg Jets donated 4 Jets tickets to Team Marlo for a draw for members of Team Marlo. Not sure of the actual details of the draw or how this came about but great news! Team Marlo also has a tent on run day from CIBC (as one of top three teams in the Mb Run)! Talking about food/snacks on Run day at the tent. George
