Lava Rock and the Planter Paver Blues: Friday, May 24th!

A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do. -Bob Dylan, singer-songwriter (b. 24 May 1941)

Hi Chloë! Just wondered if you wanted to stroll down Ellis this evening to take in Ellis on the Rise Block Party? I plan to go if only for a quick peek. If you want to join me we could time dinner for when we return to Electrical Avenue! Cheers, Dad! Pic: Etta loves IPA!

Hello Favourite Squamoids! Trust all went well with closing up cabin. Thanks again for such a wonderful weekend, food, bridge, wine and benchmark marital bliss! Trip back to Penticton went well. In and out of Costco, and Kelowna, so pleased about that. Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Little Shuswap. [Will send another couple of messages with rest of photos!]  Additional Pics: Rosetta Stone and More! Greetings from Duke and Etta to Arya and Sansa! It was wonderful to see both of you and catch up! Have a great summer! Hopefully, we can do this all again sooner than later!

Ruth Argon Solar install: Good morning! Just wanted to let you know that your solar array install went very smoothly on Thursday. The racking/rails, optimizers, and solar modules have all been installed! The next stage is to connect your inverter, and grid tie your system.

I wanted to let you know that we generally make it good practice to 'light up' a clients system the day we complete installing the modules. So when I got to the shop this morning, I did inquire why were unable to have an electrician on site to complete the install. I found out that it was originally planned that we would have an electrician to complete the grid tie yesterday, however there was emergency call. My head electrician will be contacting you sometime to book that final step either today or Monday when next week is being planned.

I noticed Patrick, that you were taking a few pictures of us, so I wanted to share with you our view from above. Hope you like the photos. Sincerely, Jonathan
Hi Southside! Thanks for great pics and explanation. Dean was just by and he felt electrical would start next week. He felt job should be relatively easy, in terms of running lines, etc., so that is good to know. Enjoy the weekend. Cheers, Patrizzio! My pics: Roof Rats!

Texts: Check your phone! Hello Text Man and Canada Post Woman! Thank you for the terrific fridge-magnet card, Marps! Lady Dar has it on our fireplace mantle at moment so I'll have to wait until she decides to change arrangement to put it on the fridge! Text Man, [Happy Belated Birthday, youngster! Both Lady Dar and I turn 72 this year!], sent me an email to tell me to check my phone messages so I'm being inundated with almost every sort of communication known! I really don't use my phone except to use if when walking, [AllTrails app], and now with various apps for our Kona to find and use charging stations.

Nevertheless, I understand from both of you that you will be in Osoyoos for June 3rd and 4th. Are you planning to stay in Penticton, as well, or just passing through on your way back to Vancouver? You are more than welcome to stay with us, either before or after Osoyoos. If that isn't possible, or desired, let us know if you'd like to have lunch, [on the 5th?], before continuing on your merry way. In any event, we will be home that week so no reason not to connect, one way or another. Thanks for the article on the Golden Mile Bench. I often cycle through Oliver, [When staying at Spirit Ridge or simply for training for GranFondo], so I'm fairly familiar with the area. The Whitneys have often invited us to dinner, as a thank you, when they've stayed with us, to Mirador, at Tinhorn Creek. They have bid, a couple of years in a row, on a two night stay at the winery, one of the items at Dram's silent auction.

Lady Dar had X-rays yesterday and an ultrasound today. Fortunately she doesn't have a blood clot but I don't know more than that. She left, shortly after returning from hospital, to help with set up for a GFA fund raiser tomorrow, and she isn't home yet. She's still hobbling a bit but is able to get around, not too, too badly although her calf is still quite sore.

Sorry to hear about your Dodge fiasco! What a drag. You need an electric vehicle! I did know Richard, peripherally, through Sheryl. Haven't seen Elizabeth, Brian, Connie or Joan in years but bumped into Lynne last year at the Folk Fest. Didn't know about Martha! Wow! Last we saw of her. [She was University Librarian at Queens, by then], was when we were staying with a cousin in Kingston and we had drinks together. Will have to arrange a trip to Harvard to get an inside tour! Stan Brown rings a bell but I can't place him. Was he in Faculty of Ed?
Yesterday Argon Electric, from Oliver, began the work of installing solar panels on our roof, along with a Tier Two charger for our new electric vehicle, a Hyundai Kona. We are very pleased with how it performs and we've already driven it into Vancouver. Electrician was over this morning to scope out house and see where best to run wiring from solar panels to electrical panel and from inverter to Tier Two charger. Work will begin on Monday or Tuesday so we are looking forward to being off the grid! Not really, but our small part for climate change. Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Dear Patrick Love your red umbrella!!! Also those solar panels are amazing.
Stan Brown was in PE I believe. Glad to know you are around on June 5th -- we will be travelling through--thanks for your kind offer to stay but we do need to get back to V. to complete tasks before our quick trip to Beijing. Will confirm properly once we are home from Qualicum Beach. Here helping Colin's mother for a bit. Cheers for now Hope Lady Dar is feeling better. When are your birthdays?? Had forgotten that you and and Lady Dar are in your 70's yikes!! Feels weird to realize how time is passing us by. Good gardening to you! Jo-Anne

Hi Soon-to-be-Beijing-Bound Folks! Wow! Jet Setters indeed! If it's Tuesday, it must be the Great Wall! Let us know your schedule when you are back from crossing the Salish Sea but please plan on stopping for a bite of brunch/lunch.

Enjoyed a stroll down Ellis, a few blocks over from us, this evening as there was a bit of a street festival, Ellis on the Rise. This part of Penticton, paralleling Main Street, is starting to develop a character of its own with new housing developments being built next to existing, interesting businesses such at Cannery Brewery and Mile Zero Wine Bar. Much of the activity was for families with children but fun, nonetheless. Met a number of friends, Lynne, who attends Oasis with Lady Dar, and Carol, on my bike trip in Poland. Fondestos from Lady Dar and Chloë to you both. Stay well. [Lady Dar's birthday is July 19th, Chloë's, August 18th and mine, December 6th.] Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Ellis with Lyn and Carol. Thank you Patrizzio. C.

Hard times: We had a tough morning on the links on Cape Breton! Hi Cape Breton Golfer! Nice life when poor Pentictonites are slaving away, installing solares! Enjoy the rest of your holiday. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Roof Rats, (my snaps), and result, (Argon's)!

Hi Patrick—Wow, what a job. Looks good, though, and will be a great addition (pun intended) to your house. Speaking of, thanks to Corinne and you and Chloe for a lovely evening at Burns Street last week. I can hardly believe that a whole week has gone by already. I am so engrossed in attending final appointments for a variety of things and, of course, continuing with sorting, winnowing, discarding, etc., etc. in preparation for the arrival of the movers this coming Wednesday.

I’m sure you all know of which I speak when I say I can’t believe how much we managed to accumulate over our years here. And, to top it all off, the blinkey-blank gate broke again. I fear our only recourse now (after several attempts to rig up a repair) is to replace the whole thing … at great expense, which the new owners do not have to share unless they want to replace it with a whole new system. If this turns out to be the case, I think we might get them to pay for part of the costs. We’ll see … Enjoy your weekend. Cheers, Lynnie Patrick, Very impressive installation, Peter

Hi Lynnie Can you please remind me the name of the movie we saw last week, the Glaswegian country singer?  One of my colleagues would like to see it.
❤️
Hi again, Patrick—Can you help Peter out here? I can’t recall and can’t find/don’t have any info here. Many thanks! Wild Rose! Too, too much packing related stress, obviously! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi all, This Monday's hike starts at Mahoney Lake and wanders the forested area to the West looping around 6 lakes ... though some may be puddle sized given the low snowpack. Logistics: Meet at Home Hardware at 9am (nine) and car pool to Mahoney. Southerners can meet the group at Mahoney; Summerlanders the usual carpooling at IGA & leaving for HH by 8:40. No need to reply, just show to go. Cheers. Phil
