Juno Rides the Monster Truck Blues: Tuesday, June 13th!

Lower your voice and strengthen your argument. -Lebanese proverb

Monday was a travel day.  After a leisurely morning in the County, we headed out on the Loyalist Parkway to the Glenora ferry.  After crossing over we went up to the 401 and Montreal.  We checked in to our hotel and then dropped off our rental car.  We decided to go to Schwartz's Deli for a smoked meat sandwich.  On the way there we stopped to take in a few performances at Francofolies.  Not sure how many stages, but we saw at least 3.  This afternoon we will go to the Chagall exhibit at the Muses des Beaux Arts,  and this evening, dinner with Ruyun and Peter.  Tomorrow - Newfoundland.

Greetings to you from Montreal. Hope this email finds you well. We had a great visit with Nathan in Prince Edward County -- it is a beautiful area of Ontario. We had a great wine, cider and beer tasting day on Sunday.

Now we are in Montreal. Last night we went to the Francofolies--celebrating Montreal's 350 birthday--great Francophone talent and the night air was really delightful and the moon three quarters full. Went to Schwartz's for a smoked meat sandwich -- it was scrumptious. Glad to know you are well. Off to the Musee Beaux Artes today and then to Ruyun's and Peter for supper. Jo-Anne

Dear Patrick Had a great day in Montreal. Went to Old Montreal and wandered around. Thought we would be connected to Cites Memoires celebrating Montreal's 375th birthday! Alas you need to download an app to view it properly. To say the least Colin and I were not "appy". However, the day was saved as I went to the Musee des Beaux Arts and saw a wonderful Chagall exhibit. I had no idea he designed costumes and sets for ballets and operas. It was an intriguing exhibit plus the Love is Love display by French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier was most intriguing.

Had dinner with Ruyun and Peter in their lovely highrise apartment overlooking Montreal. Was lovely and Peter is holding his own. Anyways we are off to St. John's this morning. 2.5 hour flight. Temperatures in St. John's are much cooler than here. High of 15 and low of 4-5--and possibility of rain. Take care for now and be sure to have a great Father's Day weekend! As ever Jo-Anne

Hello Montreal/St John's! Sounds like a great trip and you haven't even started on Screech! Had a fabulous hike on Monday. My first since last August. [Report below if interested.] Was extremely pleased with how I felt. I've been cycling pretty regularly so my overall fitness is not bad but quite a different set of muscles used in clambering up steep slopes, over fallen logs and then back down once we've reached a given destination. Then two tables of bridge in Summerland that night.

Branko and Juno arrived around 5:00 pm this afternoon and Etta and Duke were not overly happy, although Juno isn't at all aggressive. She lives with a cat of her own in Vancouver so is used to felines. Will see how things develop here over net few days. Plan to do a number of rides on the KVR and weather is cooperating so should be most pleasant outings.

Chagall exhibit sounded fabulous. For our part, we are off to
Penticton Art Gallery's 40th Annual Art Auction this coming Thursday so looking forward to that. Includes dinner and Lynne Lighthall is joining us as Peter is away on another consulting trip. Are you attending a conference in St John's?  We had a boozy evening last night, with friend, Judy, over for dinner and more bridge. Started out on the front patio with drinks then moved under louvres for hors d'oeuvres then to table for bridge before dinner inside. Travel safely. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Drinks and dinner and bridge and Duke's response!

Hi Patric, This is Ed. Are you still looking for wood? I know some people who are planning to cut trees. Ed Hi Eduardo! Trust you are well. Thanks for thinking of me. Yes, indeed, I'm always looking for wood! Not sure when your friends will be falling trees but my friend, Branko, just drove up, from Vancouver, with his daughter's pick-up, so if trees are to come down before Sunday, we could come by. Otherwise, I'll be happy to use our car, the way I did with red maple!

Missed you on Monday's wonderful hike. Thanks again, Let me know details and I'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi all my bridge friends, Next week we will be back home. So, looking forward to the exciting game, and whatever transportation arrangement. Cheers. Mike
