Being rich is having money; being wealthy is having time. -Stephen Swid,

Up at 6:00 am as Duke was making quite a bit of noise with his new cat bag in the living room. Miss Etta, fro her part, was a wild horse so I let them out the patio door to allow them to burn off some of their energy outside! Had planned to return to bed, for an hour or so but once I'd removed the barricade from the garage cat door, I felt like staying up. Fixed myself a mug of java and then the felines' food fare before sitting down at my computer.
Hi Fast Eddy, et al! Thanks for great bike joke! For those of you not in the loop: Do you ever ride your bike to the liquor store?
I went to the liquor store Friday afternoon on my bicycle, bought a bottle of Scotch and put it in the bicycle basket. As I was about to leave, I thought to myself that if I fell off the bicycle, the bottle would break. So I drank all the Scotch before I cycled home. It turned out to be a very good decision, because I fell off my bicycle seven times on the way home.
Sounds like you make a good case for drinking and driving, a car! On the cycling front, however, I went for a terrific ride yesterday. Very, very pleased with outing as it is my first 100+ km ride in some time. Big news here is that Chloƫ is moving to Penticton! She has a job with a property management firm, here in town, and has put contractual wheels in motion on a new condo in Sendero Canyon, to be completed by April/May of 2018. She was to have vacated loft on October 20th but date has just been moved up to first week in October. This suits everyone but it means we have to get all our ducks in order, regarding packing/moving Chloƫ's possessions and readying our place to accept them, very, very soon! As part of Lady Dar's decanting process, must away as I want to fill up another knapsack's worth of books, for Book Shop credit, and then have a quick shower before I meet her at the Farmers' Market. PAG is also having a garage sale so we will stroll there after market. Take care of each other and hope rest of last long-weekend of summer is relaxful. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Corinne, Jim and I are heading up to your part of BC tomorrow morning. We're going to be house-sitting (in a matter of speaking) for Lynne and Peter for this coming week, and will be doing the usual biking, wine and peach tasting. If you and Patrick are around, let's plan a get-together. We know we will head to Osoyoos one day to visit a friend, and want to get up to the Kettle Valley Trail for some biking. Jim is working on a list of wineries to visit, but apart from that, we have no fixed plans. Looking forward to catching up on all your activities,
Jocelyn
Hi Jocelyn, we are definitely around and would love to see you. I have a meeting Tuesday night and we might be playing bridge on Wednesday but no firm plans for any other time. Give us a call when you are here, Cheers Corinne
Freeloading in The Naramata! Hello House-sitters! Grand news indeed! Look forward to seeing you both. Your schedule sounds busy and full. Quite a few of the "smaller" wineries, (Terravista, Synchromesh, for sure), are already sold out and closed for season. I'm sure, however, that there will still be more than enough to satisfy your thirst for vino. On the cycling front, I have planned a 100 km KVR ride, (From our place to Little Tunnel and back and thence, along the Channel to top of Skaha to take it along west side of lake to OK Falls. 12 km worth of dipsy-doodling in Penticton, before I hit KVR to ride north and then a similar sort of excursion, on Oliver Ranch Rd, for extra distance to make circuit 100 km, before returning to Penticton, either on KVR or Eastside. Haven't yet decided which route to take home. Any interest, in all or part?
On the bridge front, would you like to join our group, James, next week for an evening? I'm sure Lady Dar would be happy to visit with Jocelyn, and others, no matter where we play. We rotate venues. At any rate, just a suggestion and I know everyone would enjoy meeting you and learning from your duplicate expertise, as would I, it goes without saying.
Give us a shout when you are settled and we'll plan accordingly. Loads to report when we do get together so pick up cases of wine! If coming Hope/Princeton, Twisted Vines cidery, in Cawston, along with Orofino, Clos du Soleil and Corcelettes, (Fabulous new Tasting Room, just about completed last time we were there, with a stunning, spectacular view across valley to magnificent rock faces.), are all worth visiting but you probably know about last three if not first. Travel safely. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Cruel Swiss! Trust you are both well! Where are you? Just trying to plan your visit so let us know when you intend to arrive at our "exact street address"! Until we hear from you, all the best. Travel safely. Cheers, Patrizzio! Good morning, we arrived in VC and stay with Michele and Wyne..so we are looking forward to see you in Pentincton,; the 19ths ! Cheers Hello again, AMT and RR! Welcome back to Canada! Thanks for arrival date. Not that it matters, overly, but when do you anticipate you will be arriving in Penticton? I assume, some time in late afternoon/early evening. Will you be driving from Vancouver or Banff? We will have dinner here that evening but timing isn't critical so don't feel constrained. Nevertheless, let us know your thoughts and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Katerina! Trust you are well and have enjoyed your summer. How did your various cycling trips go? To this end, I am writing to you to ask a number of questions about the biking trips you may have planned, or would be willing to plan, for next year. A number of friends, here in Penticton, have expressed a definite interest in the sort of riding trips that you have organized and led. You might remember Mary Lee, (Unfortunately both her parents are not well and she is back in Ontario for two months), as she attended your talk, here in Penticton, this past winter. She, and perhaps her husband, Paul, are interested in Poland, as well as and/or the Czech Republic/Slovakia, depending on dates. For most of the people I've chatted with here, four or five, to date, the time period from April through May would be best, [although with some flexibility], as many have other travel plans for later in the summer.
First question, allowing that a trip to Poland is a possibility, is about the weather, in April and/or May. Would it be conducive, ie., reasonably warm with little, if any, rain during those months? I know you cannot guarantee anything, especially the weather, but what is your informed opinion? Same goes for Czech Republic and/or Slovakia or any other countries in Europe you might suggest for a biking holiday during this time period.
Second question involves some of the partners who might not wish to ride. If such was the case, would it be possible/feasible, from your point of view, to have the group rent an appropriate vehicle to carry luggage between overnight stops, those driving going ahead to pre-booked accommodation, to sight see, shop, relax, etc., on their own, and then rejoin cyclists, at some point in the day, at the hotel/hostel, for more sightseeing and meals? Should you not be willing or able to accommodate such a trip, as outlined, I am sure that there would still be enough cyclists, [at least in the group I've chatted with], who would be willing to carry their own basic gear throughout the two weeks, in the manner you have outlined for past excursions.
At any rate, when you have time, please let me know your thoughts and we will plan accordingly. All the best. Cheers, Patrizzio! You should probably send this to Greg and Clair , they have planned to go In June but might be interested in what you are doing Flamin'
