The Hollow Men: Between the idea / And the reality / Between the motion /
And the act / Falls the shadow. -T.S. Eliot, poet (26 Sep 1888-1965)
Up at 7:27 am to head over the gym again and was very pleased with the morning's workout as I was able to push the calorific expenditure to 1053 over 70 minutes and 3.7 miles on the Elliptizer. Back home to enjoy my breakfast of sausages and over-left salad from yesterday's delicious take-out lunch that Chloë had treated us to, from Delicious. I had waffles with avocado and slices of green apple.

Quick shower and change and then Sarge dropped me off to have dinner with Ragin'. Fabulous meal and then I walked back to GI to arrive around 9:45 am. Quite enjoyed the evening stroll seeing all the new construction I'd not been aware of.

Conflict: I am so sorry to be missing the book club again, but it is the night that Noble Ridge set for our end of the season staff party and I really want to attend it. It is also the night of the Fest of Ale volunteer appreciation BBQ but I had already declined that in favor of the book club, but our staff party is another thing. Hope you have a great time, and hopefully the next meeting will be OK for me to attend. Please let me know what book is chosen. Judi

I have a request from one of our colleagues for a contact email or phone number for Pat Dunn. My normal way of dealing with this is to contact the person and leave it to them as to whether or not they wish to correspond. The phone number and email address I have for Pat are not working. Is anyone in contact with him? If so, please pass this message to him so I can update his info and pass along the message from our colleague. Thanks, Nadine Hi Patrick, Someone is looking for you! I've already sent your email to Nadine, but I thought you might like to be in touch as well. She did the hard work to have the retired librarians luncheon happen at UBC last week. A small, but fun gathering. Hope the various moves and family support are all going well. Cheers, Jocelyn
Hi, Nadine --Today's Van. Sun has an obituary for a mutual sailing friend of mine and Pat's from the 1970s. Pat and Corinne used to live on south False Creek near the Granville Is. causeway up to 5 years ago, but may have moved, as not listed on Canada411. Would you happen to have an e-mail address for him? I've never been actively on the UBC system, so would rather try you first. Sorry to bother you twice in 10 2 weeks! -- Elsie I got the updated information I need in order to contact Patrick. Thanks. Hi Pat. Over to you if you wish to respond. Elsie's email address is below. Nadine.
Hi Elsie! Trust you are well. I must apologize for not being in touch sooner. VWF was a whirlwind of activity and you were right, I did have the date of Captain Haddock's memorial wrong. Had it been on Saturday, I would have been able to attend. As it was on Sunday, I couldn't. I was Crew Captain for both Brunch and Afternoon Tea and my shift went from 7:30 am until 7:00 pm. Not complaining but I really didn't have a minute to spare. Had meant to call you before we left Vancouver but again, had so much to do that my good intention was lost in the shuffle. All the best and Cheers, Patrizzio!
Dear Patrick & Corinne, Hope you are both well. Just checking in to find out whether we are on your “Wish List of Friends” when you come to the island in October? This weekend we have friends in and then for Thanksgiving John’s nephew but after that the month is free. Once again too we will host our annual New Year’s Day Open House. So looking forward to seeing you so do let us know what your very busy itinerary is looking like for October? Love, Jean & John Hi Jean, we are in Vancouver helping Chloe to move to Penticton. She starts a new job as a strata manager on Monday. Will live with us for the winter and then move into a new town house which is under construction now. We are back to Vancouver on oct 16 for writers fes. Right now don't think we will get to the island this fall. I will call for a long talk soon, Love to you both, Corinne
