Chloë's First Kelowna Run & The Brick/MEC/Costco Blues: Tuesday, October 3rd!

As societies grow decadent, the language grows decadent, too. Words are used to disguise, not to illuminate, action: you liberate a city by destroying it. Words are to confuse, so that at election time people will solemnly vote against their own interests. -Gore Vidal, writer (3 Oct 1925-2012)

Hi PQ Goil! Trust drive went well. If you have time to visit MEC, a box, (four cylinders), of NuuN electrolyte replacement tablets would be terrific but not a big deal. More importantly, a package of paper towels from Costco, in spite of Lady Dar's eco-reservations on such usage! Travel safely. Love and Cheers, Dad/Patrizzio! Pics: El Diablo! Royal Bengal! Duvet Girl! Duke's new spot for a nap! Lady Dar at PAG fund-raiser, with our doctor, Paul Cobbin and his amore!

Hi Wayne and Michele, thanks again for your warm hospitality. Chloe is settling into her room and off to work this morning. The house and workshop are packed to the gills. See you Saturday! Hugs, Corinne You're welcome any time !! we are probably going to be at the farmer's market on Saturday with the kids! See you then M It is also the Orofino pick up party. C
Hi Flamin' and Sarge! Just a quick note to echo Lady Dar's appreciation for your always more than generous hospitality! Thank you both for the First Class accommodation! I apologize for not sending along these snaps sooner but must admit it has been very, very busy with Chloë's move. All went extremely well so very pleased about that of course. Chloë is even starting to come to terms with living back with her demanding parents!

As soon as I post this message I will be sending along a couple more, of Charlie's gathering and dinner with Kathleen/Stefano.
Do hope I might see you at Orofino but not at Market as I plan to ride to Cawston with Bill, husband of Pamela, in our bridge group. We will leave around 8:30 am so you might pass us on the highway, heading for pizza! Until then, take care of each other. Fondestos from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Elite bridge! The Sisterhood! Dinner this past Saturday, with Craig, husband of Olga Polga, just learning to play bridge. Chloë's stuff in our garage!

Finally had a "free" morning, this morning, to devote to answering and sending messages/snapolas to many of our recent visitors/Freeloaders but it was not until early afternoon that I was ready to hit the road. Wind was not quite as fierce as day before, but blowing steadily out of the N at 23 kph, switching to NNE at 19 kph, without the maddening, hurricane gusts, fortunately. This being the case I knew I was in for The Gravol Grand Prix. After PTC started out with a KVR to Vancouver Ave run and then dipsy-doodled the side streets thereabouts before making for Riverside.

The wind was so strong along Lakeshore that I opted for the far more sheltered circuit around the South Okanagan Events Centre and gerbilized myself enough times to push my AVG to 20.6 kph, using the tail wind to maximum efficiency on fairly long stretches there. With wind having shifted to the NNE, by the time I was ready to head back home, I chose to ride along Westminster as it is far more sheltered than Lakeshore with the wind whipping across the lake and covering the surface with endless whitecaps. [AVG had dropped to a dismal 17-18 kph on hill climbs on KVR and surrounding side-streets, more from wind resistance than grade.] Even so, I had to battle straight into the head wind on White and my AVG dropped a smidge by the time I was at the garage door. Still, day was bright and sunny so ride was invigorating, although I was mildly annoyed at myself for not taking a closer look at my trusty odometre before pulling into back lane as I was under my basic distance by .25 km, hence not an Official Ride, Dear Reader! No Ragin' Bull with a sore back to blame. Just Me, Myself and I!!! Hope that Wild Bill and I will not have to face such vexing winds on our ride to Cawston this coming Saturday. With any luck, Aeolus will push us along all the way to Orofino! Cheers! Map and Stats for ride:
