Love Seat for Lady Love Blues: Thursday, August 23rd!

Learning is weightless, a treasure you can always carry easily. -Chinese Proverb

Hi Ragin' Trust you are well. How is your Dad? How are you? Thought that you might enjoy this post: Croatia’s Plitviče Lakes National Park. Reading about it and seeing some of the gorgeous scenery I feel even more badly that the snow prevented us visiting, way back in 2007! Guess you and I will just have to make a return trip. Fondestos from Lady Dar, to you, Ragin'. Stay well. Cheers, Il Conduttore! Pic: Molly Maid swabs the deck!

Glad to hear everything is nearly finished at your house & that Chloë ‘s move went ok, she will need 2 boarders to help with that mortgage. Yesterday Betty came & stayed with me, while David & Phil went golfing. At five they picked us up & took us to the new club house for dinner. The new building is very nice, sure an improvement on the old one. Today at 1:30 I went with David & Betty to the church to see a film & have a discussion on it afterwards, led by the minister. I forgot my hearing aid so didn’t get much from it, my own stupidity!

I didn’t get any zucchini, they had flowers but nothing developed. The tomatoes are so -so, not the amount I thought we ‘d get. The best plants were the ones from the school that we bought here. Lots of beans & George dug up some carrots & potatoes on the weekend. Lots of Swiss chard too & raspberries.

George said they couldn’t get Mar’s port open, finally after 2 hours they got it flushed out, must have been tiring for her. Quinn & Emmett are at Y camp for these last 2 weeks before school. Mike & Rebekah are both so quiet, Greg said he had a hard time keeping a conversation going. Mike does like to play board games, so does Greg so that helped in the evening. Glad you are having your hernia op done. Dusty wore a belt, guess the thought he was too old to have an operation. Take care. Clara
Hello Falcon, et al! Sounds as if you are busy as ever, dining at the new club house, watching Silent Films, (!), and eating fresh garden produce! Say hello to Betty for us. Very sorry to hear about difficulty with Marlo's port. Please pass along all our love to her.

With respect to my hernia, I'd take Dusty's belt if you still have it around, as I'll wear it until operation is scheduled. Would feel better when doing chores, especially when lifting, etc. No big deal but perhaps you could pack it in a large box of $100 US bills and sent it along! Glad visit with Rebekah and Mike is going well. You should play four handed cribbage, you and Grog against the youngsters!

On the Reno front, gas fitter has not yet hooked up stove-top although the venting was put in place yesterday and after I vacuumed, Lady Dar mopped the floor and then started moving furniture around. Every time I looked, floor plan had changed! A new "love-seat" sofa is to be delivered today so re-arrangement will really start to heat up! Mike, our general contractor, came over earlier this morning and will be in touch with various trades-folk regarding last bits and pieces: Electrician can now hook up last outlet on island, now that venting for stove is in place, as well as energizing plug for dishwasher, [Had to buy a new KitchenAid as old dishwasher wouldn't open properly in new under-counter space!], and changing plates on last few outlets in living room, now that one can actually get to plugs in question.

Mike will also contact company that installs appliances as wall oven needs stabilizing trim and microwave trim kit is still in the box. Plan to have fridge moved into place when this happens. Even though it is on rollers we are concerned about not scarring cork flooring. Tile people are to come next Tuesday to do back-splash, etc. Once grouting is cured and sealed, Tom will mount two "floating" shelves above the sink. Then Mike will return to paint ceiling and a few other touch-up spots, put trim around door to Rumpus Room, build frame for small trap door to attic, as well as some niggly drywall work in Rumpus Room and around electrical panel in our bedroom.

Lady Dar is still waiting on manufacturer's rep to take a look at cork flooring. [Next week, we hope!] Two different dye-lot batches were installed so a very noticeable difference in colour on living room side of island. She is very, very unhappy, as you can well imagine. If entire floor has to be replaced it will be a mess as counter kicks are already in place! New lip on top stair to Rumpus Room is still to be installed so until that work is completed we have piles and piles of books on couch and elsewhere, moved from shelf unit that will need to be pulled away from stairs to allow lip to be put in place.

Would be great if we could start using gas stove-top and wall oven by week's end but if not, bbq will have to do. Lady Dar did fabulous pork loin on Tuesday so we are not starving to death. She is off at yoga class as I scribe and then has two meetings for weddings she will perform this weekend. Life of a Marriage Officiant! Well, must away as I'm peckish and want to have my yogurt with local peaches and cherries. Apples will be next. Fondestos from Lady Dar, in absentia, to one and all. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Judy Blue! Trust you are well. Have an apology to make: Found your bridge table! Finally able to move some of the boxes out of our bedroom and it was behind some large pictures! Sorry for being so sure that you had collected it! You must have wondered about our sanity. At any rate, we'll need it next week as I think we'll have another full, two-tables. Are you able to play?

Well, must away as I have to re-arrange a couple of shelves in Rumpus Room to make room for last box of foodstuffs, cans and bottles, items not in regular use. Fondestos from Lady Dar, practicing her ceremonies, to you JB. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: New love seat! and two new swivel chairs waiting to find their home, somewhere in living room!

Hi guys and gals, Just to let you know we are still alive. We did our Munich to Vienna bike ride along the Danube just great. The weather was perfect though a little hot in the 30 degree Celsius level the whole time. Scenery was great Vienna sublime. Then off thru Austria to Innsbruck for a few days, then Switzerland. Our ride was to be from Oberwald to Geneva down the Rhone river valley any way we got lost in the Alps bit of a riding challenge. The short of it was Claire had a tumble with only 5 kilometres to go broke her helmet so bit lucky there, massive bruises and generally not happy so we then took the train to Geneva over the next 5 days just fabulous.
At some point we decided never again but when we got home we are planning a Bike and barge from Bruges to Amsterdam 4 star then a sail boat and bike around the Friesian sea west coast of the Netherlands all up about 16 days of riding with a stop in between to travel around the Netherlands. How are you guys going to go the Hawaii this year as it seems the islands are about to be blown away though according to the great Trump this is not climate change what a half wit he is. Cheers Greg and Claire

It seems like Clair is trying to top Patrick's escapades excepted he did his Tumbled and ended up visiting 3 hospitals in 3 countries !! Sounds like a great trip , when are you doing the next one? We have booked to go to Italy in September with a possible foray into Croatia ( Dubrovnik, split , Havr) but could be pursaded to look at joining you on your part of journey if it works out.

Everything is good here kids have all moved away, Corey now in Penticton, Nicole is pregnant and due again December, Ryan has new job with mining company outside Kamloops. Cheers, Michele
