Up with life. Stamp out all small and large indignities. Leave everyone alone to make it without pressure. Down with hurting. Lower the standard of living. Do without plastics. Smash the servo-mechanisms. Stop grabbing. Snuff the breeze and hug the kids. Love all love. Hate all hate. -John D. MacDonald, novelist (24 Jul 1916-1986)
Hi Sarge! Thanks again for all the wonderful, wonderful meals. Great to see everyone. On wine front, we have already collected our Black Widow release but still need to do so at Popular Grove and Township 7 so no trouble to stop by and pick up your release. We can store it here until Flamin' is back up in August to grandparent. I gather she has a booking at Burns Street B&B although I can find no record of advance payment, as required, now that kitchen debt is mounting at a more than alarming rate. In any event, let me know if pick-up is still required.
After hearing from Chloë that Duke was hurt Lady Dar managed to make an appointment for him at the SPCA. Once we'd packed up, we were home by 1:30 pm and Duke was moving pretty slowly. Chloë had locked him in our bathroom with food and water. At the SPCA he was very docile as he was examined. All his vital signs were normal so that was a relief. When Dr Mike gave him a thorough examination he found nothing of concern other than a tiny puncture wound on his left front leg, the one he was limping upon, consistent with a cat fight, given other indicators. He shaved the area around the wound and once exposed he felt it would heal nicely. He gave him an antibiotic shot, good for two weeks, and three capsules for "pain management", to be administered, orally, over next three days. Lady Dar gave him first one last night and he took it easily as medicine is chicken flavoured! Almost like a classic Clan Sutherland BBQ but far tastier as I licked syringe!
We let him out on back patio, on a leash, and he slept on one of the chairs as we ate dinner. Once we went to bed he slept until 4:00 am, at Lady Dar's feet. I let him out, again on a leash, at that time, and we moved slowly around garden for a few minutes until I decided if he was going to pee he would have already done so. Took him back inside and Lady Dar let him out, about an houur later, and then he was ready to go. He seems to be starting to return to his "normal" self this morning so we are pleased about that.
Before Chloë left for work we moved the new door, for the Rumpus Room, from the back of the The MarriageMobile, into the hallway outside spare bedroom until it is ready to be installed. We picked it up at Windsor Hardware after we had taken took back home. Could hardly move in front seats as we had to move them right up in order for back door to close. Before that we collected stove top at appliance store. Counter people are coming tomorrow to take exact measurements and there is some faint hope that sink might arrive next Tuesday. If not we will still be doing dishes in bathroom sink until mid-August! Anyway, things are gradually taking shape.
Tell Nicolina that she can return to Burns Street as Lady Dar has re-arranged patio furniture so lounge chair is ready and waiting, along with spray contraption. You might remember that when she was pregnant with Jaxon she just lay in chair with cool spray wafting over her, barking out orders for chilled, non-alcoholic drinks, for almost three weeks, if memeory serves me well! Anyway, must away as I have to start on mile-long list of chores Lady Dar pinned to my forehead, to create a matching scar from one I received in Kraków fall, before I was up! Fondestos from Commandant Coriandre to one and all. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Corrine and Patrick! It was lovely meeting the two of you as well! Thank you for sending along the photos from the night. We made it back to our hotel and back to the lower mainland with out incident. We stopped off at River Stone and Fairview Cellars on our way out of town. River Stone has a Sparkling White Merlot that a couple of people recommended that we try. I am not always impressed by bubbles as they have a tendency to not agree with me, however, I found this to be very good. Both events this past weekend were lots of fun and will definitely be attending future events. Will let you know when I plan to come back to Penticton next! Until we meet again! Kara

Hi
Kara! Pleased
to hear all went well on various legs of your return
journey. We had planned to stop in at River Stone this past weekend,
when back and forth to Osoyoos but events conspired against us. [Our
male cat, Duke, was in a serious fight with another feline from
neghbourhood, this morning, and we had to come back from Spirit
Ridge, in a bit of a rush, to take him to the vet.] Quite
the character is the owner/winemaker at Fairview Cellars but I've always
enjoyed his wines. Have not tasted there for some time but really liked
his Sauvignon Blanc and The Bear, I believe. Bestestos to you and Penny,
from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Patrick and Corinne, Thank you for the pics. Great memories of the Poplar Grove event and visit with you. Your photos of the Upper Bench bash make us so envious of your life in Penticton - three winery events in three days! We appreciate your invitation to stay during our next trip to the Okanagan. However, since we’ll have a friend along, we have already made reservations for a two-bedroom unit at the Coast. We are hoping we can meet up with you again some time during our 3-day trip, though. We hope the wildfire dangers abate and that you can continue to enjoy summer on your lovely patio. Cheers, Dana
Hi Dana! Pleased
to hear you enjoyed the snaps. Understand completely about not staying.
Do hope we'll manage to get together over the course of your visit.
Just let us know, closer to time, what your schedule involves and we can
plan accordingly. Fondestos to you and Wayne, from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!
