Post-Election Overhang Blues: Sunday, October 21st!

Advice is like snow; the softer it falls, the longer it dwells upon, and the deeper it sinks into the mind. -Samuel Taylor Coleridge, poet and philosopher (21 Oct 1772-1834)

Quite early this morning, El Diablo discovered the floating shelves above the sink and Lady Dar found him playing with the turkey wishbone I had placed in a small dish there, to dry out, teasing it to to his obvious delight. He was not happy when she wrestled it away form him, fearing, of course, that the brittle bone might shatter and cause problems if he chewed it and tried to swallow the bits.

Aart has been cavorting in the sunshine so I will send out a message about tomorrow. The weather has been great and tomorrow should be lovely as well so we will do a last bike ride before it gets too chilly.

We will ride from Summerland Sweets down the KVR to Penticton and go in there somewhere for coffee (to be decided by the latte addicts), then back either on the highway or the KVR trail back again, with a stop at Summerland Sweets for another coffee or ice-cream.

Meet to carpool at HH at 0910 and then at Summerland Sweets at 0930 (to give it a chance to warm a bit). If you need to transport a bike, phone someone with a pickup or a large bike rack. I can pick up Summerland bikers if they need it. See you then Cheers Tony Argghhhh! Can't do the ride tomorrow as planned, as it appears the trestle is closed for maintenance. (Thanks Teresa and Pete for letting me know). So we can do the KVR trail from Wright’s Beach Camp by the airport to OK Falls and stop there for coffee. Meet at Summerland IGA at 0910 and at HH Penticton at 0930 and proceed from there. I will be at S’land IGA if bikes need transporting. I hope there are no more obstacles. Cheers Yes, that's a great ride! Meet where? Aart Map and Stats for ride: Summerland and the Crescent Beach Blues!

Hi all, Larch are now in their full autumn glory and Rick has offered to lead a return trip to the area above Skaha Bluffs to catch this display at its peak. Instead of starting at the Skaha Bluffs parking area as we did for our hike to the same area with Phil last month, We will be starting from the Wiltse Flats area and following some bike paths to the SE towards Charcoal Mtn . According to Rick, this should be a shorter route to our destination than starting at Skaha Bluffs.

As always: - Meet at the Penticton Home Hardware parking for a 9:00 AM carpool departure. - Summerland people meet in the SE corner of the IGA parking lot before 8:40 for carpooling to Penticton. ( if no one else shows up please be prepared to make your own way to Penticton) - Carpool to the starting point in the Wiltse Flat area, - Hike up to the band of larch trees to view the beautiful fall colours. - At the end of the hike retire to a yet to be determined destination for liquid refreshments. Time 4-5 hrs. Please let Rick or me know if you are coming. Peter
