Post-Election Minority Blues: Wednesday, May 10th!

The closing years of life are like the end of a masquerade party, when the masks are dropped. -Arthur Schopenhauer, philosopher (22 Feb 1788-1860)

Up earlier than usual this morning, keen to hear about the neck-to-neck election results. However, although the Liberals have 43 seats vs 41 for the NDP, the race is still on with recount possibilities and absentee ballots yet to be counted. Still cannot believe that the electorate didn't want more sweeping change than this. Will the Green Party side with Christy or John?

Loads to do to ready the house, garden, bedding plants and ourselves, (packing, etc.), for the coming trip into Vancouver for Lady Dar's Library School 40th reunion this weekend and then Winnipeg for Dusty's funeral, on May 17th.

Hi Janet!
Just a quick note to let you know that Corinne's father died last Friday. When in town, will give you a call, at some point, to try to arrange a time to pop by. Fondestos from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Gayle and Derek! Not sure if you might have heard already but just a quick note to let you know that Corinne's father died last Friday. On another, more trivial matter, unfortunately, the pictures you included in the body of your last message didn't come through! Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Sir James and Lady Patrizzia! Trust you are both well. Sorry I've not responded sooner to fabulous material from France. I take it you are going? Lucky chap indeed! On a much more sombre note, Corinne's father died last Friday. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Favourite Naramatians!I know Corinne has already informed you of Dusty's death but wanted to thank you myself for your sympathy. See you at UBC on Friday! Perhaps we'll have a chance to figure out chain saw timing during reunion activities. At any rate, I'll be home for rest of May once back from Winnipeg. Travel safely. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Bridge Fans: Thanks to Olga Polga and Craig for hosting such a congenial evening! Bison sausage was fabulous indeed, so thanks for that and other tasty snacks, [not to mention the incredible home-made chocolate chip cookies], Rolly Polly!

Many of us are away next week, [Travel safely to The Netherlands, Jos and Aarturo, to Edmonton, Olga Polga], so will let Spiller Folk see if there are enough people around, interested and available to play. For the following week, the evening of Thursday, May 25th has been decided upon. Lady Dar and I are happy to host unless someone else would like to do so.

Date for following week has not been set but Rolly Polly and Craigola have very kindly offered to host a Bridge and pot-luck BBQ evening on June 6th so everyone who plans to attend needs to think about menu items to contribute. Of course, we can work out those details over coming weeks. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Summerlanders always stick together! Moon over Burns Street, once dropped off by Phillipo The Chauffeur!

Hello Favourite Summerians! I know you know of Dusty's death from talking to Josinta last night. As well, wanted to send along Bon Voyage wishes for your coming trip to The Netherlands. Also, quite enjoyed the tennis racket guitar and Tune-Agers videos. Fondestos from Lady Dar. Take care of each other. Cheers, Patrizzio! Thx Ollie for last night. I'm backpacking next Tues and Wed so not available either. We'll host on 25th as not done for a while. Gill

Thank you Olly for hosting, and Patrick for organizing. Safe travels to all the travellers. Corinne and Patrick keep going strong, we will be thinking of you the coming days. Looking forward already to our gathering on June 6th. Jos We heard from Patrick about your Dad so wanted to contact you. Take care on your travels and see you when you get back. hugs from Gill

Yes, we are so sorry to hear any news like Dusty's........and at coffee a few days ago; I mentioned his name at coffee with the boys.....you could hear all the conversation about him; and how popular he was. So many knew him; at work, and even at Falcon; where he was supposed to retire.....he just kept going; a great example of a great man. Sandee and I are going to attend his funeral; so possibly we will get a chance to chat.

You folks keep so busy; and love the looks of those shelves......we sure could have used something similar at Falcon; when we lived there. Sandee and I are quite busy as usual.....she had meetings this morning; about her computer; then from noon until two; at the Food Bank, for homeless here in town.....every other Wednesday. Keeps us going....now she is heading for her dr's appointment.....so keep well, and try to rest once in awhile......Love, A & S xxxx

Thanks for the update, Patrick. We’ll look forward to catching up with you and Corinne at the reunion. If there is anything Peter and I can do to help in any way at what we know is a difficult time for Corinne and you, please do not hesitate to call on us. Warmest wishes, Lynnie
Hi Patrick. Just wanted to fire off a quick email to offer our condolences on the news of Corrine's dads passing. I'm sure it will be difficult for her mum after so many years together. Audrey is still finding it difficult after Brian's passing but as she said after over 60 years together life could never return to normal.
Unfortunately Barry is getting quite bad (dimentia) and I do feel sorry for Marg since she is finding it incredibly tiring and frustrating.

We continue to have a very dry Spring. Never known so little rain so having to rely on the water hose to keep the garden green! Problem is we pay an awful lot for water in England so I'm having to ration it. Suggested to Gayle that she only bathes once a week but that suggestion met words I am unable to repeat here!

We are hoping to visit Canada again next year since Gayle wants to do the Alaska cruise with Alan and Loretta (Delta folks) so will make sure we get together at some point.

Will write more when you get back from Winnipeg. Strange that those pics didn't work. Have attached a few more. Haven't heard much from Krissy lately. She seems to be working all hours at her new job at Bridge Brewery but as Gayle said, no news is usually good news!
Kind regards to you both from the two of us
