Hi She Rides Goil, et al! As of this writing, I calculate we will have seven players, eight if Olga Polga is joining the gang. This being the case, we'll need two tables, Judy Blue, and I'd bring eight prizes, [Top score can be awarded two!], Naramata Goil! Thanks. See everyone this evening. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hello Bridge Prize Winners! Thanks, first and foremost, to Judy Blue, for hosting such a wonderful, wonderful evening, complete with bridge tallies along with delicious snacks and wine! Thanks as well, to the itinerant bridge prize gypsy from Naramatia, for supplying such fabulous bridge prizes! A new standard has been set. Bring your pick-up trucks, next week, players all, as you'll need a half-ton to haul away what Josinta will be offering up for grabs!
Please let me know who will be playing. Those from Upper Penticton, and environs, are welcome to car-pool with the Burns Streeters, departing 6:10 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Magnolia Blossom Bridge! Hi Judy, Just a quick note sending you a huge "thank you" for a lovely, lovely Bridge evening with the most delicious snacks!! I really enjoyed it. Thanks again for hosting. Hugs, Olly
Hi Destructo Man! Thanks for the latest round of fabulous special effects clips, [Great work indeed so congratulations!!!], as well as the stupendous nature stills and stupefying Grande and maniac surfers! Certainly gives our "grandes" in Guyabitos/Sayulita another meaning and context! Wow!
Have been pretty busy ever since Ragin' Bull arrived, a week ago today. He left yesterday afternoon. Sunday, we worked for about twelve hours, finishing around
9:30 pm, when we put in the final shelf on last of the three wall units. (By then Ragin' had already cut most of the needed shelves so only required a few spacers/supports as we built each unit.) Quite a wonderful project that he designed once he had an idea of what we wanted.
We took a trip to Rona, day after he arrived, and Lady Dar approved 12' x 8' pine laminate boards. [Next phase is to stain and then Varathane them.] Over the course of his stay we had tickets for two movies, hosted bridge on Friday evening and then dinner with Jugos Dom Pedro and Lynne on Saturday. In between we moved one of the large storage lockers from the south side of the house.
Decided to take off the doors for easier handling and once that was accomplished, (but four hinges to unscrew), we tipped it onto its side and then using two, 2" x 4"'s, we pushed/pulled it to the front patio, then onto the front sidewalk and into place on the other side of the house. Felt a bit like one of the Pharaoh's slaves, erecting the pyramids, although Ragin' mentioned that at least they had wooden rollers to move the quarried blocks! Pleased as punch as this large, upright locker will be perfect for storing all sorts of garden tools, (rakes, brooms), and our two snow-shovels, etc. Will even have enough room for a shelf at the top for more storage of sprays and the like. Unit fits just below the roof overhang so it will be very well protected from rain and snow.
When at Rona, the first time, we bought three spruce 4" x 8' planks to use to extend our vegetable garden plot. As it happened, chap we asked about planking
showed us some cast planter blocks which had just arrived. These have slots for the planking so will make the extension easy peasy, lemon squeezy! Lady Dar has already removed the lava rock covering and cut back the heavy plastic underneath. Still need to put the frame in place and then will beg Jugos Dom Pedro to haul us a trailer load of top soil. Will be heaven for our new red kale bedding plants! Seemingly, all of the garlic, from JDP, last Fall, which we planted in early November, is shooting towards the sky so am absolutely delighted with this. Rhubarb is growing like a house on fire so we'll certainly need the extension for the other vegetables we have in mind.
Must away as I want to do a bit of light sanding on shelving and then vacuum up dust so that we can start the staining process. After the units have had a coat or two of Varathane, we'll move them away from the wall as Lady Dar wants to paint. I'll have plenty to do working on the upright storage locker. Unfortunately, we simply didn't have enough time to construct the three bike lockers which will go on the same side of house. Ragin' did do a quick design so I think I'll be able to build them on my own. Will construct them from material salvaged from the other two lockers, and will be, basically, like the upright, with modifications, obviously, tipped on its side. Will incorporate a number of 2" x 4" uprights into these units so that it is possible to hang ladders and lumber above the bike storage units. Each will have a hinged door, with a small roller on leading edge, that will swing open to allow a bike to be wheeled in or out.
Simply gorgeous day today so I plan to go for a ride once I've finished sanding and vacuuming. Only rode once while Ragin' was here. Weather for first few days wasn't particularly conducive for cycling and we were happy to work on shelving anyway. Saturday was fine so after we cycled down to Farmers' Market. After a quick look we came back home to drop off my panniers and then we headed up the KVR for the Little Tunnel. Unfortunately, Ragin' hasn't been riding all that much so even though grade is pretty slight, (2%-4%), he found constant uphill pull a bit taxing. Added to that, Lady Dar and I, (Ragin' wasn't interested.), had tickets for a choir performance, at 2:00 pm, so had to be home by at least 1:30 pm. By 12:45 pm we were still 6 km from the LT so I knew I'd be late, given pace, if we went all the way to the entrance. Ragin' understood so we headed back and then, a km or so later, he had a flat, near Arawana Forestry Road. I had to leave him but he said he would be fine and could fix the leak.
Once back I asked Lady Dar to phone him to make sure he was okay. Turned out he had patched the tube but once wheel was back on he discovered it probably had another puncture as tire deflated! Lady Dar wasn't feeling all that well so had decided not to attend concert so she went to collect Ragin' and I walked over to the Shatford to hear The Tune-Agers belt out their repertoire.
Chloë and Lady Dar's sister, Pamela, (in Vancouver on business), will drive up on Thursday, for weekend, so I have orders to have back patio cleared of all the "junk" decanted from the three storage lockers before they arrive. I hope to "sneak" away, for my ride, before she returns from errands! Fondestos to you and Marilyn. Let's chat soon about your next visit and more. Cheers, Patrizzio!
Pics: Master Carpenter and framed units with approximate placement of turntable; upright storage locker; KVR; Dinner with Naramatians; Finished product with two shelves tailored for CD's and five shelves, fitted with half inch doweling at back edge to support vinyl albums, at an angle. I still need to tack quarter round molding onto lip of those shelves to keep albums from slipping off.

Hi Patricio Hope you and coriander and the kitties are well I miss you and am trying to catch up on my correspondences since finishing classes last week. I want to run a date by you...we were hoping to come freeloader for a few nights possibly july 7-9th if that is suitable. And also to extend an invitation to you to come and visit us in the valley as it has been so long since we had the pleasure and would also love you to see our new pad.
I am home from Belize on June 22 and most weekends are still open. I will be working alternate Fridays in new west and plan to come in those weeks for a few nights prior to train clients but aside from those times you could come weekdays or weekends which ever suits you. Please do let me know we miss you both and look forward to seeing you soon. Lotsa love Marilyn xoxoxo
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Patriçio, Here I am, back from the OK and all at home is still OK. I really enjoyed my visit, thank you for your hospitality, but … if you ever expect me to visit again, the toilet paper roll in the guest bathroom *must* roll off the top, not the bottom.
I tested one of those oatmeal stout beers last night, and I will be putting in a beer (and scape salt) order for your next visit. Details tba. Please note that two bottles of “Sarge” wine evaporated on the trip, but could be resurrected in return for a “get-out-of-a-speeding-ticket” pass. Looking forward to my next visit! Now, back to the grind. Como se dice … see the tag line. Branko
