Just think of the tragedy of teaching children not to doubt. -Clarence Darrow, lawyer and author (18 Apr 1857-1938)
Hi everyone, Phil and I are good to host on Tuesday 22nd and it would be great to see you after being away in the US for the winter. Sorry but I'm not going shopping and preparing food so as usual you'll have to do with chips and herbal tea!!
In the future I'm not going to be available for most evenings until after I have my surgery which I'm now told will not be until after October. I want to do activities in the day and now with my hip/knee/ankle issues after being out in the day I don't want to do anything in the evenings and going to bed around 9. Phil says he's not keen on going every week but I'll leave it up to him to follow up.
If anyone would like to play during the day, anytime would be good for me, am or pm. Please let me know if a daytime bridge session would suit anyone??? Also please let us know who can make it on Monday and can you be here around 6 till 8.30ish. Thanks Gill Hi Gill. I can come next Tuesday...see you at 6pm. I will bring something for the table. Thanks. Dianne sorry everyone. Yes we are going for next Tuesday not Monday as i said in last line. Welcome back Gill and Phil, you missed another awesome winter here 😜 Thank you for hosting. See you at 6:00 at your place. Cheers. Mike
Hi
Jack Rabbit and Phillipo, et al! Thanks for hosting. I take it most people who
have replied, so far, prefer Tuesday, April 23rd, [Hip Hip Hooray for St George!], for the gathering, so let's take
advantage of Spiller Road hospitality and meet there at 6:00 pm so that
Gilliana can be in her pajamas by 8:30 pm! Pentictonites, let me know if
you wish to carpool. If so, you need to be at Burns Street by 5:30 pm.
Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! HI Gill, Welcome back to you and phil. I am not able to play this week..Enjoy good cards and comradery Judy
xoxo
Hello Constant Gardener! Trust you are well. Thanks for the green thumb tips!
Fondestos from Lady Darjeeling to you, Chooch, and Brunello! Stay well. Happy Easter! Cheers, Patrizzio!
Caro Patrizio, the people on the pics, look so very comfortable at your house. You sure have a busy life, makes me dizzy just reading about, never mind being in it. But it is good, one always learns and it is stimulant. Good conversation, wine and song. Ha ha...... and there was more ??? ..... The shooting in Penticton was so horrible, I did not realize, it is fairly close to you. I still do not grab the reason for it, was the shooter temporarily insane. How can you have a feud with your neighbour and go and grab a gun????? We had our shooting on the street in Vancouver, 4th Ave. and Burrard, targeted, the victim dead. I just had passed through that intersection from WV, at 8.25 PM and the shooting started 8.30 PM. Scares the dickens out of me.
Patrick, do you remember, Iza LaPonce?? she passed away a few days ago. Which is a blessing, she already was at CROFTON as posh care home on 41st Ave. I always liked her. Here it is Thursday and a rainy one, will go to COSTCO soon, have a long list for Roman (my godson) and a bit for myself. The rest of the day I be home. Easter weekend I play my ear, Lunch at Roman's on Saturday. The young folks have extended family, due to partnership or marriage. Until we talk again my friend, Happy Easter Love Gisela
Hello again, Costco Woman! Trust you are well especially after your own near brush with extreme violence! Wow! On a much lighter note, funnily enough, we made a run to Kelowna, this Tuesday, to do a large shopping run at Costco ourselves, many of the foodstuffs, etc., we needed for coming Easter weekend.
Rosemary and Andre left for Kelowna this morning and, just by chance, René Goldman, a retired prof from the Asian Studies Department at UBC, now living in Summerland, walked by our house, walking his dog, Charlie, as R/A were leaving, while this wife, Terry, was running some errands. We met him, a number of years ago now, at a UBC Alumni gathering in OK Falls.
Just back from seeing Sir, part of PAG's Kitchen Stove series. Set in Mumbai, the film tells the story of Ratna who works as domestic live-in help with Ashwin, a man from a wealthy family. Although Ashwin seems to have it all, Ratna can sense that he has given up on his dreams and is somewhat lost.... On the other hand, Ratna who seems to have nothing, is full of hope and works determinedly towards her dream. As these two worlds collide and the two individuals connect, the barriers between them seem only more insurmountable. Another truly remarkable film so cannot recommend it enough.
Must away as it's time for dinner and watching latest episodes of Victoria that have piled up! Fondestos from Lady Darjeeling to you, Gisela! Stay well. Happy Easter! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Last night after dinner! This morning, saying goodbye. René and Charlie!

Hi Toshi! Trust you and your Mother are well. I
had the following message from Shana, at Upper Bench. You probably
remember chatting with her when we tasted at Upper Bench:
Hello!
Hope you are both doing well. I'm reaching out to inquire about
potentially introducing our daughter Chloe to your friend (room mate)
from Japan, we met her during your recent visit
to the tasting room.
If at all possible, it would be great for Chloe to have a contact in Tokyo. Our Chloe will be traveling to Tokyo May 22 until 29th after visiting Singapore and Vietnam with friends. The airport she'll be flying into is called Narita, the Tokyo part of her trip she will be on her own. I know it is a long shot, but I thought, why not, if it works out great, if not, no harm done. Thank you. Shana Miller

Funnily
enough we thought of her the other night as we enjoyed their You and Me Brie
when I hosted bridge. I told her that I felt you would be absolutely
delighted to be in contact with Chloe! I trust
this is still the case.
On the home front, we are both very well. As I think you know, I underwent right shoulder replacement surgery on March 12th and couldn't be more pleased with result. I'm to see my specialist on April 25th, [six weeks, post-op], and hope to begin rehab physio if he feels shoulder is ready by then. I have had my arm in a sling since surgery except when doing tri-daily gentle hand/arm exercises or showering. Not a shred of pain or discomfort, [Only Upper Bench wine to dispel soreness!], so I feel incredibly fortunate that this has been the case. Assume this might change, somewhat, when more vigorous stretching of the joint, muscles and tendons begins. Lady Dar has become difficult Nurse Ratched and is looking forward to me slinging my sling away more than I am!
We have visitors from England/France arrived on Tuesday, for a couple of nights and then they will join us at Spirit Ridge, in Osoyoos, for the Easter weekend, along with Clan Sutherland so it should be fun. Anyway, let me know what you think about about being in touch with Chloe and I'll proceed accordingly. Fondestos from Lady Darjeeling to you and your Mother. Cheers, Patrizzio!
If this is so I'd like to forward your phone number
and email address. Is Messenger the best way to be in touch? I've asked
Shana to pass along Chloe's email address to me so that I can send it
to you so that you can communicate directly after that and make your own
arrangements. Thanks, of course.
