Olga Polga's New Roof Two Table Blues: Monday, April 8th!

Good fiction creates empathy. A novel takes you somewhere and asks you to look through the eyes of another person, to live another life. -Barbara Kingsolver, novelist, essayist, and poet (b. 8 Apr 1955)

We had an appointment, this afternoon, with a salesman at the Hyundai dealership to go over all the electronic features, Bluetooth, etc., of the Kona. Almost needed an Air Canada pilot to help us out with what I consider is more like a 747 cockpit than a car dash! Two tables of bridge this evening, in Summerland, so no rest for the wicked! Disappointed not to be able to hike and to be missing all the wonderful wildflowers but certainly cannot complain, given how lucky I am with my shoulder.

Good morning ! Thanks for your newsy email...I skimmed it over and will delve a little deeper into it when I get the chance. I just wanted to fill you in on my mom and her condition. I attended her Oncologist appointment last week and we are still in the stages of waiting to find out more about the type of cancer as well as where it originated from. Mom is feeling okay at this point, the only real issue is a shortness of breath due to the fluid that has accumulated in her lung. On Friday they will put in a shunt so that the fluid can be drained at home rather than having to go into E.R. for the procedure.

We are very hopeful that some treatment options may slow down the cancer and help to improve her quality of life as things progress. We are all still reeling in shock that this is happening, especially to someone who has never smoked.
Mom is adamant that her condition be kept within the family and closest friends and I just wanted to reiterate to please keep the news in closest confidence for now. I wasn't even supposed to tell anyone but as I had been talking to Corinne during the time that it was all coming to light I wanted to keep you both in the loop. The news is bound to get out eventually but for now please keep it between us.

We miss you guys and would love to have you come up to the valley before Corinne gets super busy with weddings etc...Please have a look at your calendar for Mid May to end of June and let us know if there is a weekend you can keep open or if you are planning a visit to the coast we could try to tie it in to that as well. Al and I are going to NYC the first week of May and super excited as it will be our first time. School has just wrapped up and I am just trying to get caught up on all the stuff that I have pushed aside the last few months. I am working a lot until the end of June but trying to keep my summer open especially as I want to be there for my parents if they need me. I've gotta run...so glad your shoulder has healed so well ..you can't keep a good man down!!!! Lotsa Love Colleen

Hi again, Colleen and Al! Thank you for the latest update on Sue's treatment. It goes without saying that we will not mention anything to anybody but feel absolutely devastated for her and entire family. Cannot even begin to think what you are going through. On a happier note, your trip to New York sounds magical indeed. Lady Dar is green with envy as although she was there in 2015 she dearly wishes to return! We'll certainly be in touch about a visit, here or in Happy Valley(!), when schedules concretize.

Friends, Rosemary and Andre, (England/France), will be here over Easter, as well as Flamin'/Sarge, both here in Penticton and down at Spirit Ridge. See my specialist on April 25th so am hoping I will be cleared to start physio by then. With any luck I'll even be able to start driving again. Love to Sue and Gerry. Fondestos from Lady Darjeeling to you two. Take care of each other. Bestestos and Cheers, Patrizzio! Very sad news indeed.  Will keep Sue in my thoughts. Ayn This is so upsetting, poor Sue. Definitely thinking of them All. ❤️❤️

Hello Squamish Fresh Grandparents! Wonderful to hear that we have finally connected. However, not sure if you two will be able to stay awake past 8:00 pm, to play bridge, given you're over-the-hill grandparents now! Should we bring Poligrip or do you prefer Fixodent? Latter is hashish flavoured!  Fond, Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Take care of each other. Stay well. Bestestos and Cheers, Il Conduttore/Patrizzio!

Hi Al! Thanks gain for terrific snaps. Almost as good as being along. Cheers, Patrizzio!
