Farmers' Market Hallmark Summer in the Vineyard Blues: Saturday, June 10th!

As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls. -Matt Cartmill, anthropology professor and author (1943- )

Hi Mark! Just back from enjoying the Farmers' Market, held each Saturday, from May to October, here on Penticton's Main Street, closed for about five or six blocks, filled with stalls of all sorts. We usually do much of our fruit and vegetable buying here, although there is still not a huge variety available yet.

To the matter of the supplements you have requested. While strolling through the market, we took the opportunity to pop into a vitamin store to see what might be available and it turns out that both require prescriptions! Not sure where you received your information but am wondering if these are over-the-counter in the US, at least not here in BC. The clerks we asked both suggested investigating on-line purchases from the former, although I assume you may well have already done this. Will take a look at a number of other stores in town but I doubt whether these supplements will be available, given what we have already discovered. Anyway, let me know what you think and/or can find out and I'll see what more I can find out, in the meantime

With respect to the Clare, yes, I have ridden the Riesling Trail, with Flamin' and Sarge, in 2012, before we stayed with your parents in 2012. After that we did much the same with the Shiraz Trail in McLaren Vale. Both fabulous, indeed. You need to visit Penticton in our summer and then you can ride the Kettle Valley Railroad, now a walking/cycling trail much like those in the aforementioned valleys. However, since the KVR rises up into the surrounding hills, the views of Okanagan Lake and benches with vineyard plantings are stunning, not to mention the wine! Again, sorry to report unsuccessful findings. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: View from KVR, just before and after the so-called "Little Tunnel", hewn/blasted through the hillside when rail-bed was first laid, looking south towards Penticton itself. Second shows Naramata Village on the spit and beyond, Penticton, on strip of land between Okanagan Lake and Skaha, to the south. Some of the vendors and buskers at FM.

Monday good but if Jos can't host we're good for you to come here at 6.30. Gill and Phil Hello y'al As you know we picked up our Australian friend yesterday, and today we showed him the best of our trail system, with a ride to the tunnel, and some drink on our way back home.Just got home and picked up messages.

Hello all, After I said Monday evening Bridge worked fine for me I had a couple of hours of training tacked on to the end of my day this Monday (5-7). It is likely that I will not make it to Jos' house until 7:30. If you need a fourth or an eighth I will plan to come. Pls let me know. Also, my Tuesday night is now free. My Tuesday golf partner was just diagnosed with an injury that prevents her from playing golf for the foreseeable future. Have a great weekend👍 Pam

Dear Dedicated Followers of Standard Stayman*! Naramata Goil has a training shift on Monday but has agreed to join gathering once she knows everything there is to know about hard liquor! She won't arrive until 7:30 pm so be prepared to move tables, Dummy, whoever you might be, until she walks through the door! This being the case, we will only need one vehicle in order to car-pool to Upper Summerland. I am happy to drive the MarriageMobile so Judy Blue and Spiller Road Spade Folk please plan to be at Burns Street by 6:10 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio!

*Stayman: Bridge for Dummies, Tip #2:
A bidding convention used by a partnership to find a 4-4 or 5-3 trump fit in a major suit after making a one notrump (1NT) opening bid. A game contract bid and made in a major suit (i.e. 4 or 4 ) scores better than a game contract bid and made in a minor suit (i.e. 5 or 5 ) or in notrump (i.e. 3NT). Also, the success rate for a game contract in a major suit when a partnership has a combined holding of 26 points and eight cards in the major is about 80%, whereas a game contract in 3NT with 26 high card points (HCP) has a success rate of only 60%, or 50% with 25 HCP; the success rate for a minor suit game contract when holding 26 points is about 30%. Hi Training Goil! As you will have read, from an earlier message, we'd like you to join us so that we can have two tables. Learn Mixology well. See you on Monday. Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Patrick, I'll get myself to Jos' house as quickly as I can tomorrow night. I think I remember how to get there. I'll look for the marriage mobile😊😀 Pa Ok see u then Judy

Hi Kids! We enjoyed the Farmers' Market, this morning. Interestingly enough, a film crew was shooting and we soon discovered that it was a Hallmark production, Summer in the Vineyard! [Summer in the Winery according to Lady Dar! In case some of you don't know, Ayn is VP in charge of Acquisitions and Programming for this company's Family cable channel!] Ayn, do you know any of the people involved? Hosted a great pot-luck for our book club the night before. Must away as Lady Dar wants to watch another episode of Orange is the New Black! Fondestos to one and all from The Marriage Officiant. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Pot-luck; Farmers' Market: Hallmark; my friend Jake; Balsamic Bliss Woman, buskers and Poppy Seed Cake!
