Pražský Hrad and Annie's Birthday Blues: Sunday, September 22nd!

If you must play, decide on three things at the start: the rules of the game, the stakes, and the quitting time. -Chinese Proverb

Up at 6:30 am as had slept rather soundly all night. The pub revelers were not nearly as raucous as the night before so much quieter on the street outside. Will have to rouse Lady Dar in a few minutes as we need to hoof it to the Old Town Square to catch the first departure of the Blue Bus  at 9:35 am. This will take us over the Vlatava on the Svatopluk Čech Bridge or Čech Bridge to transfer to the Red Bus which will take us to Pražský hrad/Prague Castle, a complex built in the 9th century. It is the official office of the President of the Czech Republic. The castle was a seat of power for kings of Bohemia, Holy Roman emperors, and presidents of Czechoslovakia. According to the Guinness Book of Records, Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world, occupying an area of almost 70,000 square metres (750,000 square feet), at about 570 metres (1,870 feet) in length and an average of about 130 metres (430 feet) wide. The castle is among the most visited tourist attractions in Prague attracting over 1.8 million visitors annually, so plenty to see and more than plenty of tourists to dodge, Dear Reader!

After that we will continue on the Red Line to stop off at the Main Train Station to buy our bus tickets for trip to Český Krumlov, on Monday.

Hiya Needed to have a map with me to follow along on your adventures and reunions. When was it that you were visiting that area before? It must have been really enjoyable having friends accompany you this time. Our travels with Kian have not the romantic vistas you experience but are enjoyable none-the-less. With Chloe expecting I will be hearing some of the same from you in the not too distant future.

After the while entourage visiting Harrison Orchard in Vernon yesterday and stocking up with fall fare, this evening we are celebrating the change of seasons with a turkey dinner minus the carbs of course I am looking forward to dessert, a keto pumpkin pie no-bake cheesecake.

Congratulations to Chloe. Dana, being 40 at the time, had to go through all the same kind of tests I expect Chloe did. It was such a relief when it was all over. Glad to hear she is living close to you two. What a great summer! Once upon a time I judged the season by summer romance but now I am satisfied with no pollution. I still find it remarkable that one can communicate half way across the world with such ease. Have fun Hi Brenda Louise! Trust all goes well with you both. I was visiting friends in France and Switzerland last May and then biking in the Czech Republic for two weeks after that. Was back in 2007 that I was first in Croatia with Chloë. [We have been by ourselves since we left Croatia.] Yes, it is quite something that she is pregnant. Will be quite a change in everyone's lives!
Fondest from Lady Dar to you and Wally, Kian and Picasso. Stay well and keep an eagle eye on the carbohydrates! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Fartograms, Tomorrow we will venture up Wild Horse Mountain in Summerland, a mild Monday outing, dependent on how far we want to go. If we have energy left we could hike from Wild Horse to(wards) Rattlesnake. As usual, we will gather at 9:00AM at the IGA parking lot in Summerland. Pentictonites will need to get together at 8:40AM in Penticton opposite from the Cherry Lane Mall at the NE corner of the crossing of Warren and Atkinson (see attachment for your convenience). Afterwards we will relax, debrief, ponder on next week's hike while enjoying a refreshment of our choosing in a location TBD! See you tomorrow, Aart the Mountain Bard

Hi everyone, Phil Robson has stepped forward and volunteered to lead our hike this Thursday. Here is what he has to say………Hi, It's forecast to be pretty wet next Thursday so I thought I'd stay close to Penticton and have options for short or long hikes available, so how about the following...We'll hike in the 3 Blind Mice area. I'll meet the hikers at the car park along Naramata Road where the KVR crosses the road (at Poplar Grove Rd - map attached) at 9am. So Penticton folk should car pool at Cherry Lane Mall north parking lot, leaving car park by 8:45am (Summerlanders leave IGA by 8:10 and drive straight to the Poplar Grove car park). We'll drive up Riddle Rd a bit, disembark, repark and then hike the mice. Hopefully, finally, returning to a watering hole of choice. Anything I missed? Phil
