Dangereuse and Wild Bill Breakfast Blues: Monday, July 16th!

A word after a word after a word is power~Margaret Atwood

You’ve got me hooked on Radio 4 ,you bastard. Stay well and listen to your doctor, from Katarina. hope folk festival wasn’t too hot. Actually cooler than Penticton. Take care. Hi Radio Four Junkie! Sorry to hear about your addiction! Never listen to someone who never listens to his doctor! [Have you been in touch with Katarina?] Had a grand time at Folk Fest. Managed to stay in the shade for almost all the smaller stages. As always, some incredible voices I had never heard of before, as well as wonderful performances by many I already knew, if not all that well. I apologize for not sending along a message sooner but it has been pretty hectic ever since we left Vancouver on Monday morning.

Had a brief visit with Denise and Bill Gross before we left. After about 40 minutes Bill had to leave for an appointment with his doctor, (He's been suffering from a pretty bad back for months now, although he can ride a bike!) We bumped into him on our way back to Elaine's, just around the corner, and his way back from appointment.] All went well driving to Abbotsford where we stopped at Costco for gas and supplies for coming stay at Spirit Ridge. Thought we were home free but a traffic accident in Chilliwack delayed us by an hour, inching forward, bumper to bumper! A large semi with a modular structure of some kind, too high to go underneath one of the overpasses had smashed into bridge, spewing material all over highway. When we finally reached accident scene there was a front-end loader scoping up the mess
After that Coquihalla went well and we were home by 4:00 pm, just a few minutes before Colleen and Al arrived. They helped us unload and then we went for a swim, as it was baking, at Lady Dar's favourite beach, just past the Penticton Art Gallery. Water was fabulous and after we had cooled off we enjoyed a cold beer on deck chairs we had brought along. Back home for supper and planning for coming next few days as we enjoyed steaks, Lady Dar had done to perfection, as it was Colleen's birthday. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
PS: If you go from Radio 4 backwards, a week or so at a time, to Radio 1 you might be able to wean yourself! Do hope we will be able to see Catherine but not sure where that is, as of this writing. For now, take care of yourself, Glasgow.  Fondestos from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Birthday Goil after we went to Lady Dar's favourite beach, at the bottom of Ellis, not far from PAG for a glorious cooling off swim. Water was most refreshing as day was hot and quite muggy by the time we made it to the lake. We had taken down deck chairs so we were most comfortably sat on the sand as we enjoyed a cold beer, amicably chatting and joking with couple beside us. Home for showers adn a change of clothes before we repaired to the back patio and proceeded to toast both Colleen's birthday and to the time we were going to spend together over the next few days. Wonderful evening so we stayed out until long day and wine-tasting took its toll and we all repaired to our beds, sweet dreams of wine and great good friends vying in our sleepy minds.

Hi Old Farts, With this hot weather, I’m all for going to the higher elevations. So, I am proposing that, on July 19th, we scale the heights of Dividend Mountain. We might also do a bit of exploring along the Cougar Trail as well. We will:

-meet at Home Hardware north parking lot at 0800 (0740 at IGA in Summerland)

-carpool and make our way to the trailhead. Hopefully we will be able to drive from Apex village down the Keremeos Creek forestry road for 2 or 3 km.

-hike up Dividend and spend a bit of time on each of the summits. -return via the Cougar Trail -return to Penticton and find a suitable place for debriefing and refreshment. Care to join us? Give me the usual nod. Cheers, Jim
….by the way, on July 26th, I will have a granddaughter visiting, and I promised her I would take her up onto Apex to see the flowers. I know that a group of you were there just a couple of weeks ago. So, if anyone wishes to lead an alternate hike on the 26th, please let me know. Otherwise, the hike will likely be up Beaconsfield and Apex. Alan Waldron A holiday with great friends, filled fun and bonus...No vehicle issues! driving a 1964 Sunbeam Alpine, Yay!
