Five Floors Worth of The Museo del Jade "Marco Fidel Tristán Castro" Blues: Wednesday, January 10th!

The most certain test by which we can judge whether a country is really free is the amount of security enjoyed by minorities. -Lord Acton (John Emerich Edward Dalberg-Acton), historian (10 Jan 1834-1902)

Hello again, Famiglia!
The internet connection is not as good in our room so I was downstairs eating breakfast, [ Scrambled eggs, (Staple fare which reminded me of hard boiled eggs in Turkey with Elaine and Ted!), with rice/beans, smothered in sauce piquant! Delsih! Followed by numerous slices of fresh papaya and pineapple.] Had to wait for coffee as dining room was packed with a large tour group. Hello Cyclistii et al! Have been meaning to send along a message ever since we encountered a bike path! Cheers, Patrizzio!

This morning we will visit the Museo del Jade, last of the three museos we wished to see. Then Lady Dar hopes to try to find and explore a barrio which, according her guidebook, contains many historical mansions. Have to be ready to leave hotel by 7:00 am Thursday morning so will need to be an early night for us, packing, etc., after dinner at a place yet to be decided upon. Must away as I need to put on some sunscreen although it has never been blazingly hot and temperature has been ideal for sightseeing. Lady Dar sends her fondest to one and all, Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrizzio, Just letting you know that I'm back home and am happily awaiting to join my great Bridge friends. Hope all is well with you lovely folks and to see you both soon. Hugs, Olly Hi Olga Polga! Great that you are back home. We are certainly looking forward to seeing you at next bridge game. Hop the next flight to San Jose, Costa Rica, and we'll pick you up at the airport! Have been here since this past Sunday, not to return to LA until February 4th! Anyway, have really been enjoying the warmth and sunshine. Just a quick note to let you know some of what we have been up to since being here. Lady Dar sends her fondest you, Olga, and Craigola. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrizzio, Sorry to have missed you as I a flew home Monday. I have to say the pics are fantastico!!! Good job, Patrizzio! I really enjoyed them and your email reminds Craig and I of some of our experiences during our 3 week trip in Costa Rica. It sounds like the two of you are having a grand old time. Great... enjoy.... it's such a great country to travel. Meanwhile we will all miss you both. I'll email the rest of our Bridge friends and perhaps we can have a few games until your return. Until then have a great trip, hugs to both, Olly Buenos dias Patrick y Corinne, Carol Julien and I will arrive in Alajuela on Saturday at 4pm then head to Jaco for two nights. We will then drive from Jaco to the San Jose airport on Monday morning to pick up Thierry, who will arrive from Quebec City at 12:05pm. We will be travelling in a rental vehicle and the drive from Jaco to San Jose is 110 km (estimated to take 1:50). Will you still be in San Jose on Monday? If so we could possibly meet you somewhere in San Jose or on the outskirt toward the airport, before or after picking up Thierry.

On Monday afternoon we will drive to Monteverde (2.5 hours of driving from airport) to spend one night in the cloud forest then on Tuesday morning we will drive to Tamarindo where we will stay until Saturday. We may do a couple of short trips from Tamarindo to see the other beaches in that area. We will be back in Alajuela on Saturday night.
Unfortunately we are not going to connect.
Have enjoyed SAN Jose off to Caribbean coast tomorrow See you on the island
Hugs Corinne

Buenos dias Chooch and Brunello! Too, too bad we won't connect but so much to see and do that each group will be too busy to miss the other! Back from The Museo del Jade "Marco Fidel Tristán Castro", founded in 1977 by Fidel Tristán Castro, the first president of the INS, the state insurer, the Instituto Nacional de Seguros. Remarkable, remarkable pre-columbian collections continue to amaze and astound and there is also a fascinating contemporary exhibit, by Herberth Bolaños, Message from the Past which links "the contribution that quipus have made to the evolution of several Latin American indigenous peoples. In his inquiry, he found a fundamental, yet unknown, element of the history of the Costa Rican indigenous population: the Talamanca quipu, a ‘book’ made of cords and knots that makes reference to the 1873 census of the Talamanca people, and which currently resides at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C." All in all, more than well worth the visit. If you will be here for a couple of days, I suggest you buy the three museum pass but make sure each will be open over the course of your stay. There are plenty of terrific restaurants so just follow your noses and your tummies!

After leaving the Jade Museo we walked back to our hotel and then went downstairs to the dining room to have a another wonderful bowl of Sopa Azteca,(basically a chicken broth base with pieces of chicken and tortilla chips topped with cheese, avocado and crema), Lady Dar sipping Chaaaaaarrrdddooonnnnay, and lemonade for me. Sopa was one of best we've had, to date, presentation exceptional, taste extremely delicious. Must away as Lady Dar has already gone up to the room and I need to do the same, to start packing so that we can enjoy the last evening here and are ready to leave by 7:00 am tomorrow morning. Travel safely and enjoy yourselves. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Jade Museo and Sopa Azteca! Thanks for the tips, sounds very exciting

Sounds like s great vacation!! Just a quick note as it’s been a busy day and just lunch time. Duke came home collarless Monday so Tuesday he went naked and I went and bought three new reflective collars and tags yesterday all for him as Etta is perfect and a true lady!!! Got it on him last night and locked them in as that orange stray and the other black cat were fighting in the alley and I was worried the orange one might try to come again Duke was upset yo be trapped but slept soundly and let them both out at 4:30 to roam. I’m going to need a vacation from the demands of these two. Off to earn my small paycheck!!!
Love you both❤️😘❤️
Hi Chloë! Sorry to hear that ll Diablo is giving you such a hard time! He is the first thing I thought of, last night at dinner, when we were served our amuse-bouche! Little devil indeed. However, on the bright side, if you study hard enough and work hard enough you'll be able to take a long vacation from your kittens. Speaking of which, how are the sidewalks? You make no mention at all! No need for snow shovels here! Must away as Nana has already gone up to the room and I need to do the same. Love and Cheers, Dad/Patrizzio! Duke getting some lap time love
