Nowy Targ to Dunajec Castle & the Thunderstorm Blues: Saturday, June 2nd!

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. -William Arthur Ward, college administrator, writer (1921-1994)

A friend, Gary, is doing a cycling trip from South Dakota to Alaska. Thought you’d enjoy his blog:  https://www.relatingtoancients.com/pierre-to-the-pole-1/ Hope your trip has gone well.  Love, Agneta

Dear friends and neighbours, We would like to invite you to the first of, hopefully many, yearly concerts to celebrate friends and family, the land we live on and summer splendour. Our friends David Romtvedt and daughter Caitlin Belem Romtvedt, will be performing an outdoor concert at Ukiyo, (473 Roberts Road), on Wednesday, June 27th at 7 PM. We would love you to join us. David and Caitlin are very talented musicians and vocalists playing numerous World Music genres including Cajun, Quebecois, Brazilian, Basque, Latin and others. They will be playing and teaching at Fiddle Tunes Music Festival in Port Townsend following their visit to see us on Galiano.

Please find attached an audio sample of David and Caitlin playing a composition of David's with their group, The Fireants. You may also want to check out this video link to a performance of David and Caitlin playing Basque music: https://www.facebook.com/westernfolklife/videos/10156067429945609/

We are asking for donations for the musicians please. Please BYOB, snacks and a chair – otherwise you will be sitting on the lawn. If you must come by car, please park on Roberts Road – allowing enough room for other traffic to pass. Please RSVP to help us with planning.
Looking forward to seeing you, George and Jane Hi Jane and George, unfortunately we will not be able to come. I'm in Manitoba looking after my mom. My brother who normally helps her is looking after his grandchildren as his daughter has been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Patrick as you know is in Poland biking, he is back July 10th. Hope this is the start of many concerts and we will be able to attend others.
Missing your company, Hugs Corinne

Hello Pat & Corinne, I hope you have been having a wonderful spring.  Things have been busy at the vineyard & the winery.  The vines are looking fabulous and we are excited for the vintage.

Just a quick note to let you know that your June 2018 Wine Club package is ready for pickup at the winery the next time you're up our way.  When you were visiting the Tasting Room last time, Pat mentioned that he might be away - we can store your package as long as needed. Included with your collection this time are 3 New Vintages.

x1 Pinot Gris 2017 (currently wine club exclusive - only available to buy from the winery by wine club Members).
x1 Sauvignon Blanc 2017 (NEW WINE)  Michael had the opportunity to buys some Sauvignon Blanc from our neighbours this year and made this small lot of only 132 cases
x1 Cabernet Franc 2016 (New Vintage - sneak preview for wine club members) (this will release to the tasting room at the beginning of July)

I've attached Michael's tasting notes for each of the wines.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about them. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Best regards, Jodi Bartier Bartier Bros. Vineyard & Winery

Hello Brat Pack! What a fabulous evening! Thanks Trina! Cheers, Patrizzio! Your video will be live at: https://youtu.be/3p9jr5wWJP8

Folk Musicians in Kroscienko nad Dunajcem! That was fabulous Patrick! Would so like to have been there for that! No one dancing?? Judy Hi again, Kids! Fab musician on far left can whistle like you have never heard! Cheers, Patrizzio! Your video will be live at:

I had four, scrumptious potatoe-pancakes which Sharktooth Annie, (my Mom!), would most certainly have approved of, served with rich, rich sour cream and two types of Cole-slaw, white and red cabbage, (However, Merrily whined so much about not being able to eat her side-order of sauerkraut, [It had a microscopic amount of bacon in it and as she is an ovo-lacto-glucos-gluten-intolerant-tree-hugging-natural-fibre-weaving-ice-cream-junkie she couldn't eat it!], that I exchanged my delicious salad for her tainted dish, along with a goodly helping of my tasty pickles, which were not on offer, but she forked them on to her plate anyway as I wept, pitifully, in front of all the shocked restauracja patrons, knowing how good they were.

Such is life on the road with Freeloaders who have honed the art to a far higher level that I have ever dreamed about, Dear Reader!), a huge glass of Polish IPA, from Cieszyn Brewery, (but I cannot be sure), and two drams of Żubrówka, all for a paltry 24, ($8.41!), and no cover charge for almost two hours of foot-stopping, Werewolves of Krościenko nad Dunajcem howling! I left about half an hour after they did as I wanted to see the fabulous local band, [Four singing fiddles and a thrumming bass. Glasgow danced with the very attractive young woman, (her voice was incredibly powerful and thrilling), and certainly did the Canadian Contingent proud with his dexterous moves and gallant flourishes, bringing many laughing smiles and alluring flashes of merriment to his twirling partner's eyes! Bravo Mathew!], finish their last set and I was back at the hotel, showered, (wanted to wash my "dress shirt" anyway), brushed and flossed, by the time Glasgow stumbled into the room!

I knew he was fated when he left the restauracja as Pat turned herself around when we were on a day trip to Nowa Huta, the easternmost district of Kraków, and, after we waited for her at the rendezvous point for over an hour, we assumed she had been sold into the White Slave Trade and left to return to the Ibis. A number of international phone calls later and she was eventually rescued, although the other two Sunshine Goils had already sold off her possessions by the time she returned to the hotel room, using the proceeds to have a very, very expensive meal on the Square and then take an extended horse-drawn carriage tour around Kraków, ironically enough, terminating in Nowa Huta! Anyway, Glasgow's sense of direction isn't any better and Merrily's internal compass was not showing True North as a result of the shot of Żubrówka I bought for her to keep her from telling me what photos to take and how to film the video I was taking of the musicians. A Trio Looking for a Catastrophe and the latter won out!

Hi Monday OF's people! This Monday's adventure (June 4th) is an easy walkalong, an out n back, following the Ellis Creek trail. It should be less than 4 hours all things being normal! I've ordered sunny skies and it seems like that's a done deal.

Lazy Saturday 😻 So, meet up at Home Hardware at 9am for car pooling (note: not 8 cos forecast is for cooler weather), with Summerlanders doing the 8:40 IGA car pooling thing. I'll be going straight to the trailhead rather than the Home Hardware meetup and you may wish to do so also... it's the car park at the upper end of Carmi Road - where it turns into gravel by the cattle grid. Hope to see you at the trailhead car park, at about 9:15 am. Cheers. Phil

On the 27th chez nous, Senka
Both dates look fine to me. Did anyone hear Kate Harris, (our current read “Lands of Lost Borders”), interviewed this morning (Sunday) on CBC radio? I didn’t hear the entire interview but what I did hear was very interesting.
