The Punkva Caves and The Blansko Blues: Friday, May 25th!

Stop fixing your bodies and start fixing the world! -Eve Ensler, playwright and activist (b. 25 May 1953)

Listened to some terrific BBC documentaries so wasn't out of bed until my alarm went off at 6:45 am. Another fabulous breakfast!

Hello The Sisterhood! Trust everyone is a s well as can be expected. Had a simply wonderful time at the Punkva Caves today. Took a local train, about 30 minutes, to Blansko and then a bus, about 15 minutes, to underground cave site. Simply phenomenal limestone formations, topped off by a fairly lengthy boat ride through the winding channels carved into the rock, ducking our heads as we bumper-cared our way ahead!  After this truly fun-filled careening we took a short cable-car ride to the top of the ridge above cave formations to look down into a gargantuan sink-hole. Breath-taking seen from below but terrifyingly dizzying from above. Walk back down to where bus dropped us off, [Tiny Stanley Park Railroad-type of shuttle took us to entrance-way, initially.], took about an hour but it was glorious, through the forest, trees reaching to the sky, so magnificent were their trunks, competing with the sheer cliffs on either side of the trail/road that it seemed like we were in a fairy tale.

Back to hotel to start packing and have a shower and change as we were all having dinner together at a very nice restaurant, but a few minutes away.
Dinner at Galerie Vaňkovka, for me, was really delicious chicken breasts, on a bed of corn, mixed with a honey glaze and diced ham, with roasted kartofellage. Two glasses of Moravian Pinot Grigio, excellent, and total bill was $20! Gave Katarina a tea-towel, The Thunderbird, and two wristbands so that she will be able to tell, more easily, her left from right! [She had a tendency to confuse directions when telling us which way to turn at a given intersection!] Everyone chipped in earlier to give her a card and a tip. The Summerlanders also gave her some syrup and fruit jerky from Summerland Sweets.

We're off to Kraków at 11:00 am and although hotel is fairly close to station, I want to be there in plenty of time, given that I have to load my bike, etc. First order of business is to find out which platform train will be on and then which carriage will take bikes. Usually have to take my panniers off as platforms are quite a bit lower than rail cars, so this adds to loading/disembarking process, especially when changing trains with but a few minutes grace, and there are no lifts! Have been in touch with Glasgow and will probably see him Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Fondestos and much Love to everyone. Stay well. Cheers, Dad/Patrizzio!
