Christmas Eve at Oasis Blues: Monday, December 24th!

Where it is a duty to worship the sun, it is pretty sure to be a crime to examine the laws of heat. -John Morley, statesman and writer (24 Dec 1838-1923)

To all our dear, dear friends and far-flung family we send our love and wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year! Corinne and Patrick!

Hi Patrick, Greetings from Ireland and for the season. We hope you are all well and looking forward to Christmas. We have our son Noel home from Australia while his partner Desi will join us on St. Stephen's day after she has spent Christmas with her parents in Vienna. It also just so happens that our other three, John Henry, Helen and Alice are home too so for the first time since Christmas 1993 we have just all six of us together. We are looking forward to it very much.

[Hi Hanneke and Doug! Thanks for the lovely, lovely card and best wishes. I would have responded sooner but I felt I had to get my time under a minute before I replied! Healthy New Year to you both. Cheers, Lady Dar and Patrizzio!]

Our time in Canada will be a big memory for us in relation to 2018 and not least our visit to you and your lovely home in Penticton. We do hope that you make it to Ireland in 2019 to visit and to stay a few days with us in Dun Laoghaire and if not then , sometime shortly thereafter. We received a Christmas card from Paul who says that Joan is booked in for a hip operation which is good news but this obviously makes the timing of their visit to us next year uncertain.

We have had good news since our return with our youngest, Alice, getting engaged to a lovely young man from Co. Derry in the North of Ireland. She will be getting married in 2020  and we are really looking forward to that. My work keeps me busy but is only three days a week and remains fun so quite happy to continue. Best wishes for tomorrow and the New Year. Best regards, Henry (Hank) and Una

Hello Dearest Una and Hombre Hank! How lovely to hear from you and know all goes so well. Thank you for the warm wishes. Wonderful that all the family will be together again. Congratulations on Alice's engagement and coming wedding. You'll need to work full-time, Hank, to pay for expenses! Your visit is still fresh in our minds and we certainly enjoyed your stay. Be careful what you wish for as we might well be visiting you in Dun Laoghaire! Lady Dar is presently planning our European junket, along with close friend, Flamin', flying to Vienna at the very end of August. We will only be with her and Sarge for three weeks as we plan to stay overseas for two months. At this point we imagine that England and Ireland will be towards the end of the trip. Of course, will be in touch once we concretize our plans.

[Merry Christmas 2018 Maya

Happy New Year Maya, Wooden Frosty and Company! What a terrific card! . All the best. Stay well. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!] I had a brief, but most pleasant visit with Joan and Paul in October and at that time Joan was waiting to be assessed at Oasis. Pleased to hear that she is now booked for a replacement. Rehabilitation, all things going well, is typically three months so not sure how this fits with any planned travel. I had my first hip done in early May, 2010, and travelled to Europe towards the end of July for a little more than two months without a hitch.

Not sure if you knew that Lady Dar is flying off to Mexico on New Year's Eve. In fact, she may well be staying here! She had a call from her close friend, Agneta, who arranged her rental apartment, yesterday afternoon after she went over to the apartment to find it was a complete mess, bed linen stained and curtains torn, etc., and more, with broken or missing patio furniture. Apparently landlord had been renting place out on a short-term basis and tenants hadn't taken care of it. Agneta was to meet with landlord today so Lady Dar will know more about what he is prepared to do. Agneta had already found her another place, for a month only, in case apartment in question isn't habitable, but details still need to be worked out. Rather upsetting as Lady Dar has to try to dovetail any new accommodation with all the people she's already invited.

[Hello, Patrick and Corinne! Thanks for your lovely card! Hope you will have a wonderful holiday season. All the best for 2019! Deborah P.S. Hope you got the link to my own online card, sent a few days ago. Happy New Year, Jacqueline Daniels! What another terrific card! I do apologize for not replying sooner.
Happy New Year, Jacqueline Daniels! What another terrific card! Trust you are well. Any plans for a visit? We'd love to see you again. All the best. Stay well. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

News Flash! Corinne just received a note from Agneta and apparently apartment will be fitted out the way Lady Dar expected it would be. I guess the landlord furnished place differently for short-term occupants. At any rate, Lady Dar won't pay for second month until she has seen what place looks like. A friend had recommended the apartment to her as she had been very comfortable there the year before.

Must away as I have a few last minutes errands to run and then need to ready house for guests who will be coming for dinner this evening. Stay well, Una and Hank. Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year to one and all at Dun Laoghaire. Fondestos from Lady Dar and Chloë to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Likewise Patrick, all the best to you and your family now and for the new year! We are spending Christmas in Calgary with kids and grandkids this year. Such a joy! I trust all is well with you folks. It looks like I will not be back for homecoming snow shoe trek later this week but I'm sure it will be great! Enjoy the season! Cheers......Kilian  A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Patrick and Corinne. Much love Tina and Trevor xxx

Patrick & Familia, Wishing you a Merry Merry X-mas Day with mucho joy to go around! We are back from Los Osos, and hunkered down in Berkeley Town enjoying some rain and a so-so red blend, but nice enough! Sending Love from the beleaguered US of A! Nancy & David

Hello So-So Blenders and Beleaguered US Dems! Trust that you enjoyed a pleasant family gathering on Christmas Day in Los Osos. Friend from hiking group is down visiting her daughter in Santa Barbara and when she heads home it will be via Moro Bay and Santa Cruz. All these towns bring back fond, fond memories. At any rate, you should be swilling the finest champers as you regain the House next week and then impeachment proceedings can begin. Hip Hip Hooray! Fondestos from Lady Dar to you, Donna Florida, and Cactus, and we wish you both a Healthy New Year! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Corinne, hello Patrick, Just in time for Christmas ….. as timely as your lovely card, received and opened earlier today, thank you very much.

Here is wishing you all a Very Merry and Joyous Christmas from your North Vancouver clique: Yda, Arni and Bogart. We hope you will enjoy stellar and dear company (with everyone behaving [as best as humanly possible]), indulge in a sumptuous and yummy meal (without having to recover on the couch for hours afterwards), tremendously enjoy that favourite drink of yours (how does unsweetened cranberry juice sound) and be happy, relaxed and content all around (at least for a day or 2).

Bogart sends his warmest seasonal greetings as well. Our beloved pooch Bogart met Santa for the first time in his 12.5 years young life, and as is evident, was overcome with respect for this strange looking white bearded man. He was extremely uncertain what to make of this unusually and colourfully dressed Homo Sapiens. He eyed him nervously, decided this is most definitely waaaaay out of his comfort zone and could not get away from Santa soon enough. Not even doggy treats could sweeten the potentially life-changing Santa experience, so posing with Santa proved to be an arduous and nerve-wracking task. Fortunately for all of us, Bogart has a very forgiving and friendly nature, and no long term negative effect is anticipated. However, he is resolutely resolved to take it easy on any future Santa encounters 😊. May your days be happy and the 2019 future bright …..Love Yda, Arni, Bogart

Hello Little Evita and the Imperiales! Pleased as punch that Bogart finally met Santa and that you enjoyed the card! Thanks for the New Year's wishes as well.
Must away as it's time to open a bottle of wine!. Fondestos from Lady Dar to you, Yda, Arni and Bogart and we wish you both a Healthy New Year! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrick and Corine Merry Christmas to you both. This ecard is very appropriate for us because we just got back from a month on Maui, where we did lots of snorkeling and saw many of these fish. All good with us and preparing for the Christmas Day festivities with the family....20 for dinner tomorrow. Hope to see you both in the new year. Mick and Polly Hello Fancy Maui People! Pleased that you enjoyed the card and that it reminded you of the sun and surf and tropical fish whilst we had to drown our green-with-envy sorrows in rounds and rounds of wine-tasting! We certainly hope that we will see you in the New Year, it goes without saying. You need to come and stay for a week and play bridge and cycle KVR, perhaps even an easy hike or two. Fondestos from Lady Dar to you, Polly and Mick, and we wish you, and all your family, a Healthy New Year and will see you soon, I trust! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Corinne and Patrick, To our very good friends, have a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2019. You’ll be especially dangerous, Patrick, when you get your bionic shoulder! Corinne, we hope you’ll have a great time in Mexico. All the best, Peter and Lynne Our Christmas letter is attached. Peter Dear Corinne and Patrick--We wish you the same. With great fondness, Lynne and Peter.

Thank you so much for the cute card! I loved the wee dog! All the Best of the Season to both of you! Thanks for the greeting card - an interesting one.

Hello Favourite Naramatians! Thanks for the heartfelt wishes for 2019 and to the Guyabitos Bound Goil! Enjoyed your comprehensive Xmas newsletter but hope, beyond hope, that you choose Penticton over Victoria. Still, Que será, será! Fondestos from Lady Dar to you, Lynne and Jugos Dom Pedro, and we wish you a Healthy New Year and will see you soon, I trust! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Merry Christmas and have a happy holiday season. Roma & Leonard Thank you so much, Thumbs up, Patrick! 24 December' from Mexico Dear Corineeen & Pat
We,Vicky & I, spent December'17 to March '18 in Melaque Mexico, on the West Coast, 5 hours south of Puerto Vallarte; last year I was negligent in Xmas greetings. Returning to a wet Penticton, I scrambled to complete PENTICTON REMEMBERS vol. III-36 Veterans Stories from the South Okanagan -and launched the book in June and ... paid my debt by 1 September. The summer market May to Thanksgiving saw me socializing in the shade and book peddling. One day a month COLES offers local authors a table out side its store in the local mall; Sometimes I sell a book .

Vicky and I have done no group hiking for two years, although we do manage to tramp the neighbouring hills weekly as Canyon Cottage is on a ridge with west and north hills. Often we take the neighbours dogs. Vicky had two trips this year- to Mexico in May & a cruise to Alaska in September

In July I flew to Taiwan to see Adam, Daphne , Jonny (10) Aldie (6) and Ernie(4) in that industrious Country . They live in Yongkonag District in Tainan County. All my time I spent in the Tainan area with the exception of a family trip to Taipei. The cost of living is, I estimate, one third of Canada. Adam has a car, a scooter and a four story home; Snyder 's five are doing well. This year all the children are in school. The children are bright, and active. How their Canadian great-grandparents would have been impressed. J & A speak Chinese, Taiwanese & English. Ernie, English and Taiwanese. May, luck goodness and happiness be with them always! May your best hopes and dreams become reality! May Santa fill your stocking with health , happiness and joyful laughter.
Blessings, From Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico. DBJS & VICKY

Thank you so much, Thumbs up, Patrick! Kjell And Merry Christmas to both of you as well! I was beginning to suspect you were in tropical climes for Christmas! Hope to see you in the New Year while Kjell is here. He's arriving on the 27th and will be here for three months. Calm and quiet here today after a week of windstorms and nasty tides. Everything ok here although friends further down island got it even worse. I've been enjoying being inside and doing inside activities for a change. Hope you are both well, and see you in the new year!
Love Jane
Hello Beach House People!
Healthy New Year to you both. Pleased to learn that you were relatively unscathed with wind storms and high tides. Friend, Whirlygig, on Galiano, was without power until New Year's Eve!Are you planning to head up to the Okanagan while Kjell is here, for a visit? We'd love to see you both if you might be around after March 7th, when The Snowbird returns. If sooner, I'm here with plenty of beds. Let me know and I'll plan accordingly. All the best. Stay well. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

All the best to you and Corinne and family this holiday season, and for 2019 too. We are in the Peg this December. My mother is not well, and we are mingling with family and friends. There is always a lot to do here. No plans yet for another trip out west but we keep talking about it. For now, I am not making long-range plans as my mother’s condition is a bit precarious. We had an absolutely wonderful trip through Morocco and the Canary Islands last September – loved Morocco! (We travelled in a group there which made it easy to see and do a lot, and clearly is the safer way to go.) Maret Hi Maret and David! Healthy New Year to you both and family. Must apologize for taking so long to reply. Sorry to hear about your mother, Maret. We haven't been to Winnipeg for Christmas for aeons. Last, and only time in Morocco was in 1970! Never been to the Canaries and would love to do so. Have you moved? Don't recall the address in your signature. Any plans for a visit? We'd love to see you both. All the best. Stay well. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

Happy Christmas to you both, we always enjoy your cards through out the year. There is always a invite to visit England. Chis and Mandy  Healthy New Year, Mandy and Chris! Trust you are both well. Any plans for a visit? We'd love to see you again. For our part we are flying to Vienna at the end of August and will travel with close friends, Flamin' and Sarge, for three weeks, ending up in Dubrovnik. They return home, via Rome, from there, but we plan to make our way to Denmark, after that, and then to London, so perhaps if you will be around, probably early to mid-October, we might arrange a visit. Would be wonderful if such a reunion could happen. All the best. Stay well. Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Christmas Open House: Corinne with Olga Polga, now staying with her in Mexico, and other friends. Christmas Eve with Rebecca and Corey, close friends, son and daughter-in-law of couple we will be travelling with next Fall; breakfast, Christmas morning, watching the Queen's address.

Hi Jean, it was wonderful to revisit your dogs lives as you described their time and impact on your life. I've certainly found that our cats have enriched our lives. They provide laughter and love. And of course lots of photo ops. We are having our usual Christmas dinner tonight. Chloe and Patrick made borscht and perogies. So we will be having that with fish. Not sure how many will join us yet. Tomorrow is a PJ day at Chloe's. We will do dinner there and watch movies.
Wishing you, John, Benson and Tess a wonderful season! Love
Corinne
