Warm Breezes and the Early Evening Bridge Blues: Monday, April 13th!

How simple life becomes when things like mirrors are forgotten. -Daphne du Maurier, novelist (13 May 1907-1989)

Hello Monday Night Bridgers: Lady Dar and I will host this evening. My count suggests that both Summerlanders, (Josinta and Michaelo), will be playing, along with The Naramatian, Mama T, and Pentictonites, O Susannah and Lady Di, for seven, Dummy to move. If Ann of Green Gables is available, as well, terrific. Any Spiller Road Folk interested? Please confirm, if you have not done so already. Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio!
No bridge tonight? Jos Hi Patrick. Are we playing bridge tonight? Dianne

Hi Twin Falls Travelers! Lovely to hear your on-the-road experiences, Maggie May! Pleased you enjoyed card and puzzle! Thanks for the wine-tasting pitturas, even if I look like a Super-Grump! Absolutely delighted that you continued your freeloading ways into the US at the Kicking Horse Casino!

Lazy sleep-in until almost 8:00 am this morning. Answered a few messages while sipping my morning java and then attacked my first set of shouldares. After that I loaded up the Kona with recycling and headed to the depot. After I emptied the car dropped by London Drugs for a replacement gas cylinder for our SodaStream. Also inquired about a lens cap for Chloë's camera as I wanted one to protect it from dust, etc., while walking or hiking. However, model in question doesn't accept a cover so I'm faced with buying a model which does, [to replace one that was rendered useless when I fell in Auschwitz!], or else a camera case. Probably opt for latter, in terms of expense at this time, even though it is a "klunky" solution, not being as convenient, of course, and bulkier to carry around my neck.

Back home to have a bite of brunch. Fried up some of the young garlic, [almost like large green onions, but stronger, more pungent, of course], I picked up at the Saturday market, along with some overlefts and once I've sent this message I have "orders" to work on tidying up my office! No rest with Lady Dar around. Fondestos from her, to you both, cleaning up the back patio stairs and bbq area. Continue to enjoy the rest of your trip. Travel safely. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Jake Snyder, my friend from United College, Winnipeg, with a picture of Fred Penner, who was with us in university; Rita, the wife of Bill who produced the Cherry and Apricot schnapps, with her daughter and grandson, stroller, along with their friend her child; Leigh, owner of Balsami Bliss; KVR with Chloë on Sunday; Lady Dar with roses and bleeding hearts from our planter; Gifts galore!

Dear Puzzled Bidders! My sincere apologies for not sending out the message which would have confirmed yesterday's play! I composed said message but never posted it, as I had imagined! This came to light after 6:30 pm when O Susannah arrived but nobody else. I had seen Lady Di last Thursday and she indicated she was on so I had expected her to turn up. When she didn't I called her and she very graciously joined us a few minutes later and we enjoyed four rounds. O Susannah and I were winners after first three rounds, changing partners after four hands, but The Royals, Ladies Di and Darjeeling, trounced us in the bitterly contested Winners vs Losers Final, rubbing my nose in my earlier messaging mistake! Beware The Wrath of The Sisterhood!

At any rate, with the long weekend in the offing, The Burns Street Brigade cannot play until Wednesday so we'd like to play that evening, or perhaps on Thursday. If others prefer Monday or Tuesday, so be it. Please let me know your preferences and I'll try to arrange the time and place best suited for most. Again, my apologies for yesterday's confusion! Cheers, Patrizzio, The Forgetful but Never in Doubt! Pics: The Sisterhood! PS: Unsent Messagio: (See above!)

Apologies accepted☺ Aart and I will be off to Haida Gwaii next week, coming home June 2nd. Hope I still remember how to play and bid after this trip but all our best wishes to you Patrick and Corinne. Hope your rehab is going well Patrick and you will be strong again soon, to join our future outdoor pursuits again. Cheers from Jos and Aart. Wednesday May 22 is fine with me. Susan Hi All: Sorry, I cannot play on Wednesday or Thursday evenings. Monday and Tuesdays us good for me. Mama T Hi Patrick.  Wednesday only day I can play. Thanks. Dianne Hi Patrick: Sorry, I am unable to play on Wednesday nights. Judi Wednesday is good for me, so let me know the finał decision. Cheers. Mike
Hi Patrick , i should be home about the 25th of may and ready to play . I could know what i am doing so get ready. I have had about 50 hours of bridge lessons while on the ship ....and ... ready for the challenge! Carol
Hi all, Many thanks to Bill, who will be leading a hike on Thursday, May 16th.  Plans are to begin at Skaha Bluffs, hike south on the Rock Oven trail to Heritage Hills and then return via the pictographs.  It is (we think) about 15km.
You will: -meet at 0800 at Home Hardware north parking lot in Penticton (0840 at IGA parking lot in Summerland -carpool and drive to the Skaha Bluffs parking area. -hike to Heritage Hills and return via the pictographs. Finish with a debriefing and refreshment at a location to be decided.

If you are interested in this hike, please let Bill Therriault kno. Just a heads up……After this hike, I am planning to change the start time for future hikes to 0800.  It is getting hotter earlier in the days, and this will go a little way to make us more comfortable. Not this hike, but the one on May 23rd! Cheers, Jim
