Olga Polga and The Okanagan Bridge Wars Blues: Wednesday, February 1st!

The greatest part of a writer's time is spent in reading, in order to write; a man will turn over half a library to make one book. -Samuel Johnson, lexicographer (1709-1784)

Hi Patrick Whilst you were freezing in Sun PEAKS I was in the amazing 34C at Balgowan. Pictures of sunset, my friend and her sister in the kitchen of the converted tram, view of the tram from the extension. Warm regards Teens

Hello Silver Star Ski Buffs, et al! Trust all went well on your drive north, Kjell. I suppose you won't read this missive until you are back, across The Salish Sea, and ensconced at home. At any rate, just wanted to say how much we enjoyed your stay, Kjell, although Jane was missed terribly! Hope we'll see both when you are back, Marcello.

Spent a fairly lazy day after you left, trying to catch up on mountains of email before spending an hour outside, chopping kindling and then sweeping up a large tub of oak leaves, exposed when snow melted. Of course, the felines were supervising when not chasing the leaves blown hither and yon by the strong breeze. Lady Dar had a knitting session in the evening so I spent more time with Etta and Duke, both napping near the fire.

Will be off to the pool for a deep-water session this morning and then we are playing bridge this evening, in Summerland. Chloë and Pamela, Lady Dar's sister, in Vancouver, from Winnipeg, on business, will fly into town, late Thursday night, to stay for the weekend so we are looking forward to their visit. Next week is already shaping up as a very busy one with two dinners, with friends, one at a restaurant in Summerland with a jazz concert. Grogg and Lurchesca arrive on Saturday for two nights, back from Banff.

Again, thanks for the lovely wine and tangerines, Kjell! I'm about to have a couple in my yogurt this morning. Fondestos from Lady Dar, chiding me to lay a fire. I gather Kelowna was -17º C this morning, while it is only -2º C in balmy Penticton! Probably even chillier at Silver Star when you left, early, eyes wide shut! Travel safely. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Dom Marcello's stay! Herding sheep and sipping gin! KVR stroll. Friend, Pamela, from hiking group, thinks bird is a Peregrine Falcon, as one has been seen, over last few days, thereabouts! Arrivederci to The Man in Black!

Dear Patrick and Corinne,Thank you so much for a lovely time! I really enjoyed it.Today we went all the way from Silver Star to Courtenay. Left at 10 am, arrived home at 8 pm. Surprisingly easy.. Now, all focus on Cuba trip. Bestestos, and fondestos, Kjell Hi Cubanos Libres Trust everyone is well and trip is going well. All the best from Etta and Duke to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

[Jayne Mansfield Hello Bridge Babes! Thanks so much to Rolly Polly for hosting and the fabulous prizes! Congratulations to Josinta for having the top score! Bravo!

We are happy to host next week so let us know what you think and we'll plan accordingly. Fondestos from Lady Dar, already reading in bed as I scribe! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pics: Self-explanatory except for single of Josinta. Her bidding was so terribly quick that my fastest shutter speed couldn't capture her moving image!

Following question for Patrizzzzzio, and/or Lady Dar, With your library connections, can you yourself or ask one of your connections in a (law) library to do a search on development projects that were approved by municipalities, but gone wrong for whatever reason (faulty engineering, etc) afterwards and the municipality was made liable and was sued.

[Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller] Why important?: We would like to know about these cases, because this could happen to Summerland with the proposed Bristow Valley monstrosity. If we lose the hatchery or a landslide happens, the city could be liable and the taxpayer gets the bill. Aart

Hello Summerland Activists! I will forward your query to a number of friends but you should also investigate the suit which was brought against Naramata, a number of years ago, now, when a businessman successfully sued the district for a substantial amount, (in the millions, I believe.), over water, as I recall, for breach of contract, I think. Anyway, the council made some mistake and hence  was liable. I don't know the exact details but I think it would be worth your while as a very germane, local precedent since all the taxpayers/ratepayers had to foot the bill! 'Ain't Life Grand! Cheers, Patrizzio!

[The Three Stooges…in and out of character…]

hi Patrizzziiooo, Since you are very good with word, and you surely understand what we are looming for, please feel totally free to reword our question in your own way! Thanks for your help. Aarturo and Josinta Thank you dear friend, very much appreciate your help. Jos and Aart

Next Monday will be an easy hike. Otto will take us to the little tunnel on the KVR from Smethurst Rd parking area in Naramata. We will then go up to the rock ovens and come back. Al and maybe Jack will join us for part of it.So we will meet at Home Hardware in Penticton at 9 am and Summerlanders can carpool at 8:40am at the IGA parking lot. Pam
