Farewell Freeloader Blues: Sunday, August 12th!

It has always seemed strange to me that in our endless discussions about education so little stress is laid on the pleasure of becoming an educated person, the enormous interest it adds to life. To be able to be caught up into the world of thought -- that is to be educated. -Edith Hamilton, educator and writer (12 Aug 1867-1963)

This morning I was up around 7:30 am, before anyone else. Put on a pot of java and then fed the felines, circling hungrily while I brewed the coffee. Once Flamin' and Sarge were up they made arrangements with Rebecca and Corey as to how they would convoy to West Kelowna where Rebecca's sister was hosting a birthday party for Ashlynn. F/S had packed up by 9:30 am and were planning to stop at 8th Generation, (Summerland), open at 10:00 am, for some wine before continuing on to WK. They were driving home from there. Made our fond farewells and waved goodbye. Probably not see them next, until mid-September, when they will be back at Spirit Ridge.

Lady Dar was off to Oasis shortly after they left and I set about doing laundry and dishes from night before. Then I started on my "office" and moved all of the boxes filled with kitchen stuff into kitchen, ready for Lady Dar to put things where she deemed appropriate. Took us most of the day, what with cleaning/wiping/washing down most everything before placing items in drawers or on shelves. Even managed to take out two or three boxes from our bedroom so now we have more room to move about in there.

Back to my office to remove all the plates and serving dishes and glasses and such we had stored there, on shelving cabinet, once in living room, for easy access to our Summer Kitchen. Once these shelves were free I was then able to rearrange all the jumble of books, ornaments and office supplies that had been balanced, precariously, on the bins and boxes, moved earlier to the kitchen, waiting to be emptied. Place needed a thorough vacuuming and dusting and once this was accomplished the Murphy bed can actually be used, should need arise! Still have shelves to re-arrange and a number of bags to empty but at least I now have room to manoeuvre.

By 7:00 pm we were both pretty bushed so I had a quick shower while Lady Dar made a wonderful mixed green salad, topped with diced pork loin. Together with a fresh beet salad, made with horseradish mayonnaise, we enjoyed our late dinner watching an episode of Elementary and then one of Vera. Bed by 10:30 pm as it had been a long, busy, full, full weekend.
