The Farmers' Market and The Kit-Kat Blues: Saturday, June 1st!

If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do well matters very much. -Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, former first lady (1929-1994)

Up to the sound of gentle murmling at a little before 6:00 am so I let Duke into bathroom for a cool drink of water. Had enjoyed a very deep sleep so decided I'd stay up. Went into kitchen to ready my java and opened a new can of pumpkin. The Boy had two helpings and even licked the the top of the pumpkin I'd transferred into the glass jar we keep it in in the fridge. No sign of Miss Etta and it was not until I went into my office to take a look at day's forecast that I noticed the large black cat that we suspect Duke has been scrapping with, in the back patio. I clapped my hands and it took off.

A few minutes later I noticed it had returned and was on the chair under the gazebo. I went back outside and it scuttled under the fence to watch me, from the back lane, over the fence. Duke didn't follow but rather sniffed the chair where the cat had been. Miss Etta had been on her regular chair and she left it to come and rub up against me. I thought she would come inside for breakfast but declined to do so. I imagine I'll see them both shortly as I'm going to start watering the front in a few minutes. Spent an hour or so going through some of the stuff I had on the floor of my office, sorting out what to discard and consolidating various bits and pieces that I needed to spend more time on to see if they were candidates for the dustbin, or not!

By the time I had both my desk and the strewn possessions tidied up it was close to 10:20 am so I headed out to stroll down to the FM. Lovely day but knew it would be a corker soon so I kept to the shade when possible.

First person I saw was the Cat Man. Chloë and I had seen him last week. He has a new kitten which rides on a carrier on the back of his bike but today the relaxed kitten was sitting quite comfortably on his right shoulder. Chap really has a way with felines. Next, chatted with Jake, at his regular spot, in front of the Bookshop, for a few minutes before continuing on my way.

Didn't really want much, except a couple of bunches of radish so I scoped out various kiosks for best price. Made it to the bottom of Main and had a jaw with Dave, owner of Starvation Flats. I told him the zucchini plants we bought from him a month or so ago were doing very well, with large flowers already. He suggested I wait until the plants produced a tiny zucchini and then pinch them off and fry them up with a bit of flour and olive oil. Dave said plant would simply continue to produce more flowers.

Thanking him I made my way back towards Balsamic Bliss as Leigh had been busy when I first passed. Before I reached the kiosk I bumped into Rita. Bill was somewhere else, back in the shade, she said. Shortly after we said goodbye I was joking with Leigh and shortly thereafter Kevin Ritcey appeared. Introduced them to each other and we continued kidding for a bit. Waving goodbye to both I headed back to the booth where I felt the best buy, [two bunches for $5], was to be had, and picked out two different types before heading for home. Stopped, briefly, to mention to Jake that Dumplingdale Dave, [He and his wife, Gabriella, have a farm in Cawston.],  was going to drop by, on his break, to say hello.

Hello Dunbarites! Are you still coming to Osoyoos? Since I haven't heard since I last replied I thought I would say hello. As I mentioned, Lay Dar is in Vancouver, returning on Monday. I suggest, if you are still interested, that you drop by on Monday, before you head to Osoyoos and we'll have a bite to eat. Id Lady Dar is here when you are, great. If not, well busy schedules often make meeting up rather difficult.

Funnily enough, I just had a phone call from Janet Tompkins. She and her boyfriend, Jim, [We've never met.], are in town for a couple of nights so I've invited them for dinner tomorrow. Anyway, let me know what you think about my suggestion and I'll plan accordingly.

Back home, from Farmers' Market in plenty of time to make an avocado/onion sandwich and then listen to a re-broadcast of Under the Influence. I heard part of it on Thursday but like it so much wanted to hear entire episode. Once Terry was finished for this week did a few sets of shouldares and then went outside to spend an hour or so on working on rearranging lava rock, gravel and stones in front garden. Not completely finished but now it's more a matter of fine tuning. Inside to make a salad for dinner and then have a quick shower. Must away to watch Season 2 of Witnesses, (Les Témoins), a French police procedural set in Lille. Really enjoyed Season 1. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: FM: Cat Man; pop-up cards; Jake; radishes; Kevin and Leigh; favourite lettuce vendor; latest from Chloë, [in Tinsel Town for a week], of Olivia Rose! Should be going through sometime on Monday. Colin Hi Kids! When the cat's away, the mice will play! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Kraków: Hi Patrick, Hope this finds you well. It is a year to the day I met you in Poland. How do I know?we watched the European Cup final when Liverpool, thanks to their goalie, were beaten. Well this time they won to day. Goalie long gone. Time flies. Take care. Glasgow.

Hi Glasgow! Grand to hear from you! I remember watching the game, downstairs in hotel, I believe. Funnily enough, we bumped into Pizza Woman, Carol, a week or so ago, at a mini-street festival, Ellis on the Rise, last Friday. Tomasino is in Ottawa at the moment and she will fly to Montreal to meet him for the Jazz Festival later this summer.

I heard from Lady Dar that you finally have made contact with a specialiste, regarding your hip, so Hip Hip Hooray! I also gather you are selling Chinatown. Great to know that you are moving to the Okanagan as well!!! Finished Season Three of Shetland, a day or so ago. I really found the series fabulous. Regards to Catherine. Stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Solares and Tier Two Charger hook-up; Pizza anyone! Raised beds and extensione.
