Rein in the GranFondo A Type Blues: Sunday, July 14th!

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; In practice, there is. -Chuck Reid

Up at just after 5:00 am to let The Boy into the bathroom as Lady Dar was having a quick shower and he was desperately trying to open the door on his own!

Hi Pat and Corinne Denise & I really enjoyed our little stay with you both at your bountiful Burns St bungalow. We were very comfortable in every way- many thanks! Hope to see you at Deep Roots in a few days. We had fun day today on the KVR train. Yesterday we dropped into Time Winery and thought it was really good - both food and wine.

Hi KVR Travellers! Great snap! Looked like loads of fun. Must admit, we have never had the chance to ride. Must do so. Closest I have come is that our hiking group often meets close to the trestle to start a number of hikes in the area. Did you happen to treat yourselves to ice-cream at Summerland Sweets, just down the way from the station.

Anyway, we certainly enjoyed your visit and trust you'll stay a tad longer next time. Have been pretty busy ever since we waved goodbye on Saturday. spent a goodly part of that afternoon catching up on my shoulder exercises and doing various chores around the house. Fairly early night as we needed to be up just after 5:00 am as we were volunteering at the GranFondo, directing bike traffic at A Gate, starting at 6:00 am. Perfect weather for cycling so riders were pleased. Our stint went very well and it was fun chatting with many of the entrants about where they from and how many times they'd ridden in the event, etc. Start was at 7:00 am so it took about twenty minutes for 2,500 people to ride by.

Hi Carole! Great snapolas! Thanks! Have you volunteered at The Ironman? Think competition had changed shortly before we moved here. Cheers, Patrizzio! Yes Patrick for years starting when I lived in Osoyoos before my son got involved. I did do all the ones in between too; they were okay but nothing like Ironman. I will again next year....me

Shortly after last riders left we bumped into Ellen Cartwright and her son Marco. Did you know Ben Cartwright? I played doubles with him for years. Anyway he was riding in the 50 km event with Marco's girlfriend. Didn't see them in the crowd. We invited them back to have a visit once ride was over, although Ellen said it would be later in the day as they had a round of wine-tasting in mind beforehand. Back home I helped Lady Dar water the front garden and then started my shoulder exercises, collecting scrap lumber from across the back lane, in between sets. Managed to "scrounge" quite a pile. Neighbour, Corey, leaves it beside their garage as he and his brother know I will take it for kindling.

Kid Chelene will pick me up in his truck, after work on today, and we'll make a run to Spiller Road to pick up firewood from Phillipo, friend in hiking group. Over the last month or so he has been thinning out the trees around their place and is more than happy for me to take it as he wants to reduce the fuel load on their lot. Want to be able to interleave the kindling in the wood that we will stack near the back door to the garage.

Hi Dame Judith and BBQ King Kevin! Just a quick note to thank you both for the splendid evening. The appetizers and dinner were absolutely delicious, the hootch fantabulous and more than plentiful, while the companionship beyond compare! We do apologize for being a bit late but appreciate the fact that you were flexible enough to allow us a visit with Ellen and Ben. Thanks again for everything. Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Ellen and Ben; Life on the patio and more!
