Lady Dar Insists Patrizzio Sing the Garage De-Canting Blues: Tuesday, September 12th!

Whenever 'A' attempts by law to impose his moral standards upon 'B', 'A' is most likely a scoundrel. -H.L. Mencken, writer, editor, and critic (12 Sep 1880-1956)

Didn't hear the Wildling Alarm until 6:05 am so enjoyed my night's rest. Back to bed, after releasing the beasts back into the wild to wake an hour later to find both, sleeping quietly, close to each other, keeping Lady Dar's tootsies warm. Haven't seen them sleeping like this for a long time so it was a delightful sight. Had hoped to take a snap of such sibling accord but El Diablo hopped into the bathroom, right to the sink, as soon as I had stroked them and told them what lovely cats they were!

As I'd hiked on Monday I didn't want to go for a longish ride today, although, I'm pleased to say that my legs felt fine after the wonderful outing to Little Nkwala. This being the case, I opted for a basic "stretch" ride, donned my Gerbil Face at around 12:30 pm and made for PTC. The wind was almost negligible out of the North at but 3 kph so riding into it wasn't an issue. However, it was a tad coolish so I wore a T-shirt under my long-sleeved, sun-screen riding garment. Over the last few rides, when the city has been blanketed with wildfire smoke, I've refined the various Hamster Loops off Riverside, Power and Burnaby so after I made my way along Lakeshore I did three full circuits of those routes and then returned to the PTC to begin a similar process back up to the KVR on Pickering. On my first run there I noticed a handsome buck with but the beginnings of an antler rack ankle deep in Penticton Creek, enjoying a drink from the sparkling water. He eyed me while I eyed him but didn't really seem at all fussed by my presence, wary but not frightened like the fawns, with their rather unconcerned moms, that I often encounter further up the KVR, towards Vancouver Ave. First time I'd seen a deer in the creek and it was a wonderful sight, I must say.

Didn't take long and almost before I knew it, my endless dipsy-doodle repetitions had chalked up the distance I wanted for the day and I made for home, even managing to keep my AVG above 20 kph without having to push too, too hard on the numerous uphill grades. A decent enough outing under post-hike conditions and certainly a most enjoyable ride, given the lovely, lovely day that it was. Map and Stats for ride:

Doing Dishes! Hello The Sisterhood! This is why Ms Tinsel Town and I are so creative! Love and Cheers, Dish Detergent Man! "So if you're looking to do something creative, it may be a good idea to find something boring to accomplish first. Not only will you get a chore out of the way -- those dishes aren't going to wash themselves! -- but you may also unlock some added brilliance." I could not agree more!! I solve a lot of creative problems while doing boring chores.  I saved the company over one million bucks last week after vacuuming! Clarity comes with a clean floor...and the funny thing is, I'm serious! Research backs you up! Onward! Vacuum!! Wash!!!

Hello Fartograms, Attached please find the large size card I made for Laxmi and Si for which quit a few of you sent in your best wishes. Thank you for your contributions. At least now you know what it looks like! The wedding was very nice and interesting. A truly cultural experience. Our fundraising Gala to support our Spreading the Word program is fast approaching. Thursday Sept 28 at UBC's Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre. It promises to be a wonderful evening and we need about 25 more volunteers to make it the success we all want it to be! Hi Kathryn! Under other circumstances, we'd love to help out BUT we will be right in the midst of helping Chloë move here to Penticton! Buona Fortuna with Gala. Cheers, Patrizzio! Ours is the loss….Kathryn Mutual I'm sure!

Dear Patrick and Corinne, Yes it is a beautiful fall day. However, things for Colin's family have not been great. Really horrific in fact.  Colin's sister Val who is 58 is in critical condition in Foothills Hospital in Calgary.  She was admitted last Saturday. Colin is in Calgary and I was there for the weekend.  Things are dreadful.  She has had internal bleeding, had to have most of her digestive track removed, and has myelofibrosis a rare form of leukemia which means she cannot produce red blood cells.  Her last surgery went the best possible but it means she will forever be on a feeding tube and will have a colostomy bag.  This has been a nightmare for Val, her husband and children, Hannah 20 and Tom 24.

Can't really say much more.  Living day to day. Colin's brother Nathan and his wife, Catherine and his 92 year old mother are in Calgary. Certainly hope you both are well.  Each day has to be celebrated.  It's all we have got. Lots of love
Jo-Anne Hi Jo-Anne! So terribly sorry to learn of Val's devastating condition! Please convey our heartfelt hopes for as much of a return to health, for Val, as is possible under such nightmarish circumstances, to Colin and family. For our own part, a week or so ago we received extremely sad, sad news that extremely close friend, Charlie Pitchford, is now in May's Place, hospice, coincidentally, which Michelle Sutherland manages. We knew that things were probably not good, especially when we had not heard back from them after leaving phone messages, etc. At any rate, he phoned, primarily, to ask Corinne to marry their daughter Marnie.

Originally, we arranged to drive down to Vancouver on Sunday morning and Corinne was to perform the wedding that afternoon. However, Marnie has now decided to postpone the wedding. Not sure why and we really don't have any idea of Charlie's actual condition. Our fervent hope is that he will still be alive whenever she decides. [Michelle and Wayne were up in Osoyoos this past weekend and Lady Dar met them for lunch as they wanted to go to The Farmers' Market. Her feeling is that the wedding should be sooner rather than later.

We will still drive to Vancouver as there will be a small celebration of Charlie's birthday so perhaps we'll learn more then. Seems callous, given what he and his family are enduring, but on Monday we will then have to begin process of packing up Chloë's possessions. Things have changed in the twinkling of an eye, over the last month or so. We sold the loft about two weeks ago and Chloë put in an offer, (accepted), on a condo in a new development called Sendero Canyon, about ten minutes from our place, had a job offer from Pacific Quorum, a property management company here in Penticton and will start work on October 2nd! She will live with us until April/May when unit is scheduled to be finished. PQ is but a few blocks form our place so she can walk to work, at least while she is living with us. We are delighted, for all sorts of reasons, of course, but especially because we'll have built-in cat sitters so can go traveling much more easily!! Never a dull moment!

Enjoyed a wonderful, wonderful weekend at the Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival here in town. Friend, Judy Pratt, gave us two full passes she won in a radio contest as she is a volunteer at festival so felt she didn't need them. Worth $110 each!
Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Cheers for now! Patrizzio! Pics: Sendero Canyon construction site. Her lot is just beyond struts. Gil, realtor, and SC sales rep, when we visited site day before Chloë put in her offer!
Hi Patrick Thanks for your email.  So many changes and a quick timeline.  Keep in touch. Stay well.
Lots of love Jo-Anne

Hi Fartinologists! On behalf of Uncle Tony, your mighty mountain guide: I am hiking on Thursday behind the See-Ya-Later winery, starting from the pumphouse on Green Lake Road. Dogs are welcome. As usual, meet at 0740 at Summerland IGA or 0800 at HH Penticton to carpool. As the numbers have been lower for a while, would you let me know if you are coming......Also, as most of you are aware, Jim Bryan’s daughter Rosemary is undergoing treatment for colon cancer in Victoria. My wife has arranged for a comfort quilt to be delivered to her, with a card saying from Jim’s hiking friends. Cheers Tony, (& Director of Communications, Dr. Onkers)

Dear Anthea and Jim! So terribly, terribly sorry to learn of your daughter's devastating condition. Please convey our heartfelt hopes for as much of a return to health, for Rosemary, as is possible, under such obviously difficult circumstances. Please know that both Corinne and I are thinking of you and your family as you struggle to cope with this waking nightmare. Having come to know you two, to the extent that we do, we cannot but see that your strength and love will provide unbounded support for Rosemary and those around her. It goes, without saying, that you will take great good care of her. Fond, fond regards, Corinne and Patrick.

This is a super casual come-and-go event Similkameen style.

Hello Piazza Pizza People! Looking forward to the party already! We, (Corinne and Patrick), will be attending with four guests. Just after we invited the others, our daughter, Chloë, informed us that two of her close friends will be joining us on the Thanksgiving weekend. Am just wondering if there would be room for them as well. Don't wish to abuse your wonderful hospitality but should numbers allow it would be terrific if they could join us. Please don't worry if not able to accommodate. Certainly understand but thought I'd ask on the off chance there is room. Two of our "legitimate" guests will have but a teeny tiny sip or so of wine for reasons having nothing to do with your fabulous offerings. Thanks again. Cheers, Patrizzio!
