Lore and Gisela Sing The Pentiastic Jazz Festival Blues: Friday, September 8th/9th!

The universe is like a safe to which there is a combination. But the combination is locked up in the safe. -Peter De Vries, editor, novelist (1910-1993)

Today in Gibsons ✌️Hi Corrine and Pat This afternoon with Chloe in Gibsons! Liam: please show Mom Peace/Colin

Some smoke all the way from Penticton but okay. Went to Kelsey's doctoral defense yesterday and she has her doctorate with minor revisions. Driving now to Lander for the the start of wedding celebrations at 5 am Take care and have fun bye Gill

Welcome back to Vancouver, Stefano! We are attending the Pentastic Jazz Festival this weekend and were wishing you and Kathleen could have joined us. Took in two sets by Dave Bennett yesterday, first with his Quartet. He is a phenomenal clarinet player but with The Memphis Speed Kings, the other group he brought to festival, he is an ever more flamboyant, if that is possible, than Gery Lee Lewis! What a show, what showmanship and exceptional, exceptional spirited playing. Must away as we are off, early, to the Farmers' Market so that we can return to first sessions which start around 11:00 am. Looking forward to seeing a number of the events at the SS Sicamous. Cheers!

Hi Chloƫ! Trust you are well. We need to talk about coming move but in case we don't connect in next little while, (We r attending the Pentastic Hot Jazz Festival all weekend. I was just about to buy tickets, on-line, when I received a message from Judy Pratt offering us two weekend passes. She won them in a radio contest and is a volunteer so she said she didn't need them! Yesterday afternoon/evening we took in two sets by Dave Bennett, first with his Quartet. He is a phenomenal clarinet player but with The Memphis Speed Kings, the other group he brought to the festival, he is an ever more flamboyant, if that is possible, than Gery Lee Lewis! What a show, what showmanship and exceptional, exceptional spirited playing!]

At any rate, with respect to helping you pack, I was wondering if you want us to pick up some tubs before we come down on Sunday, September 25th, for Marnie Pitchford's wedding that your Mom will perform at May's Place at 4:00 pm. [Flamin' is meeting Lady Dar for lunch today at 11:30 am as they are up from Osoyoos for Farmers' Market.] The Marriage Officiant has another wedding, already scheduled, in Kelowna, on Saturday, 23rd. We will drive down to Vancouver on Sunday morning and she will perform the wedding that afternoon.

We really don't have any idea of Charlie's condition, [He phoned last Monday.], and our fervent hope is that he will still be alive by the 24th! Hardly bears thinking about but all one can do is trust that his will to live to see his daughter married will keep him going. He cannot walk but can move around quite well, he reported, cheerfully, in a wheelchair and he seemed very, very positive, given dire circumstances. With respect to the process of packing up your possessions, will ned to know what you plan to take with in terms of large pieces of furniture. Might have to rent a small cube U-Haul truck to move larger items. As you know, I drove one when we moved in 2015 and can manage again, if circumstances demand. However, if Ragin' and his trusty truck are available we will need to coordinate loading of same and renting a trailer, (to be attached to his hitch), should that be necessary.

I would hope that the final loading would take place, on or by Wednesday, September 27th, to leave Vancouver, Thursday morning, with a stop in Chilliwack, if room available, for TV stand, [57" long, 20" wide, 37.5" high], from Heather and Joe, to complete drive in daylight. Departure date can be pushed back a day or two, depending, again, on circumstances. However things play out I will most likely leave Lady Dar to help with final cleaning of condo to then drive up with Chloƫ or else take the MarriageMobile herself while I either make trip with Branko or in U-Haul.

Let me know about tubs, (size, number, etc.), and any decisions you've made about furniture and such. Must away as we are off, early, to the Farmers' Market so that we can return to first sessions which start around 11:00 am. Looking forward to seeing a number of the events at the SS Sicamous as I never been on board before. Love and Cheers, Dad!
