Ancient Ruins Christmas Pot-Luck Blues: Thursday, December 14th!

Those of us who shout the loudest about Americanism in making character assassinations are all too frequently those who, by our own words and acts, ignore some of the basic principles of Americanism: The right to criticize; The right to hold unpopular beliefs; The right to protest; The right of independent thought. -Margaret Chase Smith, US senator (14 Dec 1897-1995)

Hi Patrick and Corrine Sorry for the delayed response....busy time of the year...we are just going our Xmas cards and emails and I thought I would respond to you then.... since that has yet to happen..thought I would do a quick reply... Louise and Henryk

Hi Louise and Henryk! Thank you for the quick reply! Same day service isn't "delayed"! Appreciate, muchly, you having us. Once back from Costa Rica, on February 4th, we plan to drive to Palm Desert for the 5th and 6th so we should be knocking on your Sun City door by mid to late afternoon of the 7th. [Could you send along your address and Swiss bank account number when you have a moment!] Be great if Henryk is there but we know he is busy. Will be in touch, from LA, so that we can fine tune details. Until next our paths cross, Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year to you, Louise, and Henryk. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Faulder Folk! Just a quick note to thank everyone for the wonderful, wonderful outing today! What a great pre-Christmas celebration! Setting and weather couldn't have been better. Shared food was stupendous. Thanks, in particular, to Timber Wolf Tony for pre-hike firewood gathering and to all those who contributed, in one way or another, to the toasty bonfire. Most quaffable strong drink certainly helped to keep us warm as well. Thanks again, to one and all for your generous sharing of comestibles, quaffables and heartfelt bonhomie! Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year to you and your families. Cheers, Patrizzio! PS: Map and Stats for hike! If you follow link you will soon realize that I forgot to turn off my odometer once back at the car. Too, too much hootch, obviously!

Thank-you for all the beautiful pictures!!! Another wonderful memory!!!!!!!! Sharon aka South Okanagan Princess Hi Principessa! Glad you enjoyed the snapolas. Terrific to see you and catch up a bit. Trust we'll do some more hikes this coming Spring. Cheers, Patrizzio! Very nice our dear friend! Aarturo & Josinta Thanks for the photos of the hike. See you soon. Cheers, Tim

Dear Volunteers, At the close of the 2017 festival, I was presented with a book of notes and cards written by volunteers. I chose to make my way through the book slowly, because reading each and every note was quite emotional, and reminded me of the many friendships and joyful memories that have been made over the last twelve years. I would like to thank you all for the support you have shown the festival and given me, and the many hours of labour you have put in.

For those of you who would like to stay in touch, I can be reached at hal@halwake.com. I'd love to hear from you and find out how you are doing. And if you'd like to attend my party on January 12th at Performance Works on Granville Island, here is where you can register: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/hal-wakes-leaving-party-tickets-40085858883?aff=ehomecard Hope to see you there. With respect and affection, Hal

Hi Hal! Trust you are well. Sorry I didn't really have a chance to say goodbye after the VWF. We had a simply wonderful time so congratulations on your last Festival! Unfortunately, we won't be able to attend your party as we will spend New Year's in LA and then fly to Costa Rica until February 4th. All the very best, Hal, and congratulations on the wonderful job you did steering the VWF to become the unmitigated success it became under your watch. Until next our paths cross, take care of yourself. Come and visit and drink some wine. Plenty of room here and we'd love to see you. All the best in your coming retirement. Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year to you, Hal! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: From VWF!

Dear Patrizzio, Thank you for his very kind note and the pictures. I understand perfectly that people do not plan their lives around my selfish needs, but I will miss you both. You have given so much to to the festival in so many ways. It wouldn't be what it is without the contributions of so many people, not the least you two. I'm trying to catch up on some rest before I plunge into something new. No doubt it will involve books and writers. When you're in town in the future and have time for a chat, let's make it happen. Travel safe, Hal

Hi again, Hal! Both Lady Dar and I would de delighted to get together whenever we are in town and timing works for everyone. Will send along a message to forewarn you! Must away to split some kindling before Lady Dar is back from her volunteer shift at Soupateria, a food program for homeless, and starts complaining about the hired help! No volunteers at the Burns Street Hot Sheets Hotel and Gin Joint! All the best. Cheers, Patrizzio!
