Under the Louvres Decanted Stuff & Garage Clean-up Blues; Wednesday, May 3rd!

The first method for estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him. -Niccolo Machiavelli, political philosopher and author (3 May 1469-1527)

Hi! Patrick: Back home & rested up from my busy & tiring 6 weeks taking care of my parents after Dad's kidney surgery. I went on a good 3 hr. bike ride with the girls yesterday up to Shingle Creek Rd. - my legs & glutes sure got a good workout. Been meaning to let you know that I was unable to open up your e-cards that you sent me. Thanks for thinking of me! We have coming from Niagara Falls arriving on Mon. May 8 for 10 days and then friends from Banff arriving for May long weekend. How's the new hip? Hear that you are back to your biking again. Are you back to hiking with the Old Farts yet? I haven't hiked with them for over 2 months ................will join back up after my company is gone. Take care!! Mary Lee :-)

Hi Motor Mary! Welcome back! I'd heard, through the grapevine, [Jack Rabbit told me about great ride to Shingle Creek! Bravo!!!], that you were back and riding with The Sisterhood! Have been very busy ourselves ever since Ragin' Bull, [You met him at Open House.], arrived, a week ago Tuesday. Hope to see you soon. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrice, The shelves look fabulous indeed, very impressive!. Nice you had a nice adventurous visit with ragin' as I know he has had a tough time and probably good for him to hang out with friends and have his mind on a project for a while. Have had Maureen working on the yard here too getting it spruced up for the anticipated spring and growing season ...still ahead and not quite here unfortunately although we did enjoy a very warm and sunny day yesterday as I worked out at Golden Ears for the last day of cleaning and packing up the site.

Put myself on call until the next and supposedly last big gag which is another hummer flip in Vancouver heights at the top of boundary road. This one not nearly as intense as they want it to only roll on it's side which is a challenge in itself to find just the right pressure to achieve this without going "over the top". This could happen at any time in the next week and is dependent on that big GPV vehicle you saw in the clips working properly or not, It has been a mechanical disaster for the show unfortunately but fortunately is an American thing that we are able to keep at arms length responsibility wise.

Very much looking forward to a visit with you guys soon, I believe Colleen has messaged you to coordinate something with her trip to Belize in mind. Great pictures and lovely to see Corrine, Lynne,Pedro and Ragin' all looking like they are enjoying life, Also great to hear about all the fabulous renos and garden upgrades and look forward to seeing them sometime soon. Take care for now and talk soon. Cheers, Al

Hi Belize Babe and Golden Ears Giggster! Congratulations on your coming trip, Marilyn! Hip Hip Hooray! You certainly earned it and am pleased that all your hard work earned you a spot. Lady Dar is green with envy, just thinking about you enjoying life there!

Glad to hear that blowing things to bits still goes well for Destructo Man! Big Al, you might wish to consider hiring Etta and Duke as your assistants as, of late, they certainly qualify as Destructo Felines! Bit of light drizzle this morning and instead of terrorizing the neighbourhood they tend to spend their boundless energy, inside, making a hurdle racecourse out of the furniture, leaping and bounding after each other like furry RPG's!

Delighted to hear that you miss us, ["Mutual, I'm sure!" Please identify line!], BUT, we will be in LA for Alejandro's wedding on the weekend you suggest. In fact, I won't be back in Penticton until July 17th. I'm driving down to Vancouver on the morning of June 28th, to collect Sarge. [He has never been to LA and we will do some wine-tasting en route!] We travel well together and it will make trip that much more comfortable with two drivers, obviously. We will spend first night in Portland with malt swilling friends, Digitale and Fingare, and then probably a couple in Sonoma before heading into Berkeley to stay with friends, Donna Florida and Cactus. Have to be in LA by July 4th to collect Lady Dar and Chloë next day. [Cora Lee is flying as she needs to limit her time away during wedding season.]

Unfortunately, Sarge cannot stay for the wedding on July 7th as he has commitments back home. The Sisterhood will fly out on Monday, July 10th. I'll wend my own way back to stay in Vancouver over the 14th/15th/16th to take in the Folk Fest, then drive to Penticton on Monday, July 17th.

This being the case, we have come up with a number of other possible dates for your visit, should any dovetail with your busy schedules. These are over the weekend but if it is convenient, during the week is great too so we may need to fine tune. Weekend of June 23rd/24th/25th but you are just back from Belize so probably too soon for you, Marilyn. You decide. Next would not be until July 21st/22nd/23rd or August 4th/5th/6th or August 25th/26th/27th. Hope some of these will work for you. Let us know what you think and we'll plan accordingly.

Must away as I have to tidy up patio, garage and Rumpus Room to ready place for next round of Freeloaders, arriving tomorrow evening! Fondestos from Lady Dar, busy staining, to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Yesterday afternoon in Rumpus Room and then that evening at bridge. Judy Blue's place is in front of the original Penticton Cemetery, now a lovely park, with benches to sit upon for quiet reflection on the nature of Life, Wine and Single Malt!

Hi Andre The Giant and Darling Rosemary! Trust you are both well. Sorry that I've not replied sooner but have been very busy ever since Lady Dar returned from Vancouver. Friend, Ragin' Bull, drove up to build three shelving units for Rumpus Room and that kept us busy for the time he was here.

I'm happy to have your visitor ride the bike. It should probably have a bit of tune-up beforehand, however. Whether you or he can do that I'll let you decide. Not sure how inner tubes have fared over last four years of inactivity and some of the cables may well need adjustment, chain and cassette to be oiled, etc. Brake pads should be checked. Probably fine but better safe than sorry.

With respect to the pedals, the clips are just the "basic", universal type, I imagine. I bought the bike in York and cannot remember the brand of the clip pedals. However, they fit the shoes I use on my Trek. [If I remember correctly, I left a pair with rest of my riding gear and if they fit, your friend is welcome to use them as well.] Last time I was at MEC, in Vancouver, I  bought another pair of pedals, [Shimano SPD, PD-A530], for the bike I use for KVR, and they fir the same shoes. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Must away as Chloë and Pamela, Cora Lee's sister, from Winnipeg, in Vancouver on business, are arriving tomorrow evening! Fondestos from Lady Dar to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Obsessive Compulsive Toilet Paper Roll Directionally Challenged Person!
Pleased as punch that you made it home without any further complications or worries about power-steering fluid levels. Glad you found the oatmeal stout to your liking!

We certainly enjoyed your visit and want to thank you again for all of your tireless, hard work culminating in the wonderful shelving units. Lady Dar started staining them yesterday, after I vacuumed them, with help from Etta and Duke, it goes without saying! Went for an enjoyable ride, [Just the PTC/Lakeshore/Riverside Gerbil/Hammster Cage Loopage, with a foray up along the KVR as far as Vancouver Hill.], afterwards as it was a glorious sunny day. First time I've worn shorts since putting them away in October of last year!

Monday evening we enjoyed a terrific discussion at book club and last night we had a grand time with two tables at Judy Blue's place. This morning I started sorting out the garage so that quite a bit of the stuff I decanted from the storage lockers can be stored there, at least in temporary piles. Of course, once shelves have been stained, Varathaned and attached together and to wall, we'll have more accessible storage for said items when boxes of vinyl and books find their new home!

Just back from casting our votes at the Advance Poll, off Riverside, at the Days Inn. Didn't have to wait at all and were in and out in probably two minutes. Then to the picture framing gallery where Lady Dar had taken a number of paintings/photographs that she had framed. Back home she is busy deciding upon new groupings. As soon as I've sent this message I will head back outside to move the storage locker lumber back around the side of the house until I'm ready to start working on the bike units. I want to put the doors back on the upright and put two shelves in so that we can use it to store snow shovels garden implements and the like, anything else not going in the garage.

Haven't had a chance to finish vegetable garden extension but plan to tackle that as soon as I've dealt with upright storage locker. Instead of removing more lava rock, yesterday, Lady Dar went shopping for a new umbrella, yellow, for patio. Once I'd sorted and moved lumber, we put it together but decided to take it back as it simply didn't work in space. Lady Dar was most distraught as she was in love with the particular shade of yellow! As you so rightly assert, "No habrá paz para los malvados! Thanks again dear, overly generous friend, for such incredible help and expertise. Goes without saying, simply couldn't have done it without you so we are truly indebted to you and appreciate your more than stupendous willingness to travel here to help. Finally, thanks for KVR snapola. Fondestos from Imelda, busy designing shoe racks for your next visit! Cheers, Il Conduttore/Patrizzio!

Will send more pics of your stay but here are a few for now. Pics: Yesterday afternoon in Rumpus Room and then that evening at bridge. Judy Blue's place is in front of the original Penticton Cemetery, now a lovely park, with benches to sit upon for quiet reflection on the nature of Life, Wine and Single Malt! Feline Inspectores! Arrivederci and Finished Product! Bear!

Patrizzio! I love that snap of the “shelving inspectors”. Fortunately, it seems our efforts were of adequate quality. The stain looks great too! Now, as I understand you will be blowing through the (traffic) grid-lock that is Vancouver. I would greatly appreciate and of course re-imburse you for: 4 x Oatmeal Stout; 4 x IPA; 4 x Black IPA; 4 x scape salt.

Let me know if you will have chance to stop by for dinner and I will prepare something, as I did not have time to impress with my culinary skills while there due to shelving work. Branko

Hi Ragin'! Since you are such a fan of Penticton products you should think very seriously about moving here! Happy to fill your order!!! Thanks for dinner invitation. Without trying to seem hoity-toity, I do think we have a number of "free" nights over the course of our stay so dinner sounds lovely. Thank you. However, I'll need to ask Lady Dar, {I won't see her until later this afternoon.], which evening might work best and then let you know to make sure it suits you as well, of course. Trust things are back to normal and all goes well on the caring front. Chat soon. Thanks again, Master Builder! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Sarge! Pleased as punch that all the travel plans for LA have fallen into place, at least as far as dates, etc. Forgot to mention that Branko muled your wine. Not sure if he has been in touch or not but give him a shout if he hasn't called. We'll bring Upper Bench cheese when we head back to Vancouver unless you would rather have Chloë bring it back with her this coming Sunday. Just let us know. Will let you know about our "freeloading" stays once I've heard back from the unsuspecting! Cheers, Patrizzio! Thanks. What's Ragin's' number.
