Double AA Dynamo Sister Sisters Blues: Tuesday, September 4th!

In hatred as in love, we grow like the thing we brood upon. What we loathe, we graft into our very soul. -Mary Renault, novelist (4 Sep 1905-1983)

Happy 51st Ayn! Trust you and Winnie will enjoy your birthday as much as we
enjoyed your visit! Fondestos from Etta and Duke! Love, Mom and Dad!
Thank you for the magic show!! Love Ayn

Hi Susannah and Carolina! Not sure if you are able to play this evening. Have not heard from either of you. If so, please let me know and we'll plan accordingly. Judy Blue has offered to host. Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi again, Carolina! Fabulous that you can join us! Yes, Judy Blue is Judy Pratt. See you at her place at 6:30 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Judy Blue! It was wonderful that you could join us and meet Ayn as well. You should visit her in LA when time works for you both. LA is a wonderfully exciting town in so many ways. You will see, from flurry of messages, that you are hosting bridge this evening! Thanks for this. See you at 6:30 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Farewell Saturday night.
Thanks for pics . They are great. I have forwarded them to vpratt!! See you tonite. Do you know how many are coming? Don't bring my table. I still have the borrowed one!! Judy Xo Hi Happy Hostess! Glad you enjoyed pics. I haven't heard back from Susan so I suspect there will be just four of us. If Susan does arrive we can rotate. Thanks again. Cheers, Patrizzio!Pics: Duke eating grass; Etta supervising; Ashlynn, Lady Dar's charge this morning!
I did not receive an email about tonight. But I can attend. Please advise address. Hi Susannah! Great that you can join us. I don't have Judy's street address but here is her home number and her cell. I left her voice mail messages so if I hear back, I'll send address along. If not, give her a call as she'll be home, at some time, I assume, before we arrive. Cheers, Patrizzio!

No problem. I happened to have lunch with her today. Here is her address, behind the old cemetery. Susan Thanks and Cheers! Patrizzio! Well, well, well...Apologies for not getting back to you sooner! It's been a whirlwind for me since I got home...Sadly - yes - I am at home and not hiding out at Terravista (though believe me, I would LOVE to be there)!

The kitchen is looking GREAT! Is it done yet? Hope you had a wonderful visit with Ayn...I, of course, am extremely jealous! :) My Dad was in town for the long weekend, and I took him up to Los Olivos to do some tasting at my friend Larry Schaffer's tasting room in Los Olivos. Tercero Wines...and he's a one-man band...foot stomps all of the grapes himself. You'd love him! He makes a blend called "Verbiage," since he likes to talk...and I don't know ANYONE else like that! :) We had a great time and Dad left yesterday. I miss him already!

So let me know when you are coming to LA, and we'll make sure you get to meet Larry and his fabulous wines! Hope all is well and that the fires are all out! Back to work for me... Hugs to all! Love from LALA Land, Never Never

611 Burns Street End of Kitchen Reno/Farewell Summer Bash, Saturday, September 15th!

Please join Lady Dar and Patrizzio to celebrate the passing of our smoke-filled, wildfire summer and the formal unveiling of Lady Dar's remarkable kitchen vision!

[Woodgroove Thomasino, above, starting early, after mounting wall shelves next to malt cabinet and then, below, over kitchen sink!] A drop-in, anytime after 4:00 pm, until 10:00pm, or until the hootch runs out. Children welcome, as well as Insignificant Others. (I certainly know of what I speak, as I am one, in Spades!)

Come and visit with old friends or make new ones while you sip and sup and just generally enjoy the fact that we live in such a marvellous, marvellous part of the world, surrounded by even more fascinating folk. Until then, Fondest of Fondestos from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!

PS: Guard Felines, Miss Etta and El Diablo Duke, will be on duty, (Given that policing is rather lax in our neighbourhood!), though......both, usually, typically, ordinarily lazy, lazy, sleepy, sleepy cats are certainly not amused!

Can't wait to see you guys, the Renos, and those silly cats. I have a wedding at 4:00, however it is on the Sicamous and we should be there around 5:30 - hopefully the wine will not run out before hand. It will be wonderful to see you both. Judi Hi Dame Judith! Glad you and Single Malt Man can join us. Don't worry, there will be plenty of food and hootch left whenever you arrive, by lifeboat, if needs be! Looking forward to seeing you both as well. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Patrick and Corinne, Bill and I would be delighted to attend your kitchen reveal on Sept 15. Thank you for the invitation. I like the grout colour that you chosešŸ‘ Besides wine what can I bring? Some cheese and crackers?
Pamela
I forgot to mention that Sandy Hirth and her group are playing at Bench 1775 on Sat, Sept 8 from 1-4. I plan to go. Are you interested? Pamela Hi Naramata Bench/Bench 1775 Goil! Terrific that you and Guillermo Selvaggio can join us for bash! Thanks for generous offer of crackers and cheese but all we really want is your scintillating company! Thanks as well for invitation to hear Sandy. Would certainly go except for the fact that we have weekend passes for Pentastic. As well, Lady Dar has a wedding, at Poplar Grove, I believe, at 4:00 pm, so she'll be racing around. Flamin' and Sarge are up for the night on Thursday, spending the rest of the weekend at Spirit Ridge. Given Jazz Festival and wedding we won't be heading to Osoyoos. However, ChloĆ« will be going down, with a couple of friends from Vancouver, to stay in our suite. Nice life if you can get it!

Hi Patrick, long time no see, no hear, nothing. Those renovations had to keep you pretty occupied. Have you been out with the group lately? I go with them rarely, so that was not a surprise that I did not see you, but I did not hear about you either. Thank you for the invitation, we would like to come at least for a short time. Below is my last message to the last Thursday group and a few pictures. You might still recognise some of us.

Attached are a few shots from another wonderful trip to the hills. Do with them as you please:

https://photos.app.goo.gl/LHEcjDcsFQQ9QgH2A We came across a patch of these beautiful flowers which I have never seen before. Does anyone know the name of it? So late in season, a real surprise. As you see, for the most of the trip it was only Jack Sr, Dave W and I. We left everyone else in the dust of our boots. Picture #15 is a proof that nobody can dispute our inclusiveness. Cheers, Al

Thank You for the invite...I have a cat allergy--so No..Sorry.. DBJS Hi Jacob Two Two! Felines won't be around as they hightail it as soon as people start to arrive. Furthermore, you can stay outside on back patio. In short, we would really like you to come by, if only until you start to sneeze and your eyes begin watering! Cheers, Patrizzio

Sorry I didn't reply to your earlier message, regarding bridge times, and your conflict, but we had a pretty full weekend with Ayn visiting from LA. Added into mix, helping ChloĆ« put together Ikea furniture while Lady Dar had four weddings as well! Shortly, I will be sending out another message to group. Had one table last night at Judy Blue's and everyone there can play on Thursday evenings so I'm going to suggest that night and see who can play then before deciding what might work best for most. I'm sure we might have to change day, some weeks, even if we set a regular night, at least until Christmas. Hello to Super Selvaggio and best wishes to you, Legend Lady! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pic: Lazy Miss Etta supervising morning watering, on recently recovered patio chair, work by Lady Darjeeling's Furniture Upholstery Establishment!
Hi Patrick, The renos look nice but the booze all looks the same. I hope that we will be able to make the party. Great job! It is nice to get your house back in order and to be able to relax and enjoy your home. Cheers, Tim and Marian Hi Summerland Cousins! Would be terrific if you can join us for bash! Cheers, Patrizzio! Thank you Patrick for your kind invitation! Unfortunately, Doug and I are going to be out of town on the 15th, and will not be able to attend your party. We will be spending time with our grandkids, so that is not too too bad. Have a great time, enjoy your new kitchen, and We hope to see you soon, Cheers! Hanneke and Doug Hi Proud Grandprents! Sorry that you can't join us for bash but understand completely! Fondestos, Patrizzio!

Looking forward to seeing the place this Thursday. Are you guys going to Spirit Ridge on Friday. Hello Harbour Terrace Folk! All the renos have to started over after Double AA session yesterday so no need for you to stay overnight!  What would you like for dinner on Thursday? Any anticipated arrival time? Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: At Sendero, put two beds together, with Ayn, on Thursday night! Double Trouble today! Will you ever get done with Reno’s & furniture moving !!!! Tell Corinne, seeing as she planted cactus in those pots, that Epsomsalt is a great fertilizer for them 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt with 4 litres of wate, misting them is preferred. Also add compose, rich in nutrients to the soil mix. How is that for plant advice !!!! Clara [From Garden Queen Clarisse!]
So Marlo went to the Doc today after blood work (port worked fine today). Doc Pitz was happy with her progress. Liver test level Billyrubin is at 10 or normal!!! White cell blood is down but not surprising as just over infection & stomach is ok. Chemo put off til next week to allow white cells to multiple & as things good not rushing to next treatment. Sore stomach likely from infection medication. CT scan showing breast tumour smaller & other spots do show some progress & scaring on bone which is good news as it is healing. George Good news about Marlo! This is a great email Thanks Mom I never stop pulling for Marlo to beat this Ayn This is great!!!!! ❤️

PatriƧio, Wow, lots of response to your invitation!  I feel honored to be included in two of those categories, and relieved that you did not paraphrase the quotation “Romans, Countrymen and Lovers”.  That would have cut down my options severely!  If absolutely necessary, I will share the Murphy bed with Ms. Sharapova, I understand she is attending as she is out of the US Open. On a slightly negative tone, I have to note your lack of response to my email in support of dogs.  I can only surmise that you have accepted, no doubt painfully, with anguish, the hard truth, that dogs are “cooler” than those nasty little narcissistic furbags! ANYWAY, see you the Friday aft, let me know if you want to haul firewood, I’ll bring the truck.

[End of Hwy#3.  Left: the South Atlantic.  Right: the entrance to Magellan’s Strait. South, on a clear day, you might see Antartica … well, almost ...] I had a bit of a conversation with a friend about the importance of separating one’s “wants” with their “needs”.  Some people feel they “need” to go to New York for the weekend to just unwind and catch a play.  I will leave you with the following thoughts about my wants … and plans for a possible road trip ...

[But that is Antartica in the distance, from a bit of a further South viewpoint

“Tierra del Fuero” btw, means (literally) “Land of Fire” - life is tough down there.] Hello Captain Magellan! Are those shots from someone, (Self-Centered Sandy?), who has actually visited the tip of South America? Having been there, in 2008, I would rather suggest a bike trip, touring the flatlands of Denmark and/or The Netherlands. You might "want" the former but you "need" the latter! Sorry about the separation anxiety regarding your rare model BMW but you "need" to pedal, if only for health reasons.

[Puerto de Hambre.  Smack in the middle of Magellan’s Strait. Not sure if the fence is to keep (what?) out, or in!] In this regard, please do bring your pick-up. You can then transport your bike for a couple of KVR rides along with a few firewood runs to Spiller. In addition, I would very much appreciate being able to transport much of the lumber I have stacked along the north side of the house up to Sendero. I plan to use it to build shelving for ChloĆ« in her garage. She certainly doesn't have any "extra" money for new lumber and neither do I, given the extensive cost overrun of the on-going kitchen renovation! At any rate, the lumber will do just fine for the sort of things she will be warehousing: large storage tubs, boxes of Xmas decorations, and the like.

[Yes, there are people there. And, that is snow.] While I don't expect this to be a "working" getaway, on your part, I would also like your opinion/advice on how best to arrange the shelving, given what I have in mind. Perhaps a drawing on the back of a label peeled from an empty malt bottle! Like the shelving project in our garage, I see this as a staged installation, adding more modules as time and material allow. Anyway, loads to do so clear your calendar until Christmas Open House and then you won't have to make the trip twice! In fact, you can stay with Chloƫ and then you won't have to commute to the work site!!!

[Slight regrets I sold this little number. 1982 BMW LS650. Rare model. Not that many built.  All you hear is the woosh of the exhaust.
Can’t beat that good old German engineering!  AND, you don’t have to pedal!!]

On the kitchen front. Appliance Man, (Kyle), came yesterday to finish microwave surround and, perhaps more importantly, balance the wine fridge! The back right corner was far too low and imbalance prevented the door from closing without pushing it from bottom, front left. Had emptied fridge twice to allow him to required balancing but he never had time to attend to it on earlier calls. [ We reloaded it after first decanting as we had no idea when he planned to return!] This time he had a really nifty lifter, two separate pads he could slide under appliance and then inflate to move it quite easily.

On second move we left wine in boxes in Rumpus Room so now we will be able to re-arrange furniture there in order to make place more live-able. Maddeningly, we are still waiting for lip on top stair to be installed. [Needed to meet new cork flooring.] Until this work is completed all the books on the shelving unit next to the door are in more tubs in the Rumpus Room, as shelf cannot be moved, easily, or at all, with such considerable weight. Also have to vacuum and clean rest of shelving and room as Mike repaired the drywall channel where wiring for overhead projector was buried. When he sanded fine dust settled everywhere, in spite of plastic sheeting.

Same is true, to a lesser extent, in living room, as outside wall, had a large patch of drywall filled and sanded. Will paint this wall but probably not until after September Bash as before that we have more furniture to move! In the musical furniture dance, the large TV cabinet in living  room will now be housed in our bedroom, Lady Dar's desk moved into the Rumpus Room so the northwest corner will become her "Office", and the book case beside her desk, moved into the corner where TV cabinet once stood. This piece is much smaller and will give us more space for dining room table and chairs, etc. At least this is the plan. Will simply have to see how things go once we've moved things around.

Only had one table last night, hosted by Judy Blue. However, two new recruits, Carolina and Susannah, who have keen to play for last few gatherings. With them and perhaps another person from JB's afternoon bridge circle, we may be reaching a critical mass for two tables, even with people away, etc. Flamin' and Sarge are up for the night on Thursday, spending the rest of the weekend at Spirit Ridge. We have weekend tickets for Pentastic Jazz Festival so we won't be heading to Osoyoos. However, Chloƫ will be going down with a couple of friends from Vancouver.

With respect to canines, you obviously don't remember but this is the second or third time you have forwarded this pooch propaganda! I have taken to letting Duke screen my messages since he is up so early every morning and I assume he considered this message spam and hence immediately consigned it to the trash bin! Clever, clever boy! That being said, have to outfox them later today as we are taking them to the SPCA for their annual check-ups. Haven't given them much dry food this morning so am hoping I can "lure" them inside, around 1:00 pm, to corral them for an hour or so, before putting them into their carrier case.

Hope things are going as well as can be expected on the home front. Stay well. Take care of yourself. Fondestos from Lady Dar, just off to join The Flatlanders, walking the mean streets of Penticton! Cheers, Il Conduttore! Pics: Duke casting a baleful eye! Bridge at Judy Blue's, with Carolina and Susannah; floating shelves above sink; wall of appliances where pantry used to be; sofa with TV cabinet, yet to be moved; last of red peppers.

Dear Patrick, I hope that you've had a wonderful Summer. We can't believe how quickly it went. The grapes are doing very well and we're looking forward to a great vintage. I've packed up your wine club package and it is ready to for you to pick up at the winery. I'm very excited about this package. We're Celebrating our recent medals in the National Wine Awards of Canada. Included with this shipment are: x1 Chardonnay 2015 (GOLD MEDAL WINNER) x1 Merlot 2016 (SILVER MEDAL WINNER) x1 Cabernet Franc 2016 (SILVER MEDAL WINNER) I hope you enjoy the selections. I've attached Michael's tasting notes for each of the wines for your information. Thank you! Jodi Bartier, Bartier Bros. Vineyard & Winery Hi Wine Mule! Any chance you could stop by Bartier, en route to Freeloading at Spirit Ridge, and collect our release? Thanks and Cheers, Sendero Banking Group!

Hi Jodie! Thanks for notice of release. While we won't be able to collect wine, [Lady Dar, wearing her Wedding Officiant hat, has a wedding, at Poplar Grove, I believe, at 4:00 pm, Saturday, and we have weekend passes for Pentastic.], our daughter, Chloƫ, will be going down to Osoyoos, with a couple of friends from Vancouver, to stay/freeload in our suite at Spirit Ridge, (Nice life if you can get it!), so I've asked her stop in. Please put a lock on box! Thanks and Cheers, Patrizzio! Pic: For visual identification purposes: Chloƫ holding Duke, with Katie, close friend from Vernon. Check Chloƫ's fingerprints as well. See if her thumb print works on iPhone!
