Thermometer Rising Blues: Monday, January 16th!

To the question whether I am a pessimist or an optimist, I answer that my knowledge is pessimistic, but my willing and hoping are optimistic. -Albert Schweitzer, philosopher, physician, musician, Nobel laureate (1875-1965)

Dermot Shirley I am driving the family heirloom car (2000 Volvo sedan). It has both a CD AND cassette player

Sara Jane McGillivray And we still have the Mixed Tapes that Dermot made for our wedding!!

Patrick James Dunn
Patrick James Dunn Dear Audio Archivist, Bravo! Finally I've found a fellow time traveler! I knew there was a reason I wouldn't let Lady Dar throw out all our cassettes. Come and visit with your heirloom wheels and we'll drive from winery to winery, swerving down Memory Lane, howling at the moon! Cheers!!!

Hello Mesunteaños, El Toro Salvaje and Carlos the Jackal! Foist things foist: Ragin', can I leave it to you to coordinate cheque pick-up/delivery with Carlos and then mail bundled monies to Burns Street as soon as possible as Duke and Etta need another bag of inordinately expensive cat food!

Certainly enjoyed The Giggster's Guide to South of the Border, Down Mexico Way! Please include an audio clip of the speed-fueled street bands with the promised pics! Trust this is just the start of soon-to-be block-buster, best-seller of the Not-So Lonely Planet! I trust Foreign Affairs has upped your daily stipend, given the extreme conditions of your hardship posting! However, hard to believe you will ever want to return to the peace and quiet of Galiano!

Travel safely
San Cristobal de las Casas, Calamity and Whirlage, travel safely to the Jackal's Lair, Ragin'! Must away as Duke is quite insistent about me playing soccer with him, Ragin'! You would be impressed with his dribbling skills as well as his goal tending abilities. In our bedroom, when I throw a piece of crumpled paper into the air, above our bed, he can often bat it down, leaping up to intercept it as it flies towards the living room. Quite an acrobat! Is Real Madrid CF, looking for a goalie? Fondestos from Mme Coriandr, just back from executing downward stretching feline. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Gopher Girl!

Hi All, We only arrive on Saturday the 28 th and could only get a single room ( 1 of last 2- must be busy). However, we'll see Trevor then, and plan to see Pat & Corinne in Penticton around Feb 9th if that works. Cheers from Las Vegas... Gregg & Francesca I am not able to be there that weekend.
Hello Ski Slope People! Sorry you can't make the weekend Sarge. Since Lurch and  Grogg won't be there until Saturday, I'm wondering if we can bunk with you, on Friday night, Trevorino? Lady Dar can sleep on the couch and the two Macho Men can have the bed! How does that sound? If you already have other freeloaders, don't worry. Maybe we'll just drive up for the day and have a longer visit with you in Penticton, particularly if you think you'll be able to visit us here. Anyway, let us know. Perhaps a call when you are with Clan Sutherland. Cheers for now. Patrizzio!

Dear Patrick Glad you saved Duke!  Poor baby.  Have a great week!  PUSH Festival is on in Vancouver so trying to fit in a few performances. Take care
Jo-Anne
Hi Overly Sympathetic One! I regret to inform you that Duke certainly doesn't need any coddling as he is, in reality, a Bad, Bad Boy! However, I must admit, he had us in stitches this morning with his acrobatics. He has learned how to hop from the couch, to the mantle, then onto the top of the malt cabinet and from there to the top of the oak cupboard. Had to take down a small glass pitcher from the end next to the cabinet as I knew he was going to try the leap there after we first chased him down. I was afraid he'd skid and knock the ornament to the floor, or worse!

When our backs were next turned he was at the edge of the cupboard, eyeing the gap between it and the top of the kitchen cabinets which bracket the sink. We have a row of large pewter dishes, on stands, there and given the distance he must leap, I'm hoping, (Holding my breath and crossing my fingers really!), that he won't attempt this particular jump. To complete his Evil Knievel leap he would have to launch himself into about 5' of thin air, on an upward trajectory and there really isn't anywhere for him to land, on the other side, and very little if any purchase, even for his dagger-like talons, should he misjudge!

I'm more concerned that he might injure himself, although the thought of one or more of the reasonably heavy pewter dishes crashing down on the granite counter or sink or tile floor doesn't bear thinking about! I guess we might have to put razor wire on top of all the cabinets and cupboards as his next antic was to bound onto the kitchen counter, next leap atop the fridge and from there to the narrow space above the tall end cupboard. From here he was eyeing the top of the TV cabinet, covered with some glass decanters, a spot he has been scoping for a long time! Fortunately, the space between the ceiling and this cupboard is so cramped that I don't think he can position himself for the leap. That being said, I'm sure he will figure something out.

Again, if he does make the leap, the landing spot is lower than the cabinet, so an easier jump, but I think he would skid once he makes contact, probably knocking something over and onto the floor, perhaps even onto the standing lamp beside the cabinet. Would you like to adopt him? Must away as I'm to make a salad for dinner. PUSH sounds terrific. Hope you can find some tickets. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Mountain Goat Cat! Exhausto Cats! Etta was worn out just from watching!

Hello Miami Nice and Cat Lovers Everywhere! Hope you are having fun, Ayn, and not working too hard! I'm sure Winston never misbehaves!  Love and Cheers, Dad/Patrizzio!

There’s a couch in the lounge area of my condo – I think it converts to a double bed – not sure. Will check it out and if it does you are more than welcome to bunk down with me. Trevor Hi Patrick, Corinne and Trevor! Looks like it is just us for the visit. Corben has hockey at 8am so I am guessing we will leave town by 10 or 10:30am. Arrive at SP 11:15am and unpack.

Lunch would be perfect! We can do something at our place or go out. Let me know and I can bring things up. Just won't have a lot of time to cook but I can always give Trevor a key so he can put the crockpot on in the morning if needed. I have a lasagna frozen and it will cook great in the crockpot! Blasting off to ski is not critical. Passes are paid for. Had a great 15 days in December and will get more by the end of March. If Doug wants to head out that is fine but don't feel the need to rush away. I know Trevor is a weekday warrior too and likes to rest his knees on weekends:) Boys just may go tubing after lunch for something different. Peggy's couch is a futon so it does convert to a doublebed. Hope this helps. Talk to you soon 🤗 Take care, Ariane

Hi Ariane and Trevorino! Thanks for offering us a place to stay on Friday night, Trevorino! From what Ariane mentioned, looks like the couch converts into a double bed so that will be wonderful. We plan to stop at Costco on way up to Sun Peaks so if there is anything you need, for your stay, Trev, just let us know and we'd be happy to pick things up. We will bring something for dinner on Friday so that meal is taken care of. Lasagna for lunch, on Saturday, sounds terrific but we can also bring along cold cuts and buns, or something similar, so let us know what is easiest for everyone and we'll plan accordingly. Looking forward to catching up with one and all. Buona Fortuna with your flights, Trevor! Cheers, Patrizzio!

hi pat: sounds exciting; hope it works to your favour. I like your idea of 'more dirt' I hunt in the hills around ok falls and am always 'thinking' of buying something there it is pretty 'sleepy hollow' there and will only be a matter of time till is explodes talk soon chris Hi again, Christopher! Couldn't agree with you more about "Sleepy Hollow" being in many spots across the Okanagan but as you observe, the time is coming, if it hasn't already arrived, when the influx and resulting soaring prices result in a tsunami! In fact, as "long-time" residents, we now want to keep this particular spot of paradise a secret! Better jump soon. And, by the way, you were supposed to be in touch when on your hunting trip! No excuses next time! All the best. Cheers, Patrizzio!
