Garlic Producers of Naramatia Blues: Sunday, March 26th!

Since Auschwitz we know what man is capable of. And since Hiroshima we know what is at stake. -Viktor Frankl, author, neurologist and psychiatrist, Holocaust survivor (26 Mar 1905-1997)

Hi Patrick – OK, I’ve put you down for the Saturday session. Starting promptly at 10:30AM – see you then if not before. Cheers. Dick. Buongiorno Ricardo! Thanks for confirmation on the
En-Primeur Barrel Tasting Event. Much appreciated. I see from the time stamp on your message that you were obviously up early, pouring Gewurtz on your Wheaties! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Thx Corinne for the supper invite. I'll talk to you before about what we can bring. Maybe a dessert? see you Wed Gill

Buongiorno Banrock Station Woman! Apologize for not including a few bits and pieces about of Dublin visit in October 2010. I'm sure you will find plenty to do, especially since you are only in city for three days. By chance, we were in Dublin when the Theatre Festival was on so we were able to buy tickets for three plays. Simply magical. In another twist of Fate or Chance, first morning we were downtown, we were consulting a small city map and a local approached us and asked if we needed any help. We explained we were looking for the Festival Ticket Office and he very kindly provided directions. We ended up chatting for a few minutes and then he bade us farewell, saying he needed to be off as he was meeting a friend. Thanking him, we headed in the direction he had pointed us.

We found the Ticket Office without any difficulty, enjoying a wonderful photographic exhibit in the foyer of the building, before starting to make our way towards the city centre. A block or so on I heard someone shout my name and the chap who had helped us earlier came out from a café we'd just walked past. He said he had noticed my orange Crocs! At any rate, there was a small theatre behind the café proper and he was there to listen to an interview/radio play to be performed that morning. It was a free event so he suggested we join him. Delighted to do so and it was a remarkable session.

Host was from Irish Radio and he interviewed the author of a play about one of Sigmund Freud's daughters and Alfred Lord Douglas, (Oscar Wilde's lover), both committed to a London mental hospital. [I cannot, for the life of me, remember either the name of the play or the daughter!] It is a fictionalized account of their meeting in the institution. Historical records place both there, at overlapping times, though there is no confirmation that they ever met. The event started with the interview and then the recording of the original broadcast was played with more discussion afterwards.

Obviously, I suggest you try to see a theatre production when there. Also, the Book Of Kells Exhibit at Trinity College is a must. When I was first in Dublin, in early January, 1972, a lone display case was in the lobby of one of the buildings on campus and every day, one page was turned. Now it has become a much more glitzy exhibit but that is progress for you! Plenty of other museums and attractions, of course. A tasting at the Guinness Brewery is always fun. A walking tour of James Joyce's Ulysses might be of interest. We didn't have time for one, unfortunately. Anyway, I'm sure you'll have a grand time. We found food, at the various restaurants we happened upon, or asked about, to be exceptional. Don't know what things are like now, however. Fondestos from Lady Dar, just off to Oasis and then a meeting with one of her wedding couples afterwards. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello OF'ies, I just realized that no email was sent around for a hike tomorrow. So, this is a late notice for a quick decision :)! We will go up Mt. Conkle tomorrow from the West side, i.e. starting at the Rodeo Grounds in Summerland. So meet at IGA in Summerland at 9:00AM. Pentictonites can meet at 8:40AM at Home Hardware in Penticton, then make their way over to the IGA in Summerland. See you there. Cheers, Aart Hi all,  any plans for a hike tomorrow? the weather forecast seems pretty good...Hanneke Please come! Look forward to seeing you there. Cheers, Jim Hi James! Thanks! See you on Wednesday morning. Cheers, Patrizzio!

[Have a great hike on Monday, everybody! This is Bishop Peak near San Luis Obispo, last Saturday. I was wishing you were there with me.  Best, Bryan]

Hi Aart, Should we be making our sandwiches yet? Patiently, Tim Hi dear hiking friends, Are we hiking tomorrow, March 27th? I sure hope so! Hugs, Olly have patience! Aarturo Hello OF'ies, This was a test to see whether you really wanted to go hiking tomorrow and you would be patient enough to wait for an announcement!

Sorry for late notice. Let's get together tomorrow at the usual time, i.e. 9:00AM HH in Penticton or 8:40AM IGA in Summerland then off to Penticton. Phil offered to lead the hike to Guy's Cache in the White Lake Area, but was not sure whether he would be able to make it. I have a gpx track, so we will manage somehow, after all it's part of being an OF! My weather forecast (the Norwegians who are usually right and even the Weather Network) says it should be good, but who knows? TIM, you can start making sandwiches! See you there, Cheers, Aart(uro) and Josinta and .... hopefully Phil

Hi Jo-Anne! Trust all goes well. Had quite a busy weekend. Friday night we went to the #Grassland Exhibition Opening at the Penticton Art Gallery. Saturday afternoon to a fund-raiser for AlleyCats Alliance, at the Shatford Centre

This evening we had invited The Naramatians, Lynne and Peter for dinner. Lady Dar prepared a royal feast and we had plenty of fabulous local wine, both bubbly, red and white, and port for dessert, so a wonderful time was had by all. Sunday morning I had a message from Dawn Martin asking for advice, (see below), and I'm hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction. I haven't looked at any Library School or Education sites, or done any searches as I thought I'd ask you first in case you might know of something which might fit the bill.

Patrick, Thank you for the email and photos of your friends -my word you are a busy household. Nice to hear you are back on the road again with your biking. We are always impressed with your stats!

I am hoping you can give me some advice. Mag’s daughter in law has been a Special Services Assistant at our Catholic school for the last 10 years and now she is hoping to get the job of looking after the school’s library. She is not a teacher and does not have a degree from university. She has good ideas about what things to do with the kids in the library but has no training in cataloguing or ordering. Is there somewhere she could take on line course work to assist her with those tasks or is there some other avenue she could take. I understand the school’s library is pretty simple but she will need some knowledge of those skills. I am hoping with yours and Corinne’s backgrounds and connections you may have some advice for me to share with Linda. I would appreciate anything you suggest. Thank you.

We were out picking pussy willows this afternoon but they are scarce now apparently due to a beetle that has infested the trees. We did get a nice bunch after searching for quite awhile - you used to see them all over the place up here. We had another dusting of snow last week but hopefully that was winter’s last hurrah - time for spring. Cheers, Dawn

Anyway, if you have any suggestions I might pass along to Dawn, I know it would be much appreciated, by both of us, obviously. Must away as Lady Dar wants me to help with chores in back patio. Duke and Etta are helping so I told her I should be able to go riding! All the best, Cheers, Patrizzio!

Dear Patrick, Thank you for signing up for this campaign. You are part of a movement of hundreds of thousands of other British Columbians who are ready to put an end to Christy Clark’s government.

Together we can build a better province – where hardworking families can afford housing and childcare – and aren’t burdened with hidden taxes that benefit the ultra-rich. It’s going to take hard work and dedication to get there in May. And it’s going to take all of us working together. That’s why I want to know what matters to you. Can you take a moment to reply to this email and answer this simple question? What is the most pressing issue facing your community as we head into this election? Thank you for everything you’re doing, John John Horgan Leader BC’s New Democrats
Protecting the environment, both on land and in the ocean!
