Happy Thanksgiving and Cold Turkey Blues: Sunday, October 8th!

It (death) comes equally to us all, and makes us all equal when it comes. -John Donne, poet (1573-1631)

When I despair, I remember that all through history, the way of truth and love has always won. There have been murderers and tyrants, and for a time they can seem invincible. But in the end they always fall. Think of it, always. -Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 Oct 1869-1948)

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! Wonderful, wonderful gathering yesterday, so thanks to Virginia and John and their terrific staff at Orofino. Marvellous to see and have a chance to visit, if only somewhat briefly, with everyone. Have attached an account of the punishing ride which Wild Green Mountain Man inflicted on me, if interested. Until next our paths cross, take care of one another. Fondestos from Lady Dar, readying the turkey. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pic: The Sisterhood! Great Pics Pat!! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I loved seeing your house and visiting!! Love to you and Corinne!! Hi Beckster! Great to see you and Nicolina at Burns Street BYOB! You, Kid Chelene and girls can stay with us if there isn't any room at Spirit Ridge! In fact, we have an appointment, next Saturday, to see a number of units there, so who knows! For our part, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving as I'm sure you did. Take care of each other. Fondestos from Lady Dar and Chloë. Cheers, Patrizzio! Hi Gdańsk Girl! Trust you are well. I'm sorry to say that I've only "scanned" your wonderful narrative but plan to give it close scrutiny soon, I hope! We have been as busy as you this summer and now we are already celebrating Thanksgiving! All this being said, we'd still love you to visit whenever you think you have free time/Airmiles booking, etc., if you don't mind being "bunked" on a Murphy bed. So let us know which dates might work and we'll plan accordingly. Until then, take care of yourself. Fondestos from Lady Dar, just readying the living room for this evenings meal, and Chloë, in the shower since yesterday! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, Janet. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Thank Mr. photo taker..Please give Bill FLEET my phone # DBJS once from Graham Hall Hi Graham Hall Person! I did just that, a week or so ago. I think you need to call on him in person as I detect, (my sense, only), that there seems to be a bit of reluctance on his part. Have no idea why but my efforts, on your behalf, seem not to have borne any fruit. Happy Thanksgiving! Cheers, Photo-Taker Patrizzio!

Dear, dear friends and far-flung family, We send heartfelt thanks for your love and friendship and count you utmost of the myriad blessings in the bounteous harvest of our lives! As ever, Lady Dar, Chloë and Patrizzio! Thanks Patrick. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Corine. I am thankful for the announcement I received this morning: The Alzheimer’s Team I volunteer with, has just been approved to be an official XPrize! Congratulations indeed! Cheers, Patrizzio! Thank you, Patrick, for remembering friends during this weekend of Thanksgiving. Hope you are all doing well. Eyob + Shewa with the kids Hi Shewa, Eyob and family! Lovely to hear from you although we missed you this summer! You MUST visit!!! Janet is planning a trip this coming November. Fondestos from Lady Dar and Chloë, who has just moved to Penticton! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Happy Thanksgiving with 4 hearts from the Dronkers. Hi Four Hearted Famiglia Dronkers!!!!Thought you might like to see snaps of pizza-pick-up party at Orofino. Cheers, Patrizzio! Happy belated Thanksgiving. Your card was very appropriate with the 2 kittens. We had an Italian dinner at a beautiful small restaurant in Delhi for our Thanksgiving - seemed odd but very good food that wasn't too hot for me. India is overwhelming in its contrasts, organized bedlam and people - so far fascinating. Dawn & Gerry

Hello Organized Bedlam People! Absolutely delighted that you are enjoying India! Obviously, you are both well. With respect to wine, we found a number of Sauvignon Blancs, (cannot recall names but not all that many so trial and error!), that were quite drinkable but the reds left much to be desired, at least in our group's opinion! Funnily enough, I am just about finished reading The Ministry of Utmost Happiness, by Arundhati Roy, for our book club tomorrow. I heard her interviewed by Eleanor Wachtel on Writers and Company, a month or so ago, and was very pleased that it was suggested for our group. Having been to India, I must say that the book is much more approachable than it otherwise would have been, at least that it my feeling. While I really don't know very much about "recent" political history there, particularly the conflict in Kashmir, much of the action is set in Delhi and so the city's landscape is somewhat familiar. At any rate, I am very much drawn to Roy's style and time shifts, (Lady Darjeeling, contrary to her name, does not!), and hope to read The God of Small Things, her first novel, I believe. Enjoy the rest of your travels in this remarkable country! Until we next chat, take care of yourselves and travel safely. Fondestos from Lady Dar. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Anyway, will be in touch closer to the time to see what your schedule is like. Until we next chat, take care of yourselves. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Fartograms, Sorry for the later notice, but Jos and myself are planning to go hiking tomorrow and hope you can join us! We will do the Laidlaw Mountain Lower Loop, a "Monday" variation to Laidlaw Mountain with fall colors galore, if it is anything like the last time we did this in October 2015. Some 6-7km and little elevation gain (<300m).  We will start at the end of Sheep Creek Road off highway 3A (just past Twin Lakes Road). As usual we will gather at the Home Hardware parking lot at 9:00AM. Summerlanders should come together at the IGA parking lot at 8:40AM then make their way to the HH in Penticton.
For the seniors among you .... REMEMBER THE START TIME: 9:00AM Hope to see you there! Cheers, Opa Aart & Oma Jos (... both young at hear

We must learn to honor excellence in every socially accepted human activity, however humble the activity, and to scorn shoddiness, however exalted the activity. An excellent plumber is infinitely more admirable than an incompetent philosopher. The society that scorns excellence in plumbing because plumbing is a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy. Neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water. -John W. Gardner, author and leader (8 Oct 1912-2002)
