Brno/Kraków Cyclisiti Biking Reunion Blues: Friday, November 9th!

One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It's simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we've been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back. -Carl Sagan, astronomer and writer (9 Nov 1934-1996)

Author Carol Bruneau on vital books from throughout her life - The Globe and Mail Hey, Librarians, an article of possible interest. One comment: in high school she didn’t read The Carpetbaggers, Peyton Place or other racy books?

Hi Juliette of the Spirits and Library School Dropout! Ross, for someone who disdained to follow a career in Librarianship, choosing rather to grovel, obsequiously, before Mammon, you seem to have seen the light: A Born-Again Librarian! Hallelujah! Praise the Lord and Pass the eReader! In fact, I did enjoy hearing about Carol's reading trajectory. Trust you are both well and that The Fayre Julia's foot is stronger with each passing day.

Had our first snowfall of the season this morning. I was at Chloë's place earlier this morning, putting a coat of Varathane on a step-stool we gave to her and snow was sticking. Not so here in town but not sure what rest of day will bring. Duke just came inside and his coat was dotted with flakes. Made him look like an leopard, of sorts!

Must away as I have orders to vacuum and must be finished when Colonel Cora Lee returns! Fondestos to you both from Lady Dar, off at a meeting for GFA and then a bit of shopping for tonight's dinner. Have invited two couples who were on the same bike trips this past May/June. Judy and Jim Holtjer, from The Kingdom of Summerland, were on the Czech Republic outing while Carol and Tom Hoenisch, from The Naramata, were on the trip in Poland. Looking forward to seeing both couples again and introducing them to long-suffering Lady Dar! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Patrick. Thanks for the letter. Good that you are keeping busy. Those deer are right now in rut so this is when you will see bucks wandering about, oblivious to normal dangers, looking for a doe in estrus. Sort of like you in your youth on Friday nights after a few beers, or like Tony Clement after 10 minutes on a “social media” site. Regarding the raccoons, I suggest this surefire solution: https://www.realtree.com/timber-2-table-wild-game-recipes/maple-bourbon-glazed-grilled-raccoon-recipe -Ross Hi Coonskin Hat Man! In fact, recipe looked very tasty! However, if you feel the need for a slightly more juice, take a look at this. Until next our paths cross in the High Sierras, or elsewhere, stay well. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Sandee and Arv! Trust you are both well. Are you returning to Spirit Ridge? If so, let us know as we'd love to see you. Rosie-the-Riveter is here until November 23rd. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Old Farts This Monday the weather forecast looks good, and we will be taking in Chuck’s famous Pincushion Mtn hike in Peachland. As usual, meet to carpool at HH Penticton at 0840 and IGA Summerland at 0900. See you then Cheers Tony
