Fortis' Hard Rock Pile Blues: Thursday, July 27th!

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free. -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, poet, dramatist, novelist, and philosopher (1749-1832)

Hi Stefano and Kathleen, et al! Trust bus back to Vancouver went well! I enjoyed a terrific hike so thanks for allowing me to leave you, "alone and paley loitering" at the Greyhound Depot!
Has been a bit quiet last few days, without any Freeloaders, but plenty to do so have still been busy. We are off to Little Shuswap tomorrow for Lady Dar's third wedding, on Saturday. Will stay at Quaaout Lodge, [where wedding and reception will take place], for two nights and then stop in Vernon on way home for a brief visit with Chloรซ who is up for weekend, staying with her very close friends, Katie/Brian and their two children, Emma and Luca. Then into Kamloops for a face-to-face meeting with the couple Lady Dar will marry on September 23rd at Ancient Hills Winery. Not quite sure which route we will have to take as a wildfire at Monty Lake has a number of roads closed.

Thank you for the very helpful, detailed list of stretches, Contortionist Man.   Certainly much appreciated and I will keep you informed of my progress. I hope to become Houdini in a few weeks! Realistically, I know that I need to be disciplined, start slowly but keep at it regularly. Melds with my approach to cycling, better to do a little bit, after not riding, than to put it off for another day.

Must away as I need to move some of the large rocks Fortis uncovered when putting in the gas line. [You'll be pleased that I'll be using the large dolly to move the stones to front yard where we'll use them for borders.] That work has been completed but their contract landscaper is yet to be back to re-set pavers removed for installation work. In fact, we are quite pleased, overall, with what little disruption we experienced and hope to have the patio back to "normal" once we return from the wedding. Not sure if I sent long the snaps of the two Farmers' Markets so apologize if I did. However, I did want to let both Balsamic Bliss Woman and Jake/Vittoria know that I have always intended to pass along the snaps I force them to pose for! All the best, to one and all. Fondestos from Lady Dar, hobbling around the kitchen, with a very painful right big toe, after managing to somehow slam it into the front steps on Sunday evening. In fact, she thinks she might even have cracked or broken a bone. Of course it would have to be the one she has had complicated surgery on over the years. She claims that it is only my loving attention and boundless sympathy that allow her to bear the excruciating pain, both physical and emotional! Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: FM, June 24th & July 22nd. Seacrest hike.

Now that accounts for more smoke in Kamloops!]
Thank you Patrick!!...Great to see you are trekking all over those hillsides again!!....I would enjoy an outing in the mountains when the weather cools off a bit...Again!!...I am not on the Monday notification group!!...never have been but would be nice to pick and choose ...It's an awesome group of hikers and such a variety of beautiful areas to hike into I think I feel welcome when I do show up...but it's been a long time since I tagged along...Maybe I am not considered rugged enough for the group?...At least not like my kids who are truly mountaineers in The Western States Last year in early September my son and daughter together climbed and summited Mt Shasta...This year my daughter climbed Mt Whitney for the second year in a row and recently they did a group hike in remote areas of Colorado some 3000 plus metres above sea level!! They set up overnight camps ect!!...Happy to see they still enjoy the wilderness and the great outdoors

Hi Chloe, never heard from your contacts regarding the houses so I emailed Gil and he will tee them up for me to see and contact me on Monday. You have a lot of things to do: Contact agent to list loft. Arrange a mortgage with a broker. See what you qualify for. With at least 20% down. Ask Gaelan about moving in there. Where could you store your furniture? And things? Lots to do. There won't be any problem renting for a year. Not a lot of rental property around.
Talk soon, Love mom
Hi folks, Here is Katie and Brian's address in Vernon. Hope to see you Sunday! Call that morning if you can do we know your timeline. ❤️
Hi mom, I called your cell and left a message, realtor wants to list for 599. But not till the 14th as next weekend is the long weekend and he said it's bad to list then. Call me we can talk. I'll have paper work for you both to sign Sunday. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜❤️

Hello Picasso, et al! What was that shot of, Brenda Louise? Hope to see you soon as I need to work on my African Greyese! Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!
Hi Old Fartograms, Coming Monday we will be exploring a ridge of Cartwright from Morrow Av. It is a short hike, ~ 4+ kms, but with good views. It will be a steep (but safe) ascent in the beginning but once on the ridge it will be easy for OFologists. Something different (although some of you might have done this), we'll see how it goes. As usual, we will take off from the IGA parking lot in Summerland at 8:00AM. Pentictonites can come to the HH in Penticton at 7:40AM then carpool their way to Summerland. Hope to see you there! Cheers,
Aarturo

Hi Hikers, Next week we are continuing to stay high (elevationwise, that is) to beat the heat. Larry Shannon has offered to lead a repeat of our last years assault of Mount Baldy. We did this hike during the first week of August last year and were greeted by a fabulous display of flowers. This year should be even better due to the wet spring season.

Larry has suggested that we meet up with him and any members of the southern contingent at the Oliver hospital parking lot at 8:30 AM. So, we should plan to meet at the Penticton Home Hardware parking lot by 7:30 for carpooling (Summerlanders 7:10 at IGA). Since it is a long trip, a contribution to the drivers of $10 per passenger is suggested. Please let me know whether you are planning to join us so we can have an idea of how many to expect. Cheers, Peter
