Hot, Dry and Suuny Blue Blue Skies Blues: Sunday, July 23rd!

Television’s perfect. You turn a few knobs, a few of those mechanical adjustments at which the higher apes are so proficient, and lean back and drain your mind of all thought. And there you are watching the bubbles in the primeval ooze. You don’t have to concentrate. You don’t have to react. You don’t have to remember. You don’t miss your brain because you don’t need it. Your heart and liver and lungs continue to function normally. Apart from that, all is peace and quiet. You are in the man’s nirvana. And if some poor nasty minded person comes along and says you look like a fly on a can of garbage, pay him no mind. He probably hasn’t got the price of a television set. -Raymond Thornton Chandler, writer (23 Jul 1888-1959)

Lazy, lazy sleep-in until 8:30 am after last night's simply wonderful party at Upper Bench! Lady Dar was off to set up for coffee at Oasis by 9:15 am so I set about making a pot of java so that it would be ready for the for Old Oakites when they stumbled out of bed. They are off to meet friends from Peachland, for lunch, here in town, around noon. Until then we visited wwhile Kathleen prepared an apricot crumble, (Gary, from next door, very kindly picked us the fruit.], while I steamed beet greens and boiled the beets themselves for one of tonight's salads. Once I sent a few messages I plan to hit the road for a ride. Will be hot!

Hello Von Bingen! How lovely to hear from you. Sorry I've not been in touch but life has been a whirlwind, particularly, of late, with our youngest grandson's fabulous wedding in LA on July 7th. I drove down and by the time I was back I'd been away for three weeks. Went on my second hike yesterday and it was wonderful to see so many of the gang I hadn't had contact with since last September. Terrific outing but missed you terribly.

Trust you will be finished your extended home-improvement program in the not too, too distant future! Also, hope you will be at next Book Club, on August 2nd, when Senka is hosting. You are welcome to stay overnight, with us, if you are not driving back to Oliver.

Until then, Fondestos from Lady Dar, busy on her paperwork for the wedding she will perform, this coming Saturday, at Quaaout Lodge on Little Shuswap Lake. Eldest daughter of very close friends who lived in our basement suite, in Kits, for seven years! We will drive up on Friday for the wedding rehearsal and then dinner with wedding party. Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Lady Dar's 70th, this past Wednesday, at Front Street Brasserie! Gorgeous birthday bouquet from daughter, Ayn, in LA!
