Samantha and Alejandro Inch Towards Tying The Knot Blues: Thursday, July 6th!

Animal factories are one more sign of the extent to which our technological capacities have advanced faster than our ethics. -Peter Singer, philosopher, professor of bioethics (b. 6 Jul 1946)

Maggie Carr Whose wedding? Sorry if I've missed previous bogs. Are you in CA? Don't know the names you're mentioning. Patrick James Dunn I drove down, leaving last Tuesday, June 28th, from Penticton, to collect our friend Sarge, in Vancouver. On Wednesday we hit I-5 for Portland for the night, then into Healdsburg for two nights, staying with Pat and David Coffaro, winery owners we've come to know over the years. Then into Berkeley for Saturday night, riding over the Golden Gate the afternoon we arrived. Tinsel Town on Monday and Ayn took us on a wonderful tour of LA on Monday: Hollywood sign, Walk of Fame and Santa Monica pier. Sarge flew back early on Tuesday morning and Lady Dar and ChloĆ« flew in around noon.

Yesterday we moved to the house in Oxnard, about an easy hour north of LA, not far from the wedding venue in Camarillo. Wedding is on Friday and groom is Alexander, Ayn's youngest, marrying Samantha, high-school sweethearts. Alejandro has been accepted into the LA Fire Department and will begin his training in early August. I will head home on the Monday, following the wedding weekend, as will all the other Manitobans, in from Winnipeg and Falcon, as well as Ottawa. Corinne will stay the night with Chloƫ, in Vancouver, and then bus back to Penticton next day. I have tickets for the Folk Fest, weekend of the 14th/15th/16th, so won't drive back home until the 17th to ready the house for a steady stream of Freeloaders! Beach at Oxnard, late yesterday afternoon. Cheers!

Maggie Carr Thx for the update. Congrats to the happy couple. Lucky you to enjoy a wedding firva grandchikd. Our oldest grandchild is Elijah, 12, currently competing in a gymnastics competition in Portugal with 4 of his U of A Ortona club teammates. The other 6 grandkids range in age from 3-9.

Did u know that this Sept, there will be a 4 day celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the U of Wpg. I was in the last graduating class, BA '67. In Fall of 1992, a few from our '67 class marched with the 25th convocating class. I am hoping I might make the celebrations. My mobility is becoming quite limited as I await hip surgery.

Your greeting from Brenda is waiting for you from Blue Mountain! Hi Brenda Louise, and Picasso, of course! Thank you for the Canada Day card! I also received one from Pat Coffaro, wife of winemaker, David, winery owners we've come to know over the years. Sarge and I stayed with them for two nights and had a fabulous time, it goes without saying! Not sure what the gang has in mind for today but I must away as I want to have a bite to eat before I head out to do more exploring now that I have a better idea of the immediate area. You might recall that Lady Dar has two weddings in Kamloops, one in late July, the other in mid-August, so  hope we might see you, at some point, over the course of those stays. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi again - our visit is taking shape. Tinhorn has agreed to 3 of us staying in one of the 2 bedroom suites. We are focusing on mid August - either staying at Tinhorn on the 9/10th, 12/13th, 16/17th or 17/18th. I'll be finalizing the date either later today or tomorrow. If you are still amenable to the three of us crashing at your place for two (or at most three nights), the visit with you can be scheduled either before or after except for the 17/18th when it would be before only given your wedding to attend. Let me know asap if you have preferences with any of these dates.

We'll plan on hosting you both for dinner at Miradoro (or lunch if this is preferable) during our stay at Tinhorn. Sounds pretty hot there and the advent of brush fires is worrying. We are in the midst of a wonderful run of weather - hope it holds for the Folk Fest. Talk soon....Paul Hi Paul, earlier in August is best. We are staying at the beach in Oxnard with 10 family members. Our grandson gets married tomorrow so lots of fun times. Look forward to see you three in August. Best Corinne

Thank you. Great pictures. Happy memories. Canada day in AmeriKa,eh. Sarge,I hope Patrick did not book you into his sleazy hotel/motel and that a suitable picnic spot was selected for your carefully crafted sandwich made by David. Was there any highland flings in Portland? Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hello Casa Vicentians! Was not sure what the gang had in mind for today but was just informed that I must drive them to Ojai! Thanks for greetings to one and all. Fondestos and Cheers, Forgetful Patrizzio! Pics: My barber with his son; Arriverderci Tinsel Town; Stroll to the beach at Point Hueneme. Last night's sleepers!
