Old Oakites Proclaim The Hard Times Upper Bench Blues: Saturday, July 22nd!

All my life I've looked at words as though I were seeing them for the first time. -Ernest Hemingway, author and journalist, Nobel laureate (21 Jul 1899-1961)

Up at 5:50 am to let out the felines and then back to bed until 6:34 am when I stole into the kitchen, cloaing both bedroom doors so as not to disturb either The Freeloaders or Lady Dar. Fixed breakfast for Etta and Duke, to have it ready when they decided they would be back from their morning explorations, made myself a mug on java and am now listening to Sheryl MacKay and Brian Dance on North By Northwest. Once the sleepy heads are up and awake we will make our way to the Farmers' Market and then see what the rest of the day will bring. This evening we are off to Upper Bench for their Wine Club appreciation dinner so really looking forward to that. Shana and Gavin always orchestrate a wonderful, wonderful time.

Hi Patrick, Great photos, thanks, and thanks also for the delicious wines you brought. I didn’t golf well today so it won’t be a problem missing the prize-giving tonight. Cheers, Peter Map and Stats for ride:

Hello Upper Bench Crew, et al! Just a quick note to say thank you for such a marvellous, marvellous, fun-filled, wine-soaked, scrumptious flank-steak/superlative kale salad, divine chocolate/Brie cake dessert evening with new friends and old. Life in Penticton, or anywhere else, for that matter, simply doesn't get any better. Again, thanks to all those who worked so hard, beforehand, and tirelessly, throughout the evening, to allow the rest of us to sit back and enjoy all the delicious, generous fruits of your inspired and dedicated labour. Onward! Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio!

Plucking Twits 25th Anniversary Aloha Kids! Just trying to figure out when we actually started the Twits (after Billy & I) when Tony “The Lip” fell over your stairs. It was Chloe’s 16th Birthday party-what year was that?? (1993?) Hope to see you soon-any visit to the Island in the works? If not, we’ll see you next month for sure. Cheers, Gregg & Francesca Chloe turned 16 in 1992. Hard to believe that long ago. We are planning an island tour in the Fall. Probably late Sept. early Oct. Hope you are all well. Love Corinne
