Last Post Deep Roots Malbec Blues: Saturday, November 11th!

A man does not have to be an angel in order to be saint. -Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965)

Hello. I can send an amendment along with subject removal to include Corinne. Please send me legal name. Lucia

Before I begin I must say we really enjoyed Dicte on Netflix and also Season One of another series, "Wanted”. I think I already mentioned Rake to you as being good for a laugh or two. Sounds like you have some pretty exciting trips and plans ahead. Our pleasures will have to be primarily domestic for a while yet . Dana has enrolled in yet another course at TRU, but this time it is an Accounting Technician course in the Open Learning department. TRU assessed her previous records and have accredited her with a whole semester of work so she has only three to complete. I have been trying my arthritic hand at drawing again. Guess the subject of my study.

I have to think about mailing gifts back east before the end of the month so I will have to pack up my art supplies again for a little while for baking and shopping. I recently made some flour free breadsticks lately and thought of Corinne. Must make them for her if you two are back in the country as some point. LOL Cheers Hi Brenda Louise, or should I say, Sketcher Extraordinaire Leonardo da Vinci! What a wonderful, wonderful drawing indeed! What talent!! Fabulous likeness and truly captures Kian!!! However, I really believe that you are stealing Picasso's work and claiming it as your own, you Kamloops con artist you!!!!

Have had close friends, Rosemary and Andre, from London/Lyon, visiting since Friday. Yesterday, Andre and I attended the Remembrance Service at PTCC and it was quite moving. [
Remembrance Day and More! Well Done Paaa-trish-eee-o DBJS] When we arrived and were looking for seats I noticed a young woman, Kelly, from our doctor's, (Paul Cobbin's), office, sitting with her daughter, Paisley, (Her sister was in Holy Cross Elementary Choir, singing a number of hymns during service.), and I introduced her to Andre, telling Kelly that he and Paul went to high school together in Vancouver. [Andre grew up there but his Mother was from near Lyon, hence one of the reasons he and Rosemary have a simply gorgeous, huge, huge, house, (with an incredible pool, to boot!), about two hours  from Lyon in the lovely, tiny village of Chabeuil. They also have an apartment in the centre of London, near Marble Arch. The Lives of the Rich and Famous! We've stayed there twice and I will be visiting them next year as I left the bike I bought in York in 2013 with them at the end of that particular holiday. This time I'm off on a bike trip in Poland at the end of May, solo, as Lady Dar ahs to be here to marry folks!!!

Around noon, we met The Shopping Sisterhood at Three Wishes and after their purchases we made our way to Deep Roots Winery, to the home of the owners, Deb and Bryan Hardman, to have coffee/tea and a visit. [Andre picked apples for Bryan's dad when he was in highschool and Bryan planted grapes after the orchards were not a viable crop!] They have a simply adorable new pup, three month old Kenya, a Ridgeback, and she is just a bundle of energy and even managed to nip Lady Dar's arm, superficial scratch only, in her wild excitement at our arrival.

Then on to the Pub in Naramata Village where we enjoyed fab wings, (lemon and garlic) and nachos. Everyone, except Bryan, (beer), and Rosemary, (DR Pinot Gris), had a large glass of their simply stunning 2015 Malbec. Andre treated us so that was most generous of him. Then back to winery itself as Rosemary wanted some of their white wine. Lady Dar bought two bottles of their Sauvignon Blanc which is most tasty, so I was pleased. Unfortunately, all their red wine is sold out as I would have purchased at least six of the Malbec. Waved goodbye and then headed up to Sendero to show R/A Chloë's new place. Pretty sure we found the right unit and if so looks like a good start on garage and dwelling's first floor walls.

Back home to ready ourselves for dinner. Close friends, Lynne and Peter, from Naramata, were coming and they arrived just after 6:00 pm, bringing a case of his homemade whites which are really, really good, [He planted about an acre and a half of vines on their property and most of the fruti goes to Nichol but he makes a small amount of Riesling and Chardonnay, with a neighbour, for their own consumption.], plus an Amaryllis which we hope will bloom by Christmas. As well, a wonderful 2012 Poplar Grove Legacy, 13.9%, so more than generous, as always. Had a lovely time visiting and hearing about their recent trip to Africa. Andre had brought along some winter pears, from Saltspring, (He has many friends there and leaves his truck with one of them so that they have transportation when visiting. His Mom is in a care facility in Victoria.), and he poached them, in red wine and brown sugar, with cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg, for a delicious dessert.

The Lighthalls left around 9:30 pm as Peter was off to Cuba next morning, [Although officially retired he has a very, very lucrative job as a mining consultant. He wants to retire completely but Lynne insists he keep working as she wants to travel in high style. Again, The Lives of the Rich and Famous!], so he had to be at airport here by 7:00 am! Lynne wasn't happy at all the malt we were drinking before they left! Fondestos and Cheers, Patrizzio! Pics: Remembrance Day; Kenya, exhausted after excitement of new people! Pub in Naramata Village; Deep Roots; Sendero; Lamb dinner, (bbq'd by Lady Dar!), at Burns Street BYOB! Arrivederci Naramatians!
